I’ve been working through the next holder design, and this one is a little different.

At first glance, it would be easy to just take the cooler can holder shape and scale it up for disposable party cups. I may still do a fun version like that, but for the main design I decided to treat this as its own product.

The reason is that disposable cups have a totally different set of problems than cans and bottles.

Cans are fairly consistent. Most people know what size can they are using, and the cooler can holder shape works really well around that form factor. Disposable cups are different. The top diameter is much larger, the cups are tapered, they vary a lot by brand and size, they usually have no insulation, no handle, rarely have a lid, and most people probably do not know exactly what cup they will be using ahead of time.

So instead of making a holder for one specific cup, I’m trying to make something that fits the majority of common disposable party cups and actually improves the way they are used.

The things I’m looking at are:

better grip and handling

insulation

a more stable base

lid options

cup holder friendliness

compatibility with common party cup sizes

maybe even a backup use case for cans, if I can make that work without compromising the cup design

This is still in development, but I wanted to show a little bit of the thought process because this is one of those designs where the easy answer is not necessarily the best answer.

The cooler can holder form factor is fun, and I’m not done with that ecosystem at all. But for disposable cups, I think this needs to solve a slightly different problem.

More soon and if you have any ideas for this as I wrap it up feel free to post and I will see what gets incorporated.

This would be amazing with a flipper to keep drinks safe for the ladies!

Yes! This is what I was advertising on my original tumbler can holders. Keeping people safe at parties from ill intentions is absolutely a feature and good selling point for these I believe.

What a fantastic idea! I saw another design that had an adapter/insert that would help it fit different size cans. Would that be a helpful option? Idk how easy it is to carry or keep up with but, in theory, I thought it was a good idea to make one unit that could hold multiple size cans/cups.

Will this hold a Starbucks iced drink?

Let’s do it!!!!!!

I'll swing by a Starbucks and grab their different cup sizes and see what works. Even if its not a good fit for this I do plan to have an option that fits them as well as some other popular restaraunt sizes.

The adapter/insert is definitely something I have considered and it sounds like you are thinking the same thing as me.... its a clever solution but does add extra part(s) and its not so much about printing an extra part as it is just not loosing track of it. Not a bad idea at all and something worth considering so I will keep it in mind.

Lots of people asking about tumblers to hold their loaded teas. This will be a hit.

Yesssss, I’ve been looking for something to use for cold pint glasses when out at the bar. I hate a sweaty glass Pop in my glass and I’d be happy

great idea. guess trying to make it compatible to so many size cups will be a challenge.

CraftandCrochet

That is awesome!!! I love that it shaped to fit in your car!!

Just want to say your designs are awesome and your print files are the best I ever used. Thank you.

Is it possible to get this cup without the opening in the side of the cup? I noticed that when you have the straw cap on the liquid spills from the side opening in the cup. Another question Is there other prints that will hold the red party cup?
