Animation wise, i think the first 3 episodes of this cour are better than anything cour 2 and cour 3 produced. We expect the animation to only get better at this point, since it looks like there will be no more set-up episodes and straight action till the end.

Kelven_140

I fully disagree with "didn't really reach the same level of peak". This started MUCH more stronger the cour 2 and cour 3. With cour 1 i can agree because it was the start of the arc and the return of Bleach after 10 years. I assume you haven't rewatched the previous cours before starting this final cour right?

I think you need to rewatch the first 3 episodes or cour 2 all the episodes did was set the stage for fights and episode 1 of cour 2 nothing of note happened until the last 30 seconds.........cour 1 i agree has the strongest start and as for cour 3 literally the first episode of cour 3 was 65 percent just footage from the cour 2 Finale I think your memory is playing tricks on you

animaechan

No I haven't rewatched it. With my memory I clearly wouldn't remember. I wrote this post while streaming, so it wasn't well said, but I hope I was more clear in the review. Just remember, feeling hype is a personal experience. So there's not really a right or wrong with what someone things is "more hype" or "stronger" in general :)

With my memory I clearly wouldn't remember how other seasons started😅 sorry, I wrote this post while streaming, so it wasn't well put, but I hope I was more clear in the review. Just remember, feeling hype is a personal experience. And I did clearly point out that I might have remembered wrong (in the video) and my expectations were therefore too high

animaechan

I guess I will have to start practising my oohs and aahs in the mirror if my personal opinions make so many people's hair stand on edge 😅🤣

Ya your definitely right hype is a peronal experience. Nothing you can do if things aren't hitting as hard as you would like. Well hopefully episode 4 and onwards and have some moments that hit like a truck for you there is some crazy crazy stuff coming in the next few episodes.... thanks for the reaction I will look forward to the coming weeks

Kelven_140

No, no. We don't expect "oohs" and "aahs" for every scene ofc. lol Everybody has different reactions to hype moments as you said "feeling hype" is personal experince for people. Keep up the GREAT content and let"s enjoy some Bleach because starting next week everybody is going "blind" what they gonna add/expanding on. I'm super exciting to see your reaction for the rest of the cour!

In terms of production these first 3 are the strongest start of any cour. IMO I have the opposite feeling as you, I feel these are hitting harder than last cour where last cour it felt a bit underwhelming to me maybe cuz I expected more but this season just started and it feels like they really are going above and beyond. Especially now that only the "movie" portion is done we can finally get to the juicy stuff that they aren't showing us in any trailer. Also this episode was done by a solo animator, which is very impressive but also shows how healthy production is for cour 4. We are in for a treat with the rest of the season

animaechan

so you felt underwhelmed before, your expectations were lower and you're loving this more. Whereas I was "overwhelmed" (or swept away) before, so my expectations were higher. I feel like that should tell you a lot 😅 More importantly, these 3 episodes were designed to air together. I don't think any other 3 episodes in another part were designed that way. That means, it's pretty much guaranteed that their flow would be different from others (that can translate good or bad depending on the person - in other words, it worked fine for you, but it just didn't feel the way I was used to). Someone on YouTube proposed a concept that MIGHT explain why it felt different to me. Apparently it is called "Kishōtenketsu". He said it's something that Kubo (and even Oda) often uses. I read on anilist the last episode adapted "the rest of ch 664-665. two thirds of 666. Sum more of 672, almost all of 673 and more of 674". Now, Kubo is quite involved with the anime (to add things to the story), but who knows how much he has to do with the flow. Whether it's the director or Kubo himself though, I'm just trying to explain there might be various reasons for "the flow" to be different for these 3 episodes than what might follow. Just like a specific visual style, many might love it, but that doesn't mean it will click with every viewer :))
