Y’all are so brave. I’m sure the reaction was great. No way lm watching this movie again, Jeff’s acting was amazing. 🎃 👻 🎃

This movie and The Thing I don't find scary at all...just gross to watch, lol. The Exorcist is super scary, creepy, and gross...nightmare fuel!

Harvey Lee

There cannot be a luke warm reaction to the Fly🪰😲 Every reactor has a visceral reaction to this , And you're both so brave for watching it 👍 Can't wait for your reaction to it . From Body Horror legend David Cronenberg with Jeff Goldblum giving an incredible performance . And it won the Oscar for Best make up effects that year ... well deserved I'd say 🤘

thansen

Never been a fan of Cronenberg's movies, though I do like both Goldlum and Davis in this film. It's more gross than scary and even though the idea is fascinating and the situation horrifying, I found the 50s version better. The final scene really is the stuff of nightmares.

Whatevers! You've nearly completed the best 80s horror remake amazing practical effects trifecta! One more to go! "The Thing" (1982) ✅ "The Fly" (1986) ✅ "The Blob" (1988)

REDR58

Oh, do the original “The Blob” (1958) first! It’s more funny than scary and was partially filmed in the town where I live!

REDR58

Horror movies don’t scare me, but some gross things are hard to look at!

This movie is disgusting. Thanks for reacting to it😄. The big guy that gets his arm broken arm wrestling is former Canadian heavyweight boxing champion George Chuvalo. He fought Ali twice and lost by unanimous decision both times. In all his 93 professional bouts he was never knocked down.

My favorite takeaway for this version of the film is how it was a social commentary on the public scare over the A.I.D.S. epidemic. Very little was still understood about the virus at the time, and many of the conversations and "scares" in this film are directly related to public perception of how A.I.D.S. may affect a person. Thank goodness we kept asking the right questions.

Totally Whatever

We will never look at donuts the same! Maybe that's a good thing. lol

Totally Whatever

Thanks for sharing, Shawn. We had no idea that this was a social commentary about the A.I.D.S. epidemic. Watching it again with that insight would result in a different reaction.

ButtercupsTrueLove

This was a novel take on "The Fly" but having watched the original starring Al (David) Hedison on TV as a kid I sort of wish that the story lines had converged to incorporate something closer to the original's ending.

I saw this movie once before, a few years ago, and it was a fun and gross rewatch with you guys. - Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis were married shortly after this movie, which might explain some of the chemistry between their characters. - I am a sucker for women in nylons, although you don't see much of it anymore. Definitely some awesome 1980s style along with the big hair! Classic 80s. - I was starting to be concerned as to why Carolyn kept looking to her side and then when I realized she was looking at a spider, it only increased her tension for a horror film about insects. - I agree, I would never have tried that steak that was put through the telepod. - I find it funny that the bearded horny guy ended up being a protagonist. Shows how well character development can happen during a movie. Carolyn called the dude a "trashbag". That was funny. - I laughed when Nanette said the baboon was "mad about his brother monkey" being killed. - I don't think I have ever seen the two of you so grossed out during a reaction before - I am not one much for allegories, but I agree with many who say this 1986 version of the movie was a subtle commentary on AIDS. Folks tend to forget just how terrifying AIDS was around the time this film came out. Many say that people were ignorant, but I think they were just plain scared. Seth Brundle's horrifying, cellular decay and mutation, the stigma and fear his character dealt with, and the hyper-sexualization he had can all be seen as analogies to the AIDS virus during the mid-1980s.

Totally Whatever

We say that they were married after we watched - it all makes sense now. Carolyn always comes up with the best nicknames for characters. 🤣 Thanks for watching with us.

Great reaction. As far as body horror goes, I don't think it gets any better (worse?) than this.

Totally Whatever

Thanks, Joel! We made it through one of the best (worst) - is there a metal? ;)

when i went back to see your previous movies and saw that you lovely, nice, ladies watched this horrific ^#^**storm of a %%$ gross and $**&*#@ with all the @#^$$*. I knew I had to watch. To be fair I watch you two way more than I actually watch the movie. No movie turned my stomach ever like this movie. Way to survive it
