FRover & Lucy - "Bonding" (Patreon)

Drawing Lucy is so fun.. her hair shape and colors are really interesting and leave a lot of room for subtle hue shifts. I think she's my favorite from this piece.

The background was a breath of fresh air as I never drew a city scape before. I also really liked working with this yellow-green color contrast.

I was already 80% into my process when I realized that the light from the burning cigarettes isn't nearly enough to light up their faces (as it did in the initial sketch I uploaded). To fix this, I changed Lucy's hand to hold a lighter instead. I had a good laugh after realizing and I'm glad it didn't occur to me much closer to finishing. This edit also allowed me to show more of her other hair strand, which is nice. The background wire fence was too distracting as the city itself became more and more detailed, so I changed it to be a foreground element instead, framing the characters. Hope you like the vibe ^^
