I’m exploring ways to make my content more user-focused, streamlined, and potentially more affordable long term. One idea I’m researching is hosting content on a dedicated site built specifically around stories like mine and evolving based on reader feedback, while still keeping Patreon as the hub for announcements and community updates.

If I were to experiment with this in a way that benefits you (for example, discounts, better organization, exclusive features, or improved experience), how would you feel about accessing content through a separate site linked here?

What would the other platform be? I like the Patreon interface and the fact that it’s an app and I get notifications. One creator moved from here to Subscribestar but they don’t have an app, the web interface is kinda gross, and I don’t think he has the same level of engagement there that he did here, based on the number of likes on his stories

No subscribe star is garbage. I have friends that are on it that are looking for something new, and that’s the point of this idea and this post.

Do you and your friends have another specific platform in mind? Is it a moderated platform that could pull your work out from under you, or would you have freedom of expression? How deeply can you organize your work on this other platform? I like the collections in Patreon, but they only go one level deep.

Looking at a few options, with those exact factors in mind. No AI moderation that automatically removes things that are not in violation, and better organization of collections and personal bookmarks for the readers. I’d keep Patreon and hybridize the experience by linking the posts here and there.

One feature that would be helpful in a different platform is the ability for readers to bookmark where they left off with a particular story, either within the story somewhere or at the post level, and be able to share those bookmarks with fellow readers. I think it would also be very handy if a platform had the ability for a reader to share short excerpts of post with people who are not yet on the platform to encouraged them to join. For example, up to 100 words of a story. I guess we can do that now just by copy and paste, but an officially supported method that provided analytics to the creators would be potentially helpful to the creators, and might allow for benefits such as upgrading a tier level for somebody who has convinced a certain number of people to join a creator, as evidenced by those analytics

I hate that you have to dodge Patreon's rules when you write certain content. I'd rather you be able to post whatever you want on your own site.

It would also be helpful to have a red dot next to the names of posts that you have not opened, to help finding new content be simpler

You know Cody I'm glad that you're posting this, because user experience is very important. These are things that make things easier and cleaner. And maybe we can get even hotter stories. That would be awesome, because all these gards standing by looking close just to try to delete a chapter that now you have to rewrite isn't fun for you I'm sure and definitely once something that's watched down as a reader. Not to say that your stories aren't great already, but I'm sure if you were given more freedom they would be out of the park

The last time my favorite left Patreon (or I think they were kicked) I never got back into their content due to the gross new platform and the loss of sooo many stories I'd loved. Not a fan of moving to a new platform, but please don't do subscribe star if you do

Would something like onlyfans be an option? I’m not terribly familiar with the platform other than there’s unfortunately no app.

You could submit your public/free stories to Metabods.com and the rest on a different platform. I’d love for you to able to write without concerning yourself with Patreons rules. I love Metabods, but it is a free site and you’d need to find a different site for a revenue stream.
