Content

This is a tough choice, by design so just vote honestly.
What do you think Vince should go with?

I don't want to skew the results one way or the other, the story will continue regardless of what you guys choose. So don't use me as an excuse for your decision! >:U

The "Sylveon Saga" will be on pause while poll is going. With some Hector content being sprinkled here and there.

So here's the plan, the poll will only initially be opened to $10+ members.
I'll increase it to $+5 members 2 days before the deadline and $3+ a day before. So stay sharp, stay alert!.

Deiser

I'm using you as an excuse for my decisions.

Kygro

I'll be happy no matter which way this goes, but damn it if this isn't a hard choice!

Mythic Ender

Given personal history I'd have to argue to keep burning on... and with the framing of the last post with Vince and the alter ego...it feels like giving in is equal to suicide( if not of the body of the self atleast...sorry)

ConChrCoo

You guys are so mean..my poor Vincy..

RocRolDis

I voted for him to keep fighting due to the implications of the stranglehold post. I want to see Vince come to accept his new self without degrading into a feral pokemon or having a death of self. Maybe that means dealing with more animalistic urges and new feral instincts. Maybe it doesn't. I don't wanna lose my favorite girl failure loser boy.

Mor14

Talk about a tough choice! I'm going with letting the inner Sylveon out, but only because I suspect resisting might cause more trouble.

M. Livius Drusus

...Hm. Tough choice. On the one hand, 'giving in' gives me a bad feeling... ...But on the other hand, 'keep fighting' doesn't seem... exactly *healthy* for Vince's long-term stability, either. Quite the dilemma!

ConChrCoo

I doubt this is going to have a reversal in poll %..so I guess it’s time to say goodbye to Vince…

ConChrCoo
>>157438400

I think enduring and trying to improve is better than throwing yourself away. I doubt having an ego death fixes your underlining mental problems like a mended wound.

ConChrCoo
>>157431093

I fear he may go feral, because of what home mess p2 is possibly hinting at, which would be a bad ending. Hope if he does go feral he manages to return to normal.

Mythic Ender
>>157521760

Never know...but if it does roll that way i feel sorry for hector.. lads tryin hard and if vince is gone... given he thought he failed him once, i doubt coming back having felt like he should have been there for em instead of the gala is gonna hurt like hell.

Sean

Too curious to not choose accept

that guy

the concept (and reality) of growing attached to a character and then to lose them (possibly forever) is something that makes my brain dread.

noob

voting on sylvie to win means more cute sylveon art!! :3

ConChrCoo
>>157724784

I really think you should reconsider. The story will continue with Vince being a sylveon whether or not he chooses to give in. If you don’t care about Vince as a character then atleast abstain from voting..although if you vote for him to stay on the right path that would be much appreciated!!

that guy
>>157724784

vince is still going to physically a sylveon no mater what this poll picks so ???

noob
>>157724784

i bought the 10 dollar tier just to vote on this

noob
>>157724784

staying on course feels like the less cutesy and girly girl route tho sooo

noob

i am very able and willing to make 10 trillion alt accounts when the voting drops to the 3$ tier she shall give in!!

ConChrCoo
>>157733704

Please..I just want Vince to be happy, and giving in won’t lead to that. Because it won’t be him that’s happy, it’ll be his alter ego.

ZetaMaxR

I really hope Vince can hold out. I don't see how giving in can end well at all. And judging by most of the comments I've been seeing on the posts here and elsewhere, many agree....but the vote doesn't seem to be going that way. I wonder if many that voted for Vince to give in think that there will be more cute art if he does while not really thinking about what it means to the story and how badly this will likely end. The way its framed comes off as ego death to me, and there is no way that's a good thing.

Mythic Ender
>>157740341

And hell theres nothing stopping more cute art with vince being around.Heck given more time and aid from hector( what with the gala and possible promotion) does leave the door open for more cute art and them adapting further to the change.

2if7

Maybe this is just me hoping that it isn't going to be ego death... But I have made my choice. To me, Vince is going to be Vince. That's my belief until something confirms it is wrong. The imagery is disconcerting, but I will not see it as ego death. Not unless something can confirm that. The past isn't going to die, those memories aren't going to fade, the lens they're seen through will just be shifted. That's... My belief in what may happen.

ConChrCoo
>>158020128

What could happen is still up in the air, although it doesn’t sound like it’s good. Thwill has memory wiped people in the past in her comics so it is entirely possible for those memories to be faded forever. In P5 of home mess, Vince mentions Theseus’s ship and he speculates on whether he should keep this broken ship much longer. Which would be referring to his psyche. I think giving in would be an ego death, or atleast, so likely to be an ego death that it can be assumed until we get further info, if we ever get further info before the poll closes.

2if7
>>158020128

Yeah, but I'm on the side that it won't be an ego death, just a change of lens since it is up in the air and with the Ship of Theseus mention. But yes those are good points, but those cases had their mental changes also come from outside sources... I think. But fair enough concern there.

ConChrCoo
>>158020128

If Vince was going to just stay as himself even after giving in, then there wouldn’t be much use for this poll..

2if7
>>158020128

...Yeah that's a very good point. I'm not changing my vote, but I will definitely keep this in mind. I mean it could still be a radical change in personality, behavior, reactions, dreams, hopes, and stuff even if the memories are still there... But... Yeah.

ConChrCoo
>>158020128

I didn’t see this reply, sorry. That’s fine, I won’t argue further. If Vince does end up going down the second path and it is an ego death, I hope his old self can slowly fuse with his new self, like with Pardonne and her mad scientist past self.

2if7
>>158020128

I hope the same too. Thanks for the little argument by the way, the food for thought has been tasty.

that guy

As much as i wish for this to be a "who will win" poll i dont think it it. The way im seeing this now is that this is a "is vince ok with lossing" because no matter what vince wants or dose sylve-chan already has everything thing she needs to take over. This is not a fight anymore this is a realization. (Still hopeing for vince to not give in tho)

ConChrCoo
>>158079443

She has everything except his consent to take over, which is needed I believe, hence why she’s trying to make him give in. It’s better for Vince to realize his issues without giving in to this alter ego demon thing, what’s been needed to be said has been said for Vince to realize what he needs to do, or atleast that’s what I believe.

that guy
>>158079443

I agree that he needs to realize his issues and solve without giving in but at this point even if he did the sylveon has complete control of him (as seen with her towering over him in the latest piece of art)

ConChrCoo
>>158079443

Not complete control over him. I believe the sylveon chose this moment to strike because Vince was at his most vulnerable in a while. The sylveon or “alter ego” wants to get Vince to give up control before it runs out of steam and fades back into the corners of his mind. Atleast that’s my view.

that guy
>>158079443

it feels more like the house rigging the cards but yeah i see your point (and i really hope your right)

ConChrCoo
>>158079443

If you’re right or I’m right about the severity, if he gives in..it won’t matter, because then, he’ll have the same result either way. He’ll lose and be taken over.

MewNusvi

I personally just see the second option as "there's no point in fighting for the past, might as well just roll with the punches and go forward".

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

I see it as throwing away your old self and getting replaced with a new one. I think this because of the mention of Vince wondering if he should keep the old broken ship that is himself, along with “Vince was always the problem” from the alter-ego. Therefore I don’t think that giving in would be a good thing, Hector isn’t doing all this for an alter-ego that’s derived from Vince’s thoughts, he’s going through all this stress and pain for the Vince he knows.

MewNusvi
>>158517958

The thing is, it's very ambiguous. The votes themselves don't say that much, and the latter just doesn't sound like self-deprecation or anything, and more like a start of acceptance. Not saying it can't be that or anything, but it IS meant to be a tough choice, hence my guess.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

What do you mean the vote themselves don’t say that much? As for self-depreciation, I feel like the alter-ego entity has said what has needed to be said to Vince to push the story forward and, allow Vince to grow and accept his feelings towards Hector. I don’t see a reason for the alter-ego to take over at this point besides wanting a one and done solution to Vince’s conflicting emotions..which is not a good way to go about your mental problems in the long term.

MewNusvi
>>158517958

I may just have forgotten about some details in the pages; did the idea of explicitly taking over get brought up or something?

MewNusvi
>>158517958

I meant to add a paragraph, but the poll itself is more vague in comparison, since the wording can mean a few things.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

No, but I believe it was heavily hinted at with the things I mentioned before, with the Alter-ego making Vince think thoughts such as “Vince is the problem” and “Vince has always been the problem”. Along with Vince saying, or thinking, "I've compared my situation to the ship of Theseus before and now I'm just left wondering... how much of that old worthless broken ship is worth keeping?" This is referring to his current self, and this was said/thought after all the manipulation from the alter-ego. Not to mention how ominous the p5 art is..Due to these things I believe the alter-ego isn’t just trying to get Vince to do something good like “accept his feelings” or “change as a person for the better”, but is instead trying to fully replace him.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

Oh, well I don’t think you should go off the poll’s wording as a way to interpret what “giving in” entails due to it not being in the canon story itself..but if you want to then I’ll just have to agree to disagree with you on that point.

MewNusvi
>>158517958

To be fair, I went to double-check P5 just in case, and while I get what you mean, there's worth in mentioning that Vince talks about just accepting things instead of fighting himself, akin to denial. Honestly, yeah, I still think it's left kinda vague at least half on purpose.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

I think that last bit of text was actually from the alter-ego making Vince think certain things once again, it doesn’t match up with the flow of the words before. The alter-ego had been conflating Vince and itself as the same person or “self” on purpose throughout the entirety of home mess. So I believe that the end text about letting himself be free and not fighting himself, is actually referring to the alter-ego. The alter-ego wants Vince to give in so it can take over, likely because it hates the fact that Vince has control, yet he can’t do the things it would do, like confess love to Hector.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

(Also sorry if I randomly stop replying for a while sometimes patreon chat just doesn’t update for an hour for some reason)

Mythic Ender
>>158517958

While maybe not connected exactly. I'm wondering if the alter has steered things before... (like during the good morning pic [the eyes were all heart shaped and seemed a bit out of left field] and then the follow up Hector asked and Vince didn't want to talk about it.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

Yes, based on how casual and unsurprised Vince sounded while talking to it in the beginning of home mess, it should be assumed this alter-ego has been messing with Vince for a while. I’m fairly certain it’s the reason Vince suddenly had trouble doing basic chores and waking in home mess part 3 when he seemingly could do them fine before. One of his pupils was a heart eye.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

The heart-eyes are a clear sign the alter-ego is messing with his mind and/or body. In the good morning instance, it probably took control of his emotional state since he was likely groggy and cloudy headed mentally since it was the morning. After he fully woke up it’s like “what was I thinking?” And he didn’t want to talk about it after since it was embarrassing.

2if7
>>158517958

I believe the same too. And I still believe it'll be fine. But to see if I'm wrong or right, to test my hypothesis, I... I really hope that option 2 is voted on.

MewNusvi
>>158517958

Honestly, I'm starting to think the sight might be Vince's self-conscious, somewhat. From the very moment he evolved, it was clear that he cares alot for Hector (regardless of specifics), for example. It might honestly be a metaphor for stopping constantly fighting for the past when you can look at the present instead ("new me", for example, and how Vince apparently was an underachiever and was shown trying to be useful while Hector is away).

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

I don’t think Thwill is the type to pull a fast one and have everything be actually fine when the content has been hinting at otherwise

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

I don’t think it’s his self-consciousness though, it may be formed from some self-conscious thoughts amongst other thoughts. But if it was purely just a manifestation of his self-consciousness, I believe the wording would be more focused on how it could make everything right and give him what he wants. Instead of how it is now with the gas-lighting being focused mainly on making Vince think he loves Hector more than he actually did in the at that point. With only the manipulation to convince Vince that “Vince was always the problem” happening later on.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

Are there any Pokémon evolutions that are slow? I’m having trouble understanding your point.

MewNusvi
>>158517958

He pulled a fast one on us. It looked like a dire situation and turned into a half-gag.

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

That..would be the best outcome if option two wins, maybe it’ll be a “Christmas miracle” (poll ends on Christmas Day)

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

I believe that the metaphor you’re describing is flawed. I don’t think Vince is trying to live in the past or fight for it..How I’m seeing it, with the alter-ego constantly trying to confuse Vince by making him think truths and lies mixed together, and using “I” and “me” when describing both himself and/or the alter-ego, the alter-ego wants Vince to give in and throw his old self away (which is Vince) and let his new self to be free (which is the alter-ego) not to make Vince succeed or be better, but to be the one steering the ship, in control. Even if this was nothing more than a personality change, you can’t just throw yourself away and wear the mask of a different person to try to fix your issues. You have to grow and change organically otherwise you’ll still have problems, they’ll just show up later and in different ways. At the end of the day I see this as nothing more than a ploy for control over Vince’s body. (Sorry if I yapped too much)

ConChrCoo
>>158517958

Your optimism befuddles me, if option 2 wins and Vince isn’t fine in the story you’ll owe me 10,000$!!
