Talking about [Yennefer's Solace] animation and announcing the next one. (Patreon)

Hi. I couldn’t make it in time yesterday, but today works as well. Now that the animation is done, I don’t really know how I feel about it. If I had to rate the two parts separately, I’d say the first one is… an eeeeeight, maybe? And the sec
ond part.......a four.
Overall, the whole piece has problems, but the second part definitely has the most.:
Inconsistent lighting.Different shots had slightly different lighting setups to keep things readable. Individually, they don’t look that bad. But once you put them together in sequence, you realize what a mess it is.I think I need to go back and redo the last shot, I can't stand it's color grading.
Compare this to the first part when it had a single angle and a lighting setup. Much easier to do.
ACES color space.ACES ACES ACES ACES, everybody's talking about ACES nowadays. I was working with Filmic and everything was fine. Then I heard about ACES and decided to try it.Obviously without fully understanding how everything ties together at the end, or even why you would need (or wouldn’t need) it in the first place.I noticed that if you change your working space from Rec.709 to ACEScg, all your vertex colors and normal maps get incorrectly converted, edges of the maps will have wrong colors and you'll get this:
It was fixed for the rest of the shots as soon as I finally realized what was causing the problem:
Questionable direction/camera.This is subjective, but I kind of don't like how I put everything together. Like something isn't right, but I can't figure out what exactly by myself.
Timings on the last scene.Didn't do a test render - eat shit. That's exactly what happened. Now the hand moves too quickly, without any pause and I can't even fix this in post.
There were also some minor problems with simulations, but they don't really matter right now anyway.
What matters is the next animation, take a look:Look at these intricate details and fluidity of the motion. Who sees the vision?
This is the plan, ideally before the March 8.
Bye bye.
