Content

I asked on socials earlier this month if there was anything particular that folks liked that I did that they wanted more of, and the comment that got the most amount of likes was me returning to my ero-horror roots.

Not gonna lie, I'm feeling it. I've been missing writing horror content for a while.

I've been so burnt out since the holidays that ideas haven't been coming to me as quickly as they used to. Writer's block has never really been a thing I've ever had to deal with, but I've been so mentally exhausted these past few weeks, I dunno what else to call it.

So I thought I'd take some time today to revisit some horror-centric feedism content I've come up with in the past to see if either it inspires me to eat my ashes and come up with something new based on them...or if enough of you all want to see me write a sequel or continuation to anything here.

Horror At Piggy Park

Almost a year ago this day, I shared a teenage story about a summer job I worked at Paramount Canada's Wonderland in the summer and fall of 2006. I was 18, it was my graduating year of high school, but I had to take an extra semester to get a few more credits for my diploma.

As I shared online, things got really spicy for me that summer.

One thing that really stuck with me though, aside from the 20 lbs I gained from eating leftover Whoppers and ice cream, was how creepy the whole part was after dark when it was closed. I remember thinking that its layout and planning reminded me a lot of Resident Evil, so naturally I spent a lot of my shifts day dreaming about it being the epicenter of a zombie outbreak or other catastrophe.

Which, twenty years later, is still the kernel of a decent idea.

'Horror At Piggy Park' sees a group of queer older teens and twenty somethings dealing with the horrors of having to be closeted at home but out amongst your coworkers, just as some body horror biological terror crops up at the theme park they're working summer jobs at.

As the park closes down one night, multiple of the costumed mascot actors are infected with some kind of body horror nonsense. It makes them act crazy, consuming their minds, turning them into monsters. Hungry monsters.

As I currently envision it, it's a character story with a slow burn horror build up, leading to a lot of cat and mouse chases and survival scenes as our main characters try to escape the park.

Is there a secret underground bioweapons lab run by the Trifoil Corporation (the same company that owns and operates the theme park) beneath all their feet, responsible for the infection?

Maybe. Wouldn't that be something?

This is one of those ideas that I'm out of my depth in pursuing. I keep imagining it as some kind of game (similar to Crow Country) or a narrative experience or visual novel with branching paths, where you get to choose your character.

It could be a novella, though, but needs a lot more work.

The Stuffers 2

At the end of September in 2022 I wrote a tweet thread about a supernatural phenomena known as 'The Stuffers'. They were semi-translucent ghostly hands that just appeared one day, latching themselves onto victims who opened their mouths a little too wide. The moment a victim did, the hands would conjure the food they were craving most, then stuff them them with it.

The concept was so well received that a couple years later I hosted a big YCH story anthology, letting people submit their OC's and self inserts into this slow, delicious apocalypse. It went really well.

Since then, I've had a lot of requests to return to this concept. People want more Stuffers content.

I think it could be fun to do, but I'm not sure what else to add to it, or how to approach it from a fresh angle. Heck, even that might be too much, because I have to imagine people just want even more of the same: Creepy vibes and atmosphere, followed by relentless stuffing and weight gain, repeat.

When writing it I was mostly inspired by Junji Ito's Uzumaki. I thought of the Stuffers as a cosmic force pressing their way into our world. Why and exactly how would never be explained, as it worked better when left somewhat vague and up to the reader's imagination.

But maybe there's some wiggle room for exploration.

Maybe a group of isolated scientists staying in a compound around a small town, doing their best to provide a scientific explanation for what the Stuffers are, how they came to be, and ideally...how to neutralize them.

But in the end, they're just slowly watching the world fatten up around them, as resistance to the Stuffers culturally wanes, leaving them alone to fend it off.

One by one, they succumb to their own hungers and desires; the mystery of the Stuffers slipping through their fingers, save for a few theories and ideas.

That could work...

The Weighty Weirdness Of Nilbog County

This one is always at the back of my mind.

I've spent the past 2-3 years slowly building up a shared world that most of my modern day supernatural stories take place in. I've written about it here on Patreon a few times before. The small towns of Nilbog County in the Southern United States are plagued with all manner of paranormal weirdness and weight gain.

It's a place where townspeople skew towards obese, with people being as big as 900 lbs, yet still mobile and relatively healthy, being oddly commonplace. It's a place where several big companies have taken root, peddling their food additives and ingredients through fast food restaurants that result in people turning into enormous blueberries, or being inflated into blimps, only to be disappeared by shadowy government forces. It's a place where 'popping' from over-indulgence, or being forced to grow and swell...is something to be recovered from, so you can do it all again the next day.

I've written a lot of content taking place in Nilbog County, for both patrons, clients, and myself.

At best, it's like Stephen King's Haven, Maine. At worst (and more likely), it's like Chris Chan's CWCville.

Either way, its themes and characters skew towards horror.

Demons are a regular occurrence, as are elder things from myth and folklore, along with new horrors of science run amok and corporate greed outweighing sense and decency, not to mention a handful of terrors from beyond the stars.

I'm tempted to write an anthology of short stories set in this place. Something from a variety of characters' perspectives, but tied together with a central plot thread or investigation.

Perhaps, at long last, Field Agent Janet Q. Hinterghast is put on assignment there to investigate the source of all this weighty weirdness. The Taskforce has ignored it long enough, and sent their poster girl to deal with it.

That could be a lot of fun!

Of course, let me know what you think in the comments. I'd love to hear if you have a favorite out of these three ideas, and any opinions on what I should tackle first.

Oh that fast food one is gonna be GOOD, my corporate feederism gears are already turning (as best as they can while coated in grease)

I’ve always been a big fan of your horror focused stories, and I’m particularly interested in exploring Nilbog county more.

I had a similar experience with weight around the same time. Ice cream stand during the summer. You can guess what happened.
