Summer Glau (River) is a ballet dancer by training. Some of the best shots are her walking barefoot on the ship. The idea of using proprioception and Rivers gracefulness as a connection with Serenity is brilliant thread throughout the series. River moving through the diffused light of the grating on the derelict is just a beautifully composed shot. One thing they did with the series and having so many characters is how well they maintain multiple story threads without compromising any of them. Each character gets their time and their personality gets to come out. The other thing is having a group of people that are widely divergent in in their outlooks, philosophies and beliefs, all actually communicating with each other.

She moves so gracefully that we should have guessed she is a trained dancer. We will keep an eye out for those shots.

Great reaction, thanks! Did number counting come back? :) The interrogation scene really reveals all of the characters personalities. One thing I'm curious about is if you found any dialog bad for 2025? A previous reacter's comment was not liking "Jayne, you'll scare the women." Certainly, they created their own cadence and most shows are written for their time. (I'm also saying that because work had something that said saying "you guys" for a group of mixed gender people is potentially problematic. It's good to know and realize that. Also, since then, several women, including my manager, has used that phrase. Hard habit to break.) River's dialog makes sense in hindsight, as I'm sure you have seen. Warning Simon about the Reaver on board. Knowing what was happening. By now, I know you have seen the movie, so hopefully that was a good pay off for you! Summer was the prima ballerina in an Angel episode, IIRC, which is how Joss knew about her and helped her get this role. Obviously, if my comments annoy, let me know! Really happy to watch it with you two! First reacters I have supported and done the watch along. Take care!

We enjoy your comments, keep them coming! We may not be able to answer them all but we do read everything. You'll have to refresh my memory - does Zoe say that line to Jayne? Was it sarcastic?

Jon Goranson

Zoe says it when Jayne won't have anything to do with the ship once it has been determined reavers were involved. Zoe said the line to him and was absolutely mocking him! (~21:54) Thanks! Take care!
