You are in for a wild ride with They Live! Before you put on the sunglasses, here is a cool fact to blow your mind: The movie's most famous line, "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass..." wasn't even in the script! Roddy Piper (the lead) actually improvised it on the spot using a line he had written down for his wrestling interviews. It makes that scene 10x cooler knowing it was unscripted. Can’t wait to see your reaction. Keep being awesome!" And Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal, you two are like soulmates with these two people, but which one of you is soulmates with which one, I'll tell you later. Please don't forget their movies either?

Wade Wallenstein

Wonderful reaction! Great film with some of the most iconic lines ever written. It was Roddy Piper himself who came up with the now famous one-liner "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum". According to director John Carpenter, Piper had previously written the line in his notebook of potential verbal bits during his wrestling career. He shared the notebook with Carpenter, and they agreed that this particular line fit the character and the film perfectly. Piper went on to use it at a wrestling match. The big fight sequence was designed, rehearsed and choreographed in the back-yard of director John Carpenter's production office. The fight between Nada (Roddy Piper) and Frank (Keith David) was only supposed to last twenty seconds, but Piper and David decided to fight it out for real, only faking the hits to the face and groin. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. Carpenter was so impressed he kept the scene intact, which runs five minutes, twenty seconds. Years later on the documentary, In Search of Darkness: A Journey Into Iconic '80s Horror (2019) David recounted the event, smiling giddily as he said, "It was good fun! I never felt safer in any fight," as Piper, a professional wrestler, coached David on how to sell the look of the punches and savage moves in exaggerated form, making it appear more brutal than it actually was. Roddy Piper credited John Carpenter and "They Live" with jump-starting the wrestler-turned-actor migration. "I was the first wrestler ever in the history of wrestling to star in a major studio motion picture that became #1 box office of the weekend, and that gave the itch to I don't know how many wrestlers. And not one of them to this day has put out a quality picture like this, and not one of them has had a #1 hit like this."

The great Rowdy Roddy Piper. A great wrestler, hardly recognize him without his kilt. Thanks ladies, a terrific way to kill an afternoon. And as always, never leave home without your bubble gum. Boobs/80s

Totally Whatever

I can't believe that wasn't scripted! Too funny!! We definitely need to do a Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal film.

Totally Whatever

So Roddy Piper was the first! We were wondering. So glad you liked our reaction to this one.

Totally Whatever

Ha ha, thanks for watching with us! Maybe if he had his kilt on, we would have recognized him right away.

Wade Wallenstein

I've been a lifelong Pro-Wrestling fan so seeing Piper in this after only knowing him from the World Wrestling Federation at the time was a mind blower! "Thunderlips" from Rocky 3 is the late Hulk Hogan 😁

Wrestlers are well suited to being good actors. I remember Jerry Lawler on Letterman with Andy Kaufman. Mr. Lawler said “I don’t do comedy, you shouldn’t wrestle.” But Andy was the straight man during that whole brilliant thing.

What if you do bad? Pile-driver?

I must have my shades on for this one 😎 John Carpenter's clever satire on what's with media manipulation and who's really in charge ( at least that 's my takeaway from it ) Delivered as a cool Sci Fi horror action adventure Roddy Piper who's Canadian by the way , was as you may know by now Famous for being a villain from one of wrestling's best eras It was cool to see him as a hero after his famous stint as wrestling's best "heel " as the villains are called . Plus you have the always great Keith David and the lovely Meg Foster (those hypnotic eyes 👀) Makes for an awesome movie . Thanks N+C♥️🖤

Totally Whatever

That’s the perfect word - hypnotic!! You can’t look away.
