You know, if you go to the right convenience store/bodega/gas station mini-mart, you can probably find candy that is ACTUALLY still there from the 80s and 90s. That's the REAL challenge. 🤣🤣

And now, the "AKSHOOALLY" 🤓segment of the comment section: Pop Rocks were first introduced in 1974, but temporarily off the market between 1980 and 1986. Pixy Stix have been around since 1943. Airheads introduced in 1985. War Heads were invented in Taiwan in 1975, but not introduced in the US until 1993. 2:23 HAhAHA you guys needed a rinse! 🤣🤣 Tootsie Fruit Chews were introduced in the 1970s. eFrutti Gummy Pizza didn't exist until 2003. Creme Savers, an offshoot of Life Savers (Nabisco), were introduced in 1998 partially in response to Hershey's hard candy TasteTations. They were discontinued in 2011, but returned in 2021. Skittles were invented in the UK and first distributed in the US in 1979. Smarties, first produced in 1949, introduced X-Treme Sour and Tropical Smarties in 2011. Tart 'n Tiny candies were first made in the '60s and sold under the Willy Wonka brand in the '80s, then discontinued in the '90s. Sour Punch first arrived in the '90s. Now 'n Laters were invented in 1962. Firehouse Flavors, the company that makes Tongue Torchers, was founded in 2004. The candy is a replica of Ferrara Candy Company's Atomic Fireballs that have been around since 1954. (at first I thought you were saying "Tongue Tortures"....which is just obscene! 😳🫢🤣🤣) Cry Baby bubble gum was first made in 1991 by the Philadelphia Gum Co., now sold by Tootsie Roll, Inc. Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape (Wrigley's) was first introduced in 1988. I was rooting for the '80s, but I have to give the award to the 90s box because they had 3 candies actually from the '90s.

This was really funny. I'm glad you enjoyed the retro treats:)

Wow, that was a serious candy data download! Thanks, Bill! 👍🏻👍🏻

I don't know which was funnier: Nanette's sour faces or Carolyn trying to blow a bubble! What we *really* need to see are the spit takes that were surely edited out... 😂 BTW, we had the wax bottles way back in the '70s. I also remember candy cigarettes long before I encountered the bubble gum variety.

Pell Mell, Vice Ray, Cool.... smoke 'em if ya got 'em! 🚬

Bill W

I always see stuff online such as "Only 90s kids remember this...." and I'm like- "I had one of those in 1978!" So I was curiously checking for accuracy. 😀

Bill W

Carolyn, those Tongue Torchers have capsaicin like chili peppers. They allegedly rate 3500 on the Scoville scale. Nanette..... the Warheads have citric acid but it's the malic acid coating that gives them its brief intensity. The Sour Punch have fun flavor names: Chargin' Cherry, Strikin' Strawberry, Zappin' Apple, Zip Zappin' Watermelon and Blue Razzmatazz! 🤣🤣

Totally Whatever

Thanks for the research, Bill. I need to enunciate a bit better next time I discuss those Tongue Torchers!

Totally Whatever

We are loving the candy trivia!! Have you tried a Tongue Torcher or Warhead?

Bill W

Well... it was "torture" for Carolyn. 😀 Several Chicago based candies in there... Ferraro Candy Co., Tootsie Roll, Inc., Wrigley's Gum.... I've had both Warheads and Atomic Fireballs once or twice many years ago. Of the two, I prefer Fireballs. Never heard of Tongue Torchers until today! I used to chew Big Red too!!! I remember when regular Hubba Bubba first came out. The big selling point is that it was already soft, and it wasn't sticky- so if you blew a bubble, it wouldn't stick to your face. Bubble Yum was another brand, but most of us preferred Bubblicious because it had the strongest/best flavor.

But the people have a right to know! 😁 Shouldn't there be a "Totally Spit Takes" tier to get this content? 😝
