TL;DR: I’m pausing Oscillation, UE, and ATM to focus on Veil of Chaos. My heart breaks over this decision. Life will break you, but despite that, you have all saved me, despite life's financial pains, growth pains, and the struggle to balance expectations. Patreon rewards will now be available in early Veil chapters. The most helpful thing you can do? Leave a rating/review for Veil on RR.

Dear Patrons,

First off, thank you. You’ve kept me afloat through so much, and I’ll never forget that. I need to be transparent: I’ve hit burnout. Writing 20k+ words a week for years across multiple series while managing family stress and finances isn’t sustainable. Val kept warning me...

So, starting now, I’m pausing weekly chapters of The Oscillation, Undying Empire, and A Tail’s Misfortune. They’ll return, but for now I’m going all-in on Veil of Chaos. This is my best chance to stabilize things. This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made — and the longer I delayed it, the harder it became

What this means for you:

Patreon will now focus on Veil of Chaos. You’ll keep getting early chapters and behind-the-scenes posts. Throughout this week, I will push to get VoC 12 Chapters ahead of the public.

Other perks (like Discord roles) won’t change.

If you joined for TO/UE/ATM specifically, I understand if you adjust your pledge. No guilt — you’ve already helped more than you know.

If you want to help beyond Patreon, the biggest boost you can give is a Royal Road rating/review for Veil of Chaos. Early traction means everything. I put the link on this post; you can see its cover above, with the 9 Greater Deity Moons.

Sincerely, thank you again for your support and belief in me over the years. Not the end, by any means, but I know this is hard on many of you as much as it is for me.

Your names on my Patron list remind me daily that people believe in me. I’m going to fight hard to make Veil of Chaos worth your support — and to bring back the stories you love, including Pokesync, once I have the stability to do so.

2026-09-26 04:00 Hey take all the time you need, I've been writing a few stories myself for years now and while I'm nowhere near as good as you at putting together such cohesive worlds I can honestly say you're one of the few writers I admire doing this. I first started reading your stuff from pokesync on RR, and I've been hooked by TO. I read all of the old version and I've been keeping up to date with the redo. I don't normally comment or speak out but as someone who's been reading your books for years now I had to come here to say as one person to another you're doing great. I don't know what all life is throwing at you but I know my own shit has been easier to handle thanks to the world's you create. I will do my best to catch up on Veil and drop a review. Sorry for all the rambling but I just had to say don't feel like your letting down your fans because speaking as a big fan of yours the insanity you've been doing is nothing less than inspiring. I'll just leave this here but again genuinely love you and I hope things get better soon ❤️🙏🏾

That means a lot, Darby. I'm trying everything I can to make this succeed so I can return to these amazing worlds I hope to finish one day. That includes The Helena Chronicles, Pokesync, and so many others. Thank you for traveling down this road with me. It makes me cry knowing I'm not alone.

You've threatened to strike editing for my health (physical due to me not eating and mental for rarely ever taking breaks). You've been a real friend over the years of support you've given me, Val.

I'm glad you're slowing down. I never talked much, but the couple times I did talk to you, you seemed way too overworked. I'll miss the other stories, but I don't mind a long break on them.

SME

Thanks for being so understanding, Nsixtyfour. I know I shouldn’t cry but I feel like I’ve made so many mistakes that if I had handled things differently I wouldn’t need to make this decision. Then I tell myself that doesn’t help, I am where I am, find a way forward. Find a way I can keep my dream alive. It’s thanks to all of you I’m able to have this dream in the first place.

Everybody makes mistakes, it's a part of life. I know other people who do that and telling them not to worry doesn't help, but you shouldn't worry about the past too much.

I am glad that you are looking out for yourself more Scott mate and in all honesty doing 3-4 series chapters for years on end didn’t seem healthy without proper breaks and won’t lie even I was getting concerned there about that as well for you either way now this has happened take it easily first we are patient the story’s can wait

Dude, no worries. Do what you need to. I've had the heartbreak of seeing too many authors break themselves trying to be some kind of writing machine. Your value to the world isn't how many words you write per week, but how much joy you bring to the world. TO/UE/ATM will be there waiting for you to pick them back up when you're ready. Currently reading VoC now.

SME

Thank you. I’m doing good and VoC just barely got in Rising Stars. I’m trying to keep up momentum.
