I can’t believe you’re here witnessing the most iconic anime transformation of all time! Congrats on making it this far!

Drip Drip Drop

First time watching that transformation in Japanese and man it does not hit the same as the dub. Very few anime should be watched in dub but this is def one of them.

animaechan

it doesn't hit the same to you bc you experienced it the first time in English. People who watched Spanish or Japanese first laugh at some of the English lines. IF there were a language something "should" be watched in (and there isn't) it would be the original which is Japanese.

Pokapoka

Omg omg I've been waiting for this ever since you started your db journey, you said you knew about super saiyan but not when or how it'd happen and omg your reaction to Krillin's death and the transformation back to back really didn't disappoint 😭

animaechan

I'm so glad haha it was painful and exciting even the lighting got excited and made me look like i was gonna go super sayian too

2026-09-09 17:00 Idk if you knew this but the last time the anime and manga mentions a power level was during freeza’s 2nd transformation where he states his power level is above 1 million, after this we never get a mention of numbers ever again however a official data book approved by the author that released long after the series had ended states that Goku’s power level as a super saiyan is 150 million.

such an iconic scene, crazy to think of the cultural impact this had... so fun to see your reaction to if after seeing all of your DB journey lol

czakmistrz

English dub is so overrated and music, Japanese is a way better, for me better version of dub did teamfourstar than original version of english dub

czakmistrz

source? btw. power level are bullshit ;)

Izuku_Midoriya

I don't remember the eng dub to be so cringe lol. Well i guess i remember the lines more recently from the game. My fav goku line is "Curse you frieza!! NOW IM MAD!!!!" from the games.

Izuku_Midoriya

yup starting around now you will be better off looking at how much the transformations multiplies their base power rather than power levels.

czakmistrz

someone told you on strem ssj goku was the most iconic moment of anime and that was true or one of the best moments in history of animation and popculture

superjj3

just to put into a power context what a Super Saiyan transformation does to Goku. It multiplies the base form power by 50 times. So you can imagine why Toriyama stopped using power levels because the numbers would get ridiculous after this point and plus he didnt want people hanging on to arbitrary numbers when they can change so rapidly during a fight like when using the Kamehameha or Piccolo's special beam cannon.

hatchhyjack

absolutely loved the super saiyan transformation reaction, more than i could ask for ❤️

animaechan

saying the best transformation of all time VS one of the best are very different things :) it was not the time or place to discuss that imo after my very first time seeing it. Opening up that discussion and comparing different transformations to actually decide on the best? not worth the time of discussing right now. I enjoyed the episode without tainting the experience with the stupid fighting that topic would stir up.

Loved your reaction. Also as you said, I also got into Dragon Ball with DBZ, so the first time I saw that scene, I only knew adult Goku, and yet it blew my mind for days. For someone like you, who followed Goku from a cute chubby kid to the ultimate chad daddy, the emotions must’ve hit different, even if you saw the transformation coming. I remember as a kid, when that episode first dropped, my neighborhood was a ghost town no kids in sight. Once the episode was over, we all came out of our houses like ants from their anthills and talked about it all afternoon, going “WOW, that was so cool, what was that, blah blah,” making our theories and everything… ah, nostalgia 🥲

Dragon Ball Daizenshuu, #7 I believe. I have a copy from Japan, so I've seen it myself.
