Just some honest feedback. The earlier 4.9 BWCs like the Nikke, Ingrid, Fediel, and Nidalee are the best ones out of this version so far. There’s just something off about the shading, especially with the males lately. The earlier 4.9 looks more realistic, more defined muscles. Whereas these recent ones have been softer shading, more cartoony. I can’t explain it that well, but the difference is there. I’m a big fan and do thank you for the time you put in for this! I hope you will see what I’m talking about. Thanks!! :)

What you're seeing is accurate! V4.9 has been underoing micro-adjustments since it's launch. It's an entirely new architecture from the previous SDXL-based upscaling system, so a lot of it, especially at the start was growing pains. The skin shading is the first place where you're seeing the careful balancing act between pre and post-processed lighting, and the native latent (ControlNet restrained) guidance during img2img. The entire battle is "preserving the richness of the original image while refining and upscaling in a controlled manner" V4.9 serves a bit as a stepping stone for the much grander V5 update slated in a couple of weeks.
