Just watched your reaction to this. Glad to see you enjoyed it! This is definitely a Christmas movie! I’ve no idea how familiar you are with Bruce Willis’ early career but he was relatively famous for a really good (and unusual) TV show called Moonlighting that ran for 5 seasons / 67 episodes from 1985 to 1989. https://youtu.be/pPZI9aQLhgk?si=slmAfUVMVSDQoHe- At the time there was a lot of debate about whether or not Willis could carry a movie like Die Hard because he was *only* a TV actor and certainly not an action hero but after its huge success Die Hard made him a superstar. The Nakatomi Plaza building is currently called 2121 Avenue of the Stars and was formerly called Fox Plaza. It has shown up in a few different movies. Yes the men were betting on whether or not Takagi would cooperate. Nice of you to catch that! Most other reactions I’ve seen, no one seems to notice that. Yes idea with the tank top is that it gets dirty in the ducts. Willis’ scar between his arm and chest is from a surgical procedure when he was a teenager. Alan Rickman did the close up fall stunt for real and his expression as he fell was really one of terror as he was dropped earlier than expected by the stunt crew: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/alan-rickman-got-tricked-die-hard-fall-1280396/ If you want to see another good movie with Alexander Godunov, who played Karl Vreski in this movie, check out “Witness” (1985). Oh and it also stars Harrison Ford! And some more excellent Bruce Willis movies you should see are Pulp Fiction (1994), 12 Monkeys (1995), The Sixth Sense (1999) and Unbreakable (2000). The last 3 of those movies are set in and or around Philadelphia which is particularly fun for me as I’m from the area, lived in the city for several years and have family there.

Thanks for sharing all those behind-the-scenes facts about Die Hard. "Moonlighting" sounds fascinating, we'll have to check that out. We have heard of it but never saw it. The Alan Rickman fall story is wild! I'll be sure to add "Witness" and those Bruce Willis recommendations to our watchlist. Thanks for watching this one with us!!

In the scene where he throws it down the elevator shaft, the things that John inserts into the blocks of C4 are the blasting caps, which are necessary for the explosives to detonate.

John is moments from being discovered in the ductwork when Sgt. Al Powell arrives downstairs. Karl is called away. Carolyn: "Saved by the bell!" Me: "No, Family Matters."
