No dailymotion links, it looks like even if I keep the video under 2 hours, the files have somehow been getting too big for DM. Weird.

The shirt looks so cool. Loved the reactions even if the arc towards the end got confusing and all over the place. I agree the ending would have been better with Trunks ending Zamasu but even that was convaluted lol. Still in my opinion 2nd best arc because Frieza arc was something else. Goku and Arale meeting again nice callback. One thing I do love about Super is all these jobs Goku takes for Chi Chi so wholesome. Bodyguard Goku unlocked. It would be awesome slice of life arc of Goku Job Hunting. Excited for next week episodes as always!!

1. Super is not being "remade", they're remastering the Beerus arc and probably the Frieza arc after that, just like DB Kai. It's highly doubtful they will go behind that. 2. The manga is (at least at this point) promotional material for the anime. Toyotaro, the fanfic DB writer who was assigned to write the manga, was writing it around the same time the anime was being produced (but the anime was released earlier), so any "improvements" are accidental

The Black arc has some good stuff in it initially, but after Beerus hakai's Zamasu, it turns into an absolute slog to watch, with the incomprehensible nonsense and Toei's trademark timewasting scenes. The last 2 episodes were pretty fun, the Arale one being the lowest rated is a pretty damning indictment on the dub watching fanbase, and how much different their version of Dragon Ball is.

animaechan

whether it's better "on purpose" or not, the point is that it IS better. Whether you agree or not, that is how myself and many others feel 🤷‍♀️

RecoomeElbow

Eh, the majority of people haven't read the manga or even know it exists, so it's a small sample. But even among them it's a 50/50 from what i've seen

MingoGames

That is wrong. Toriyama gave Toei a script and they adapted it whatever they wanted. Toriyama worked really close to Toyotaro, they designed characters and arcs together. The manga is much more faithful to Toriyama's vision. Saying the manga is anime promotion because they were released at the same time and the anime went faster is bs.

ElninoHiuu

Toriyama-sensei created a general script and left it to Toei to decide how to develop the storyline around it. However, in the manga, illustrator Toyotarou-sensei—a person who is extremely passionate about Dragon Ball—worked with Toriyama-sensei for months to develop the storyline and draw the manga in the best way possible. Many ideas conceived by Toyotarou were even accepted into the manga. Initially, the Dragon Ball Super manga was created simply to promote the anime, but it gradually proved its own merits and even possessed more depth and logic than Toei's original storyline for the anime.

Wow, that's interesting. I wonder if you can back up that claim.

MingoGames

Toyotaro makes a lot of interviews. He frequently talks about his work dynamic with Toriyama. There is even one interview of them together discussing about this arc. They are easy to find. About Toei, it is just an assumption. I mean, even though the execution is quite different, the arcs, characters and some key points in the plot are the same, so it is obvious that Toriyama gave them "something".

'If anyone disrespects this great joy that fills me now... I won't forgive them" is my favorite new motto I think. Without Arale being around, it might not even backfire on me, like it did with Beerus.

"I don't like these facts therefore they must be wrong"

It's you guys that are in denial, "I don't like Super, therefore it has not been written by Toriyama", like he couldn't make mistakes. There are 20 years between DB and DBS, people change, ideas change. It's ok if you don't like Super, but don't make excuses, Super is as much as Toriyama's as DB was in the moment, get over it. This is my last message here, it is getting tiring. This is Toriyama's and Toyotaro's interview about Black's arc in case you want to read it: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/dragon-ball-super-tori-toyo-free-talk-vol-2/ . Kayla can read it too, it is spoiler free, but you need to read the manga arc for some context.
