🌙 ACTIVATION EXERCISE 9: Pause Protocol (Patreon)
Content
Create room for your consciousness to choose.
Now that you explored Foundation 5 and Foundation 6 and found your trigger feeling in Activation 8, you can work with it. The trigger feeling is the moment right before an automatic behavior takes over. This moment is the gap and it’s a fraction of a second where free will is still possible before a conditioned response runs.
You’re about to use this exercise to create that gap.
THE PAUSE PROTOCOL
For the next week, whenever you feel the trigger from Activation 8 (the specific internal state before an automatic behavior) don’t try to stop the behavior.
Instead: pause. Intentionally take three slow, deep breaths.
That's all you need to do. Pause. Take three slow, deep breaths before the behavior continues.
During your three slow, deep breaths notice the trigger feeling without trying to change it. You might feel the urge to do resist it, or fix it. Don’t. Be one with it.
Then do whatever you were going to do.
You’re not changing the behavior. You're inserting a three-breath gap between the trigger and the response. It’s going to be effective and easy. You will catch the trigger every time and take three slow, deep breaths.
DO THIS EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK
Do this every time you notice the trigger for one week.
It's highly recommended to journal or keep track of your experiences. Note how many times you insert the three breath pause over the course of the week.
By the end of the week...
Did you notice a difference? Maybe the behavior didn’t change, but what about the trigger feeling itself? Is it less automatic... less urgent? Even a little?
It's common for the trigger feeling to decrease in power within several days of this practice. The three breath pause is the intervention.
REPORT BACK
After one week: describe any shift in the quality of the trigger feeling… even if it’s subtle.
