It certainly ‘looked’ like an intentional decision that in TF:P, Arcee’s ‘Seat’ area in Motorcycle Mode, becomes her ABBS in Robot Mode.

She never said which side she was on, it’s pretty typical for autobots to be the friendly refugees looking for a new home. Though her being a deception gone rogue would be a lot more interesting and open up more doors in the story if it gets a part 2.
