Leahhhh

LETS GOOO IVE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS BABY!!! 🚨🍿❤️

Momo

Oh my god oh my god oh my god YES

jess

WITH ANGIE ??? IS IT CHRISTMAS ALREADY ??!!

lorna browne

I literally just saw the concert tour two days ago, perfect timing!!

Singo

Im less miserables after seeing this notification

Kristie

Watching master of the house made me think - PLEASE watch Sweeney Todd!! Helena and Sacha are both in it and just as crazy/perfect

edri

I've been looking forward to this just as much as the Eras Tour

M

I feel like you’d really appreciate the Sideways YouTube breakdown of how the music was directed & how it really disadvantaged the cast & physically harmed them. Would love to see your reaction to that.

Gina

Did Phantom of the Opera or Cabaret next!!!

Liv Heskett

I feel like we’ve been getting a lot of musicals recently and I’m LOVING it!

Lex

before we knew how to purify water, people had to drink wine (and beer and other alcohol) for hydration to avoid all the bacteria! the bishop can't offer him water, it's not sanitary yet!

Becca

Of all the shows I’ve seen, “One day more” live right before intermission still gives me chills more than anything

Hami Metekia

I’m not lying when I say I manifested this one for the last month!!! i’ve been waiting on this one INTENSELY AND PATIENTLY because I didn’t know how to vote in the discord😭💀 can’t wait to watch

Stephanie Wins

Javert knew where Valjean was going bc he said he had to take care of Fantine’s daughter so Javert found out where she was

Charlee_bear

Defo need to watch Sweeney Todd, it’s to die for

Lex

Amanda Seyfried does get botox in her forehead - she talked about it in interviews last year. Just the one spot in her forehead, apparently

saravp18

the tap out at the end was so real 😂😂😂

Chloe McCluskey

This is my all time favourite musical and would be one of my favourite movies…..if not for Russell Crowe 🫣 IM SO SORRY. It’s only because of the versions of Javert there have been that Russell Crowe can’t even wish to compare!

Abilene Lortz

The bishop actor (Colm Wilkinson) in the beginning was the original Jean Valjean on Broadway!!

bambi (they)

angela's tears running down her neck by the end of this is so real actually same here even my glasses are a little wet. very glad that troy didnt see the title of VALJEAN'S DEATH

Emma Bascom

I adore sitting here laughing, crying (and loving Angie’s fourth wall breaks) with y’all!! Also love your comments about Amanda Seyfried sounding like a bird because in the Les Mis book, Cosette is often referred to as a little lark!

JustKayt

Halp!!!! 😭😭😭 You two are masochists! How did you watch this more than once! Now I’m going to go watch one of your happy reactions, and find an emotional support person. 😂

labyrinthpeaches

The tears really don't stop coming with this one 😭 And poor éponine truly 😭Samantha Barks is amazing as her, and full circle moment, she just went back and played Fantine recently!

Jennabeth

“who’s this fellow? he’s eating” babyyy 😛 that’s aaron tviet! he’s a pillar of broadway tbh

Sabrina Hawkins

I’ve been waiting so long for this😭

Sasha Pimentel

Came here to say this! The more you know ✨ Everyone should go watch “the four valjeans” from the 25th anniversary

Jenna

I haven’t watched this in years because I’m a live show purist but it’s definitely fun to watch retroactively. My biggest issue though is Valjean should not be belting in Bring Him Home. It’s supposed to be all in head voice, not only for the emotion, but because it’s literally a prayer, and it’s also THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND EVERYONE IS SLEEPING

Jenna

Also fun fact almost all of the ensemble cast were in the London west end and touring casts.

AthenaLea

Troy discovering Aaron Tveit is about to open a flood gate of musical requests lmao

Kayley vines

Sobbing together is the best

cami ♡

god I sobbed all over again like I didn't go through a phase where I watched this like twice a day

jomama1997

Now you have to watch the 25th anniversary recording 😭😭😭😭 💓with trained professional singers!!

Kate MacLeod

Lmao, we had very similar reactions to ourselves at the end of this show. I went to see the show with my mum a few years ago on a trip, cause I loved the soundtrack. I knew exactly what was going to happen at every point of the show and yet I still cried. In fact, I don’t think I really ever stopped crying after Gavroche. I remember turning to my mum as the audience was walking out, both of us are a fucking mess of tears, and I just say “who thought this would be fun?! Who thought “hey, we should see this show on vacation, it’ll be great!” Why did I say that???!”

Madison Freeman

got the notification and literally climbed the barricade and heard the people sing

Audrey

I remember watching this in theaters with my sister and when it got to Empty Chairs At Empty Tables, she was sobbing so loud in the quiet parts of that song that people all around the theater were turning their heads to check on us, rip...

ellie

you would have thought I had never seen this before with how hard I am crying rn

bridez42

omg i really didn’t wanna go to work today but now i see i have this and ANGIE to keep me company i’m so pleaseddddd

Maia Wilson

I beg you to watch the 25th Anniversary of both Les Mis and Phantom PLEASEEEEE

izzy 🪷

omg angie's purple looks so good, i'm dying my hair purple as my next color :3

Leah ✨

the amount of sobbing I did during I dreamed a dream was insane - Leah

M'Kayla

Enjolras x Grantaire was my introduction to fanfiction. Enjolras was a revolutionary because he loved freedom…Grantaire was a revolutionary because he loved Enjolras 😞

Leah ✨

A lot of the filming for France, particularly for 'Do you hear the people sing' was done in Greenwich (in London) at the Old Naval colleges :) - Leah

Gee

i really enjoyed you cussing out Javert at the 45 minute mark LMAO

Ashley Holland

Yall didn’t mention it but pleaseeee tell me you knew this entire musical was sang live while filming😭 I remember seeing it the day it came out - as a theatre kid the excitement was so incredible and the fact that the singing was live was such a big aspect of that

bridez42

epilogue is my favourite song in les mis (i love to be sad) so i was just waitingggggg for the reaction

bridez42

also where Javert [redacted] himself, that's filmed in Bath at the wier. Not far from where i live!

robbie

OHHHH I AM SATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Megan Kirkman

Unfortunately the revolution in les mis was not successful :(( The original story wasn’t set in The French Revolution we know (1789 - 1794) but rather the June Revolution, which only lasted from 5-6 June 1832 and the government successfully suppressed it.(as seen when the last barricade falls in the movie)

Megan Kirkman

Also the end always gets me because it’s such a beautiful depiction of heaven - all the revolutionaries in a land where they won and are free 🥹

Tylar E Dean

LOVE WHEN ANGIE JOINS UGH!!!! Troy please have her on for more and you need to keep a tissue box nearby for movies like this lol.

Ashley Holland

Omg yall did not just ask who Aaron Tveit is. My heart hurts

Vic

Can you react to The Moment now that it’s streaming on HBO????

Rebecca Palma

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER AND WITH ANGIE IS A DREAMMMMMM

kachow6969

only 25 min in but it’s actually impressive how much troy can’t follow the most basic plot points lol

Alec Rogerson

missed opportunity to say L bozo when javert jumps off the bridge lol

carolina

Anne Hathaway won the Oscar for thos 15 minutes of screen. I cry everytime she appears and/or sings.

Sophie Warren-Blades

As an annoying Les Mis purest, this movie was slightly disappointing. There are some odd changes that were made between the stage show and the movie that kind of fuck with the flow and plot of the musical. However putting myself through Russell Crowe’s “singing” is worth it for this duo.

Jaz

Im the happiest I’ve ever been

Nia Peterson

The last time I watched this was on my last outing before quarantine!! So it's been just as long for me lol

Emily McCass

now more than ever we gotta upvote Sweeney Todd.

Jenna

The guy playing Enjolras (leader of the revolutionaries) is Aaron Tveit. He was broadways dreamboat in the 2010s. He also played Fiyero in Wicked on Broadway amongst other iconic roles. He recently originated the role of Christian in Moulin Rouge on Broadway as well

Beau Lewis-Donnell

I feel like I am collecting musical reactions like infinity stones - phantom nextttt please!

jonnyappleseed

If you think about it, javert kinda invented the vine boom sound

Jamie G

I’m entertained that you think a woman being fired for having a child out of wedlock in 1823 is somehow shocking. 😂 Women in the US could be fired for getting pregnant in or out of wedlock (or divorced) until 1978!! It took a literal act of Congress to stop it. Yet, in 2010, I was asked in an interview if I “planned to get married and start a family soon”. By the VP. Of HR. 😆👍🏻

Jamie G

Also, for funsies, look up the “Real M tea” breakdown of “Bring Him Home” (on TT). It is one of my absolute favorites & brilliantly done. 🥹

Ashee

I think I cried for 10 minutes straight at the end with you guys holy moly

Anna

OMG Sacha Baron Cohen is the ginger guy who is fantine’s brother!

Takara

gaol is just an older English way of spelling jail. It's the same word, just has gone through some different iterations of spellings!

jess

i have been crying laughing for twenty minutes at troy getting cat hair in his eye during one of the saddest parts of the movie

clementine

NO WAY I JUST SAW THIS…. MY BUTT IS SATTTTT

Kay

Fun facts: all the singing is live, Anne Hathaway actually cut her hair and they had to do that scene in one take, also Anne’s mom played Fantine in the stage production. The behind the scenes for this movie is amazing and would love a Patreon exclusive of you watching the making of! Thanks for watching one of my faves!!!!

Reilly Gramesty

Please please please watch Next to Normal! The pro-shot of the Jack Wolfe cast was just released on YouTube and it is life-changing!

Lauren

I just finished watching (and crying🥲) with you guys and feel like sharing facts bc I love Les Mis: - Aaron Tveit, the guy “who’s eating”, was the original Christian when they brought Moulin Rouge to Broadway - Eponine and Gavroche are canonically brother and sister - Samantha Barks, who played Eponine, is playing Fantine in Les Mis for their Arena tour this year! - Anne Hathaway won an Oscar for her role here

Cole S

okay now let’s watch The Last Five Years please

quintennyson

One of my all time faves fr, got the amazing experience of seeing it on the west end last month and Sam barks who plays eponine in the film was playing fantine and it was absolutely incredible

Molly

The open mouth sobbing at everything Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway does is so accurate

emmapierquet

pls watch next to normal !! there is a free upload on youtube of the pro shot with PBS!

Madi

If y'all want another good cry, watch Grave of the Fireflies. When I tell you this movie killed me.

scarlett jackett

1:52:12 guns as big as all the children type shit😭

Nikki Carter

please tell angie to make her own channel i miss her when she isnt here

kelly dredge

where are the tissues. my god, atleast some good quality toilet paper

Wanda🖤

“i’m going to rip my skin off “ so real

marta matamala mejía

ok but we were all cryiying when fantine came for Jean? i did not remembered how much this musical break me. Thanks for the reminder.

daisy_bey

the June schedule says that hes gonna do The Phantom of the Opera this month! ^^

Michaela v

WAIT ATHELSTAN IS IN THIS??? how did i forget that

Elissa Goetschius

A pillar of Broadway who played Christian when Moulin Rouge was turned into a stage show! Overlap!

Elissa Goetschius

I would love a day where you listen to some of the original West End and/or Broadway recordings of these shows. Or watch reunion concerts. I get very frustrated by how much these singers have to pull back on the music. So much of it is written to be bombastic and the aesthetic choices by Hooper really prevent that. Colm Wilkinson, Patti Lupone, Terrance Mann... And the cast of How I Met Your Mother doing the Confrontation scene during an appearance on the Megan Mullaly Show (!) is a fun bonus.

Jennabeth

and did you hear his opt up while on his run in Moulin Rouge?! l e t h a l.

Ali

Omg yes Cabaret!

beck

hi troy! i used to be able to download episodes to watch offline while i was at work (with no wifi) but it seems like i can’t anymore. if that was a creator choice, it’s no problem! i just wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing anything. love ya and hoping you’ll watch across the universe soon <3

flowerchilde851

I, an agnostic, never felt more religious than I did watching this movie/the ending song in the church. I still sob every time. Still agnostic though lmao

Allison Jenkins

I love when angie is here so much, she says everything about the musical that i am thinking (in regards to troy's questions)

Maria

bro couldve totally edited or *bleeped* out that one piece spoiler......

Lee

Just making sure yall know they did very much give a fuck when he died they were disrupting his funeral because he was the only official who was for the people !! He was the first martyr

Avner Chavez

Has anyone recomended he watch Next to Normal yet I swear it would wreck us all in the best way!

Michelle Cardoso Author

Saw this the year it came out, and my little ignorant teenage ass did not get it. My now 28 year-old self fears she will never recover :'(

TSwizzle

Stop it. You didn't ask who Aaron Tveit is..... just a broadway legend

Ollie Betz

PLEASE WATCH FALSETTOS OMG

ares

it needs to happen asap! it would change his life

koda 👻🎃🦇

I was sobbing so hard and then I choked because he made me laugh so hard and then went back to sobbing I literally almost died 😭😂

Elissa Goetschius

I'm not on discord so I wasn't sure where to put this and it might not be seen, but I feel obligated to share that the pro shot of the 2024 West End production of Next to Normal is leaving PBS on June 30th. It's really tremendous if you can fit it in. Fantastic story and a really compelling, musically complex rock score. It won the Pulitzer back in 2010. 💗

Emely Ventura

Ugh I wish you guys knew the background of the film and musical before watching... ie. some of the broadway stars in the movie, theyre singing live, the original Jean Valjean playing the priest at the end...

Andrew

I'm sorry, but I had to stop watching at the point where you said that Javert would have sided with the January 6th rioters and that you "couldn't wait" to see him come to his end. To think that Javert would have sided with insurrectionists looking to overthrow a legitimate government is such a fundamental misreading of his entire character that it really made me not care about anything else you had to say. You really should take a look at what Volume 5, Book 4 ("Javert Derailed") of the original book has to say about Javert. The entire text is available on Project Gutenberg for free.

Sophie Evavold

Can you please do the phantom of the opera? 😭😍☺️

Coco Suzuki Bradley

please react to Next to Normal, it will change your life

Cam

when Troy misses dialogue and thinks there’s a plot hole I gain one point of insanity

Joie Weaver

Yapping during suddenly is sooooo real, I mentally check out during that song EVERYTIME

Cherry Bitch

I remember wanting to watch this movie at 13 and being so excited when I found out there is a german dubbed version, only to discover that they only dubbed the spoken dialogue and none of the singing. So they effectively dubbed, like, three words. Thank god for subtitles because at the time my English definitely wasn't advanced enough to get all that. If I remember correctly I might've tried watching it without subtitles at first and I was comprehending almost nothing. It also didn't help that at the time we hadn't covered the french revolution in school yet so I didn't even have history as context😂😂😂

Aimee B

Angie crying upon seeing gavroche but trying to rein it in since troy doesn't remember

Aimee B

ANGIE BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL AFTER GAVROCHE CATCHES JAVERT IM DYING

Ariane Charette

I cried with you guys all along omfg hahaha

GEMsMama

Something like the actors union almost didn’t let him open the show on Broadway! At the time, when it transferred across the pond from London, they had a rule about only American actors being casted. But! when the show runners refused to open without Colm, the union caved and made history on Broadway.

GEMsMama

100000% agree!!! Everything would have been fine if they had found an actual baritone to match Valjean. Hugh might not be a true HIGH baritone, but they could have gone with so much better! They didn’t need another “star”.

Frida Helena

Ive watched this maybe 10 times and ive cried every single time

Hyla Sorenson

I adore Troy (obviously, that's why we're all here) but sometimes I think he's so focused on commentating that he misses important things. Yes, the commentary is kind of the whole point but it also is important to hear what's actually happening to be able to react appropriately.

Hyla Sorenson

I love this movie. I sobbed the first two times I saw it. This one, I was holding it all together until the end with my favorite line, "to love another person is to see the face of God." I'm not particularly religious but that's just such a profound line and it evokes a lot of emotion in me.

Hyla Sorenson

Also, living for Angie's eye contact with the camera when Troy was praising Gavroche. :P

Cam C.

i could write a whole 20-page essay on the themes of Les Miserables, but particularly how loving and being loved changes you. from the love valjean is shown by the bishop showing him how he could live his life, which the bishop learned from his love of god and how his god loved him, to the way eponine's love leads her to dying while marius' leads him to surviving, to how javert's love for his government/law/god blinded him until a greater love was shown to him, to how grantaire slept through the revolution, only to wake up just in time to choose to die with enjolras, than man he was in love with, who in turn had organized all of this because of how much he loved his country and his people... i could go on and on and on. then seeing fantine and a dying valjean sing to each other "to love another person is to see the face of god." i'm very nonreligious, but the way religion aides in this story is beautiful.... anyway...
