Yes! Looking forward to some vintage Arnold to pair with our vintage Nanolyn! 😁

Harvey Lee

The practical effects in this are awesome courtesy of Rob Bottin and a crew of impressive artists who shared an academy award for special achievement in special effects . This is part of the unofficial PAUL VERHOEVEN sci fi trilogy which includes Total Recall Robocop and Starship troopers , i know you've both seen those two already , you can see the similar patterns in them and some of the same actors like Ronny Cox who played Cohaagen in this and Dick Jones in Robocop Toronto actor Micheal Ironside as Richter in Total Recall , he was Lt Rascak in Starship Troopers the teacher who was missing an arm. Lots of over the top action with ARNEEE and his usual ARNEEE sounds . and eye popping visuals [yes i had to say it 🤣] Thanks N+C ❤️

I love when we get stuff from the vault. Get your ass to Mars😆

Very enjoyable reaction, Nanolyn! This movie is so brilliantly campy. The plot and dialog are often ridiculous, but the film is so much fun because it never takes itself too seriously. The many twists keep the viewer from ever feeling confident about what's really happening, and then the final twist changes everything you thought you knew, illuminating many plot details that originally seemed nonsensical. I love how both of you kept (understandably) asking, "Why are they keeping him alive?" Well, you found at at the end! BTW, you two were absolutely *made* for reacting to this type of camp! I cannot tell you how much I love your snark. Your mockery of silly plot elements was hilarious and completely on point! 🤣 Favorite quotes: Nanette: "He looks like a Cabbage Patch doll... but one that was rejected." Carolyn: "He just killed Miss Three-Boob!" Random notes: • While being weirded out by the "Johnny Cab" drivers, you accurately identified the concept of the "uncanny valley" without ever using the actual phrase. If you're unfamiliar with the idea, it basically means that people react positively towards humanoid objects (such as robots) if they look vaguely human or if they look *very* human. However, there's a range of sorta-but-not-really human that draws a strong negative response, almost revulsion... exactly how you two responded to the "Johnny Cab" robots! • BTW, when I first saw this movie, I remember being completely smitten by Rachel Ticotin, who plays Melina. Sharon Stone? Meh. Certainly pretty, but just another cookie-cutter, Hollywood blonde in my eyes. But Rachel Ticotin was beautiful and exotic, and younger Phil was swooning! 😍 • Nanette, you called it so early with the traitorous Benny! Very impressive! • Carolyn, when you filmed this reaction, you apparently hadn't yet begun your love affair with breaking glass! I was so looking forward to what I imagined would be a complete glee-fest, only for you to react very little. What movie(s) cemented your love of shards? Thanks again, my friends, for a very enjoyable time!

The movie is set in the year 2084. Many of the interiors and exteriors were filmed in Mexico City, except for the exterior Mars sequences were filmed in Nevada. The Johnnycab robot taxi driver is just a puppet voiced by Robert Picardo who has been in a bunch of other good movies such as “Innerspace” (1987) with Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, and “The ‘Burbs” (1989) with Tom Hanks but is probably most famous for playing The Doctor on Star Trek Voyager. The scenes in the Earth train station with all the concrete stairway areas were filmed inside the Mexico City Metro train station. After Quaid rips out the Johnny cab driver and steals a cab and the guys are running after him shooting , you can see a great big red and blue ad in the upper left corner of the background for a brand “Peñafiel” which is a Mexican mineral water. All the vertically oriented TV screen is really bug me. It’s like staring at cell phones all the time but worse! When the tracking bug comes out of Quaid’s nose it’s definitely a fake puppet head. Roy Brocksmith playing Dr. Edgemar who tired to convince Quaid to take the pill is also in the movie “Arachnophobia” (1990) which you should check out! How did their eyeballs go back? The air pushed it back in! 😵‍💫➡️💨➡️😄 Since you two liked this movie so much, I recommend “Basic Instinct” (1992), a crazy crime drama with Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas and “Starship Troopers” (1997), both directed by Paul Verhoeven.

Totally Whatever

This was one of our first Arneee movies - we didn't appreciate him as much, I fear. lol. Are there any more Paul Verhoeven films you would recommend?

Totally Whatever

😆 the vault makes us nervous - we often watch these back and say, "what were we thinking?"

Totally Whatever

Happy to hear that you really enjoyed it! This is one of our first Arnie movies - it marks the beginning of our love of 80s & 90s action. Carolyn's fascination with broken glass really solidified ;) during Die Hard!

Totally Whatever

🤣 the eyeball tutorial via emojis is killing me!! It all makes sense now. We do react “Starship Troopers” on YT, but our Full-length reaction is still locked in the vault - maybe it can be the next one released.

Harvey Lee

It's a rare one Flesh +Blood which was Verhoeven's first English language film is a medieval action film With Rutger Hauer (Roy Batty from Blade Runner) And Jennifer Jason Leigh and it is a good one. Basic Instinct is an erotic thriller starring Sharon Stone that is fairly notorious . I don't know if it suits your tastes but it's up to the two of you N+C Enjoy the evening !

REDR58

Awesome! Hope that works out.

Is Titanic in the vault? I'd probably reactr it if not if you're up for a rewatch.

Totally Whatever

We have both seen Titanic - a long time ago - but we haven't done a reaction to it.

NEIL HOPPER

WTF!!! Are you kidding me! Your reactions to the opening titles are the only reason any of us watch this channel!!! That’s it, banned for life…oh, wait….Nanette is sporting blonde hair here? Hubby hubby!
