Once again, we've reached the end of the arc. That means there will be no new chapters until February 3rd for those of you here on patreon.

For those who want to save money and cancel, I'd recommend doing so now. I'd, of course, appreciate those who are willing to stay, but I prefer to be fair, upfront and honest about these things.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of lore or notes left to dump at this time. So it'll be mostly quiet. I drop the teaser for the next arc around December 25th, I think. Before then, I'll try to put together the updated character list cover all the characters and the information revealed in the Trade arc.

Reflections on the Story

With this arc complete, I can really feel patreon and RR starting to catch up with what I've written. I'm a slow writer compared to most authors on RR, so I knew this would inevitably happen. Still, I have two arcs completely written for you here, plus I've slightly expanded the beak periods. Thus, I'm 90% confident I can continue to deliver for the rest of next year.

Now, on the subject of the most recent arc, I can say confidentially say that Trade was not as popular as Gamers. Which, I'm pretty sure, had to do with the subject matter. Of course, the big hankering for more slice-of-life no doubt played a role as well. For those hoping for something more like Gamers, you're in luck. Because the next arc is 100% Cloud Island Wilderness. I won't say more than that.

Still, it's been amazing to have you all with me.

If any of you would like to chat through the down period, discord remains available.

I really enjoyed Trade, it was nice to get some action, and see how the characters under the system are interacting with the broader world, it was a nice reminder that the overarching plot isn't merely isolated to cloud island wilderness. Watching Sylvia at play here really highlighted how much she has grown, and how much farther she and the other players still have to grow before they can be on an even field with the other big movers, and the scenes where they made the preparations for the system to infiltrate the broader world, and how everyone outside the system had their own problems going really helped make the side characters feel more active, as opposed to just passively waiting for the main character to push the story. Thank you so much for the wonderful story and I look forward to reading more!

This arc did a good job setting the stage when it comes to the level of power scaling the netherworld has in comparison to the gamers. Back in the Timeless Beryl Wilderness the strongest people weren't very high on the power scale overall and with Sylvia's rate of advancement it seemed within reach. The first trip to Tartarus didn't really display the strength of the people Sylvia met comparatively and in the Cloud Island Wilderness the advantages of Sapience allowed Sylvia and Emily to close the gap against a powerful non sapient creature while the strongest on the plane were passive allies. This arc allowed Sylvia and the readers to see just how much of a medium fish in a little pond she currently is. She now knows she can't easily leave on another such adventure as herself for a long while until she significantly closes the gap. She's seen why exactly her mentor and lover was unable to deny a marriage prospect she abhorred yet cleverly managed to delay and even caught the same attention. Hopefully the dungeon project is successful enough that Sylvia can create an ideal training ground for her own needs

Gamers was interesting, seeing things gaining steam. But it always felt a but too safe. I found Trade with all the intrigue and dangers of Demon Society to be a lot more tense and entertaining.

Was it really not as popular? I liked it. The premise was good, and Tartarus is an interesting place, with lots of things to discover. But as I said earlier, Trade was a bit too tense, while Gamers was too safe. I hope the next arc strikes a balance between the two.

I liked Trade way more, but I do work in finance. I also felt it went way darker than Gamers in a good way, and the stakes were higher. The new characters seemed way meatier and powerful in this arc as well. Also trade's emphasis was less cliche, and we got to see the scale of power. Gamers felt too restrained and indulgent slice of life-like. I am also big into transformation, which we got to see more in this arc.

Question: how many total arcs are planed??? At the curent speed of levelling we’re about 1/3 of the way thrue if she’s to JUST reach apotheosis at the end

Xylix

Approximately 12 arcs. Trade was arc 6.

I really liked trade tbh. Especially the infiltration. It felt suitably dark, but not too dark.
