Erudite was a clear winner in the first poll. This time, we're going to have three new tendencies to choose from. The ones that aren't picked will be shuffled into the next poll with the two from last time. Erudite won't be making an appearance in Night VI, it's already filled with a bazillion different choices, but it will probably be my favorite to retroactively write when I do the Week One update. Readers have been likening an erudite MC to Hermione Granger and I think that's accurate.

New Tendency Options:

Humble // A humble MC is one who doesn't forget her roots. She won't let fancy baths or lavish dwellings go to her head, and she's likely to feel uncomfortable wearing expensive clothes and adornments. No task is beneath her and no gesture goes unappreciated. (Serax ++, Valdricht -)

Lustful // A lustful MC will find chastity to be a constant struggle. Once she finally indulges in the carnal act, she'll only want more. Not necessarily irreverent, she can still be Pious and Proper during the moonday hours, but once night falls she'll be desperate to slake her pent-up desire. (Serax +++, Valdricht ++)

Perceptive // Few things slip past the notice of a perceptive MC. She picks up on body language, hears what's not being said, and spots trouble brewing before it boils over. Quick to read a room and quicker to read a man, she rarely needs to be told twice—though she'll pretend she didn't notice, if it serves her. (Serax +/-, Valdricht +/-)

My thoughts:

I know this one will be tough. They all have a lot of potential. I specifically chose more Serax-focused traits that way we have a more balanced pool.

A humble MC could be good for readers who want to want a character who isn't keen on letting her new position as a darksinger elevate her above others. I think the humble interactions will really shine with Serax, who won't enjoy a haughty or holier-than-thou partner. It'll be particularly interesting to see a humble Zealot MC.

Lustful will be a lot of fun. If chosen, I intend to go all the way to the prologue to tailor it in. It's irked me that only the Heretic has had steamy fantasies. Again, I think of the Zealot and how intriguing it would be to have her secretly wrestling with lust.

Perceptive is a trait more for players than for the guys. Neither of them will be too happy if you're reading their moods and guessing their real motives, however it could give your MC a big advantage in interactions. I think the Heretic MC will be best paired with this trait, as she tends to be more watchful and content to absorb information.

Weekly Progress:

That's all for today! I'm still working on Night VI. I think once you play it, and replay it, and replay it, you'll understand why. As of right now I'm finished with the main story branches of the first half of the Zealot storyline and the Heretic storyline. Each branch is around the same length as Night III, so I feel pretty comfortable releasing it as a 1/2 Night update. Currently I'm going through and adding additional choices, and then I'll begin editing. I'm also almost finished with the next alternate POV scene, so I might release that before the update to tide you over while I'm editing and playtesting.

I think the first half of the night will be a good place for everyone to stop and reevaluate their tendencies and game modes before moving forward. Up ahead will be some pretty difficult stat checks with major impacts on your story. I'll talk about those more when I release the update.

I absolutely love every option you’ve given for both polls, it’s so hard to pick

Fiona

Women with cripplingly low self esteem and romantic partners who try to make them not hate themselves are my spirit animal (I'm voting humble)

Melody

These are all so good! 😢 I still think that possessive makes the most sense for the MC based on her experiences... since she died without knowing any love or family. It makes sense to be desperate for it and cling to warmth. It might be an unpopular opinion, but she almost feels too stable right now, if that makes sense? The last thing she remember was an unfulfilled life going up in flames. I've played through both routes several times, but up until the end of the current Heretic NSFW path when Val, ya know, she didn't display many outright negative traits (wary, distrustful, antagonistic, anger in getting toyed with, fear of both attachment and abandonment). In both paths, Val and Serax are talking about whether or not to kill her in a language she doesn't understand. Her life isn't her's to control. I feel like perceptive is the perfect solution to this. Tbh she has just as much reason to not trust Val and Serax as the Weaver. I can see her becoming more manipulative based on this info as a way to protect herself until she gets power. But lustful's so fun 😭

sunday

Hmmm… I would’ve figured that mc becomes more lustful over time anyway but in a zealot or heretic flavor depending on your choices so I’m leaning more towards perceptive to give our girl an edge, but it depends! And humble kind of seems like it could be the opposite of ladylike like proper vs irreverent. I think it’d be useful to see a tiny example of what it would look like for each? It’s kind of hard to decide from the descriptions, although they’re pretty appealing. But that might be too much work <3

Mortish

Ah, a woman of culture 💖

origamihoshi

this hard becasue humble would fit my Zealot really well, but lustful is very much my Heretic coming into herself and allowing herself to finally accept this part of herself. I did voted lustful but also I want to say that perceptive sounds like a lot of fun

Mortish

I agree! I definitely have moments where I feel like she’s too go-with-the-flow. I wanted to make her a lot less stable/more resistant but I worried it would upset readers, especially when it came to the sexual aspects and childbearing parts. There were readers who were upset with the MC not being 100% on board with the Night IV NSFW, which by my personal tastes was pretty tame. A lot of times writing feels like a dance between what I want to do and what will make a plurality of readers uncomfortable. I almost wish I’d added some sort of plot gimmick where new darksingers are hypersexual so I can explore nuanced, slow-burn character development while letting the sex stuff take care of itself. Actually, that’s not a terrible idea…

Mortish

She totally will be more lustful over time, but it can be a fun trait to amp up that natural carnality. I was thinking of adding examples, but my brain is broken after writing today. I have this quirk where I hit a mental wall round 4pm and I cease to be creative. I’ll totally add examples to the next one :)

Mortish

I think the Zealot could really use a humility trait to better conform to how a lot of people are playing her! I love how split this poll is. I’ll definitely have to do the Runner Up poll asap.

Melody

That's a great idea! It could be something like heat, hunger, or even a feverish side effect of bloodlust. And IMO Night IV NSFW was pretty tame... and you literally had to select going that route, that night could've easily ended without doing anything. Living with the consequences of your decisions is the beauty of IF. I think you should write the story you want to write! If it upset people, there could be a sidenote with trigger warnings for any paths that might be "offensive." Game of Thrones is one of the most mainstream "mature, dark" series, so I always assume anything there goes.

ayesleigh

I'm definitely having a harder time choosing for this poll as opposed to the first one. I don't want MC to be haughty, but I don't want her to be unable to enjoy the nice things the guys can give her because I want her to end up happy and taken care of and at least feel like she's not undeserving of nice things so bad! 😭 And despite her intelligence, she's been so inexperienced and oblivious throughout the story thus far that it seems strange to think of her anticipating people's thoughts, motives, or actions before they're outright revealed to her, lol. As I've said before, I do like having knowledge that the MC doesn't and having to roleplay them as unknowing until the pin finally drops. But it does seem like something the Heretic would be better at given that she was more people-focused over the more faith-focused Zealot. The Lustful tendency surprises me because I've already thought of my Zealot MC Lydie as struggling with lust during the first week -- as much as a repressed woman who's absorbed so much sex-negative rhetoric from a religious institution can, anyway. The incident where she tries to rationalize her way into being potentially 'ravished' by Serax sticks out: it feels very real for someone who feels guilty and sinful about having desires to dream about having the choice taken out of their hands in order to relieve themselves of that guilt. And she's found it difficult to not stare at him when he's flouncing around the tent in various states of scandalous undress. Despite how drawn she is to Valdricht, she's come across as kind of uncapable/unwilling to stare at him or consider herself worthy of thinking about him in that way? Like he's too elegant, noble, ancient, and divine for that to be her place? But when she's not obsessing over her nature or faith, I think she's lowkey ardently longing for any glancing touch or sign of affection that she can get from him, even if she won't fully admit that to herself. If Lydie saw the Heretic storyline, she'd be secretly intensely jealous of Heretic getting to cuddle and fall asleep in Valdricht's arms post-nightmare; she'd wish she had the courage to find herself in that situation, but she knows that she's too cautious and cynical to do anything that could be misconstrued as a lead-in to ~*sinful relations*~. (I do find it funny that, in a dark erotic romance, me and the MC are currently thirsting more for a sign of genuine care and affection from the LI over his lust.) I'm thinking that I might refrain to vote until after the release of Night VI or at least just ponder it for a while. I've been looking forward to seeing if/how that kiss from Valdricht will change things. He's treated her like a polite but distant traveling companion who doesn't want to get to know her because he knows she won't be around long, so he'd have to lay himself bare a little bit to get her to believe that he's not just making her a transactional offer, I think. Struggling with ~*thoughts*~ of him and finally getting that much-awaited sign of affection might complicate her intention to be more of pragmatic negotiator in that situation, though... 💖 Anyway, sorry for the unrequested wall of text! Someone on Tumblr got me thinking about this stuff and I guess this was a convenient outlet for those musings. I think I'm hoping that someone will reply in a way that helps me figure out which option I want to vote for, lol.

Mortish

This is very helpful. I'm usually good about not compromising the vision of the story when readers express a dislike for a particular aspect. For example, a lot of readers have asked for a bossier, more assertive, action-oriented MC and I have zero problem saying nope, not my story nor my cup of tea. But I've definitely allowed the story to become tamer than I would have liked. I suppose I didn't anticipate it would become somewhat popular. I thought it would be a lot more niche and with a bigger audience there's pressure not to spook people who are unfamiliar with the genre but giving it a try anyway. I've put a warning at the front of the IF that it's a dark romance with what some might consider dubious consent, but I think a lot of readers have just flipped past that without considering if they are actually comfortable with that. I'm hesitant to even write that I, too, thought Night IV NSFW was super tame, and having readers tell me they were bothered by it made me wonder if I'm out of touch with what is acceptable in dark fantasy erotic romance. I would have been comfortable going a lot darker than that, though I did still like how the scene played out. I think more likely it's largely an IF audience that is accustomed to really vanilla NSFW where everyone has an established relationship with trust and mutual consent, which is super healthy, but not very thrilling for dark romance escapism. Well, I'm rambling. This may be something I discuss with readers this month as I prepare to do the Week One update. I will almost certainly be cranking up the sexual tension in the update and I might even add some uncomfy NSFW scenes. I think adding a mechanic or plot contrivance where the MC will desperately want sex from the word go would be really interesting. Maybe I could even make that its own story route for readers who like it dark. There I go, coming up with more ideas.

QueenOfBnuuy

I wish I could have all of them, but that's definitely a little selfish of me lol

Mortish

I think the MC wanting care/attention/affection more than sex is pretty dark in its own way. Like here is this poor young woman who's been sheltered and repressed her whole life and all she seeks affection however she can get it, confusing sexual connection with emotional connection.

Mortish

Walls of text are always appreciated. I clicked enter prematurely so I'll send a second one. I love hearing your thought process and your impression of the MC, posts like these are crazy helpful. I like your feedback for the lustful trait. As I mentioned in another response, that would essentially amp up your MC's carnal desire to the extent that she would have difficulty resisting her impulses. I actually think it could lead to some crazy scenes early on in the story and will almost certainly create an NSFW branch on the Zealot Night IV, whether she's emotionally prepared for it or not.

Mortish

And now I'm thinking of a selfish tendency. I wonder how it could be done in an endearing way, like the MC hogging all of the quality time with her favorite RO. Actually, that's probably just the possessive tendency.

Melody

I've noticed that readers can generally be grouped together based on whether they prefer the zealot or heretic path. In a way, I think you already addressed the more vanilla NSFW readers by including the zealot path. It'll probably change soon, but so far, it offers a much slower and more chaste experience. Especially if you could tip toe around it with the coy tendency later. Meanwhile, as a fellow heretic NSFW path enjoyer, I would love the story to get darker or more explicit. I don't know about anyone else, but I lock up my moral compass and throw away the key whenever I'm reading fantasy... 🙈 like... it's a completely different world, who am I to judge and who's gonna judge me? I enjoy both routes, but since my first and favorite playthrough was heretic NSFW, it feels more canonical to me. Other playthroughs were more for worldbuilding and gathering perspective. I understand trying to appeal to a larger audience, but keeping both paths in narrower constraints might make them too similar. It's still early in the storyline, but reading zealot after finding all the heretic endings almost felt like reading the censored version. Of course, every story begins like this; there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I've only discovered IFs last year, so I'm fairly new to the genre. Umm... I'm not good enough with words to phrase this more kindly, but I feel that some of them try to appeal to everybody that I end up disconnecting part way. It's like I can see the author's thought process in... trying to offend no one, including people who get offended on behalf of an imaginary group of x, y, z. That's why I'm so desperate to find IFs with female protagonists with male RO that can tailor towards this niche. Having healthy relationships are great and all irl, but imperfect, morally questionable stories have depth. You can always make a beta version and test the waters with patreon members or a group of volunteers. 😉There's no need to pile too much on your plate at once, stuff can always be added/edited later. Edit: sorry, pressed enter while trying to make a new paragraph 😭

Lindsay Taylor

I see my heretic MC as quite lustful, having really enjoyed reading that forbidden story at the beginning, wanting to experience those things so much. I also want to choose perceptive, though. Tough choice! Went with lustful in the end, though :)

Ro

For fun (😊) and as the Zealot's lawyer (😎), I'd argue Zealot isn't actually a vanilla route, insomuch she faces a more implicit, slow-burn horror that creeps up and will cumulate in her first NSFW scene. Unlike Heretic, Zealot has no interest in copulating and being anything but a vestal, so she she's backed into a corner where she either loses her new life (which she already struggles with accepting and carries guilt over) or copulates—all while her lifeline (religion) has been destroyed. It's two personal evils she has to choose from and, as mentioned by someone else, her demanding marriage is more a power-play than just being chaste: It's a desperate act to reclaim some sort of agency where she has none. Heretic tends to face more explicit, physical horror thus far, while Zealot's is more implicit and psychological (which can be further complicated if a lustful tendency is added). I think it's easy to forget she witnessed an attempted rape, too, and thought for sure she'd experience it if not for her burns (unlike Heretic, who could only hear the carnage around her); it definitely reinforced her views on sex and lust. I do agree Mortish should be able to stand her ground where it is important, though, and to note the IF community in general tends to be entrenched in purity-culture, ergo if something is unhealthy or slightly gray, it should not be written without overt condemnation. A lot of people in the community freak out over taboo topics, especially romances; I remember the fallout people had over an author including a step-sibling romance you could toggle off. Something similar happened with the Samurai of Hyuga, which has non-con and an infamous yandere love interest. Honestly, it's better to weed these people out than cater to them, because at the end of the day, they can always withdraw their consent to read the material 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 clicked on, especially when the material has already been labelled as, "Dead dove, do not eat."

Ro

*Drives in a whole ten hours late* Okay, definitely rooting for humble because I think it would pair perfectly with my Zealot, who can be haughty, but is a real sweetheart deep, deeeeeeep down (and was vestal-trained to not accept luxuries, lol). It works for Heretic, too, if you want to play up her insecurities and make her more demure.

Ro

Hi, Sunday! Thanks for the lovely reply, always good to hear from you ☺️. I think this is going to be a disagreement with what "vanilla" is, because my point is that something being more implicit, and slower, does not mean it's less dark—Zealot's NSFW night will still hav dubcon, even though it comes later and can be within the confines of marriage (as can Heretic's, if you're playing Bound Mode). And even with marriage, Zealot is sleeping with a stranger she's just met five days ago. While I agree her wariness makes her more prone to exploring the romantic side of her situationship, before committing to sex, the reality is she's still not ready for it and is being forced into it (and in some ways, unlike Heretic, never wanted it in the first place). While not as immediate as Heretic's NSFW route, the darker content in Zealot's route is still there, which negates it from being "vanilla." We also haven't been exposed to her NSFW night yet, so it's unfair to judge how dark it will be without reading it; immediate sex does not make the story darker, just more sexual. And even if Zealot's route does end up being lighter than the NSFW Heretic's route, it's no more vanilla for it.

ayesleigh

Sounds like a delicious prospect as long as she's able to resist those impulses, difficult as they may be. I've spoken a lot about the turmoil, angst, and uncertainty going on up until Meyrrvik, but those definitely aren't complaints; I'm enjoying those elements. I'm enjoying the differences between the Zealot and Heretic routes. I like Zealot being prim and pent up and secretly(?) struggling. I like putting off the sex for as long as MC can get away with it. I like playing an MC who is stifled and confined by restrictions outside of her control, but has enough inner steel and grit to fight as much as she can manage for small victories (even if it ends in failure, the attempt to try is gratifying). Lydie feels like she's locked in battles of will against Nythara, her own desires, and maybe even Valdricht and Serax to an extent (even though she feels like they don't want her) -- the sooner she gives in to them, the more she will feel like she's lost. That and her probable wish for marriage are (like I've said before) grasping attempts to snatch a little agency and not feel like a helpless pawn being shoved around on the board. Kinda funny that a Zealot who was more than willing to be used in whatever way Elodine wanted is now balking at that treatment from literally anyone else (once burned, twice shy) but I think the boys will be happy with her willingness once she realizes that sex doesn't have to be painful, miserable, and degrading for her (to say nothing of the devotion they'll receive if she ever feels loved by them).

Ro

Ah, I get it! You basically mean Zealot is a bit more accessible and milder in comparison to Heretic (at least from what we've seen). That makes sense! I'm also someone who usually falls into Group 1, but I fear the Zealot has me in her grip 😂. She has such a strong voice I can't ignore and, while I usually prefer stories like Heretic's (sweetie-pie heroine, who is trying her best in an awful situation), Zealot's reaction is 100% how I would act irl, and it's just so rare to find these kinds of stories for religious/ex-religious characters, where they're not forced to be the total opposite of what they once were. Like, wdym you want me to procreate without marriage, at least do things properly if I'm going to be forced into this 😂. And you're saying I'm full of bs? Where is your proof? Even if my life is shattered, my pride isn't! Also, just trying to regain control over the situation in some way is something I 100% relate to and admire from Zealot, despite how many people laugh at her for it. Thanks for answering and explaining, it's great to hear from you 🩷.

rubyribbon

I'm chiming in to say please write the story you want to write. I'm into your work because of the themes you tackled. If I wanted something tame, I would read literally any other IF. You have something unique here, and I hope you are able to create the vision you started out with.

Melody

Hi Ro and Sunday, thanks for replying to my comment! I enjoyed reading your discussion but wanted to wait until I got back to my pc to reply since it was too much of a struggle formatting Patreon replies on mobile. 😭From what I've seen on tumblr, it seems that there's a lot of readers who can relate to zealot due to growing up in a religious background/area, and feel a connection to the MC in one way or another. I'm the very opposite, where I grew up in a culture with almost no emphasis on religion and instead have a deep, deep distaste for it in general. This doesn't decrease my enjoyment of reading fiction that deeply involve these topics, since ironically, there's often more nuance. That is to say, my POV of the story seems to be a little bit different than a lot of folks. When I read the story, I felt like both zealot and heretic MC were fundamentally the same person shaped by different events that happened to her; two timelines, if you will. Even though heretic didn't necessarily believe in scripture, she was still bound by it. She still considers herself a Vestal of Dawn. Her ideas of virtue, modesty, and relationships are largely the same. It's all she's known. If anything, a weaver-aligned heretic can be her first time, in both lifetimes, believing in something. She's marred by so many scars and guilt, I saw her as a future progression of zealot where she didn't have the binds of faith to hold her together. She's already broken. MC was a bird in a cage, and while heretic was blinded for looking beyond the bars, zealot was blinded by faith. In that way, being a little "cavalier" with her virtue was more tragic for me. It's not that she's necessarily more lustful than zealot... they're both equally attracted to the boys, she just seeks warmth outside of Elodine's light. Having broken the rules once might've partially helped get over the mental block that zealot is struggling with, but being worn down by... essentially being a walking corpse before being given life again, fit more of the "dark" fantasy aspect for me. That was what I meant by zealot being more of a censored version of heretic. Zealot's almost allowed to continue picking up where she left off before dying since she didn't go through 6 months of torture and was a willing participant in evangelizing. It wasn't necessarily about the NSFW, since tbh, it's just getting started. Lowkey, when I read what Val did to her, it felt like such a monumental piece of character development that no other route has (even other heretic ones). In every path, MC almost dies, but only in this version, she realizes the true depths of her helplessness and sadly... how little her life means to Val and Serax... at least for now. The best word to describe this is probably angst. Instead of Val coaxing her soul back to life, he was the one ready to snap it out... right after he using her body too. 😢Pretty dark. Throughout that whole scene, I was really hoping her first song would be "repent" or "burn," so she could express some of her anguish. In the way that zealot MC might be secretly jealous of heretic's willingness to engage in carnal desires, I felt that heretic is jealous that she doesn't have to be desperate and can enjoy the "slow burn." More than anything, I'm looking forward to her journey of learning love and pieced back together. When I spoke of "vanilla," I was specifically replying to mortish about readers that struggle with any level of dubious consent. I wholeheartedly agree with the ayesleigh's comment about MC being desperate for affection rather than sex. Ngl I came here for the spice but stayed for the plot. 🙈 I'm sure both paths will have their moments later on. It would just make more sense for heretic to... go to extremes that might be unsettling for general readers? I'm just yapping, I have no clue what's in store for us.

ayesleigh

Hi Ro, thank you for your comment the other day; it was late when I saw it and I was going to respond to it today. I really appreciated it, especially since I enjoyed reading your thoughts in your back and forth with sunday and Melody! It was such a lovely and civil discussion. And I liked your assertion that there aren't a lot of stories like this out there for religious/ex-religious characters because that's absolutely true. Your interpretation of Zealot's feelings was great, it really gels with Unaligned Zealot wrestling with doubt the entire week before admitting that she was lying to herself about her continued belief in Night V. I'll be rooting for both of our Zealots and I'm glad there's someone else out there who adores the character like I do! 💖

Ro

Hi, Ayesleigh! You're so sweet and I'm glad, sorry for deleting the comment; I have a bad habit of wondering if I'm rambling too much and poking my nose where it doesn't belong, so I didn't want to bother or pressure you with it! And yes, I think part of the fun with dissecting what we're reading is having a little friendly debate, because it opens so many doors to how we can consider the story 😊. I'm religious myself, and though I was thankfully never in Zealot's position (my religion always pushed to question everything, including it, haha), I see so much of myself in her and other religious characters, because—despite what a lot of media asserts—religion and religious followers aren't mindless and are more complex than given credit for. I'd argue religion can also take up new forms you wouldn't think is a "religion," but is enforced the same way (like state laws and how people equate legality with morality). Religions are both relics of the past and ancient wisdom universal enough to apply now; I think it's neat, and am always excited to see a character explore that without completely denouncing it! And yes, unaligned Zealot is SO interesting, since it really delves into the question of what to do when you devote yourself to something that turned out to be a lie, but still has ideas that kept you alive and give you pause on what to do. Here is both to our Zealots and us, who will stan her, even against her boys 😂🩷.

Ro

No, thank you for yapping, trust me, I'm the queen of it! And I totally get what you mean about waiting until you have your PC to type, I HATE typing on my phone (so ineffective). Your PoV is so interesting because, as I mentioned to Ayesleigh, I am actually religious, but a minority one where I live, so on one hand, I understand how religion has been used as a bludgeon of abuse in certain contexts, but also understand how it's integral to other people and a source of strength in others (and, as I told Ayesleigh, religion can come in different forms not even thought to be religion—how exactly is religion that different from state laws, where legality is often cited as proper morality?). It's interesting you see Heretic and Zealot the same person, just different timelines, because I'm the total opposite where I see them as two different characters. I'm actually on the same page as you where I have an aligned-Heretic, who craves to feel light for the first time, but how I play her is completely the opposite of how I play Zealot—which makes total sense, since this is an IF. There is no canon way to play this story and, though there is consistent baseline for each character, the devil is in the details, which can create a different total output of that character. An example for me is that while my Heretic is outwardly nice, my Zealot more prickly, Zealot is actually kinder than my Heretic, who can be quite mean internally. It's an interesting contrast for both them and to each other, making my playthroughs and even their reactions to the LIs very different! As for the non-NSFW vanilla aspect, I will say that may change more if Mortish decides to add things back she decided to cut out. She's mentioned before she's tamped down on both their ugliness to make them more palpable and I maintain Zealot's dark moments are slower to come, because she's less "go with the flow" and more, "Why am I here, return me to my covenant immediately." It's evident the boys respect her more for it too (jerks), so they're less ugly to her for it, which will probably change come Night VI. As you said, we can only wait and see! I just know I need the cut sithrak ending, because while disgusting... listen, got to get my monster f-ing fix somewhere. Sithrak secret route, when? (I am kidding... sort of 😂. And see, a fellow yapper!).

ayesleigh

No worries, I've done the exact same thing myself numerous times! It's so easy to second guess yourself when you're communicating by text and you can't see or hear how the other person is reacting. I wasn't sure about sending that follow-up message but your perspective is interesting and I was so glad to see that you'd taken the time to comment, so I didn't want you to think I purposefully ignored it! Though Patreon's notification system is kind of trash and only notifies me for like maybe 1/3 of the stuff I get, so there's no telling how many things I've accidentally ignored, lol.

Ro

No worries, I 100% get what you mean. Patreon's notification system is... well, let's say I've missed replies I had to manually check on because Patreon was like, "None for you, b!tch." Still, so sweet, and I'm always open to comments or even dms if you ever want to fangirl or say hi 🫶🏻.

Melody

Thanks for indulging me 🤣honestly, I almost never comment no matter how much I enjoy something. I'm used to just lurking and reading, quietly following along, so being able to talk about my thoughts has been really fun. I agree that there are a lot of facets and relationships people have to religion; there are people who have undeniably bettered their lives by taking up faith. It's specifically the people that use it as a weapon and refuse to see any other viewpoint that leave a bad taste in my mouth. I can already tell you're not that type of person. Currently, I'm living in the US and legality is being turned upside-down, so I'm happy to leave my moral compass locked up for a while... especially if it means living in fantasyland with hot vampires. 🙈 Ohhh. I'm starting to understand the disconnect. I have like, 5 main save files with each of the endings right now and each playthrough has pretty different stats. During my first run, I chose all the options that my heart gravitated to, and I never consciously roleplayed for any of the playthroughs... (I use the same name & appearance every time... maybe that's why I saw them as different versions of the same person). I just tried to make them different to see as much of the content as possible. 🤐I knew it in the back of my head, but it didn't cross my mind that people have OCs that they roleplay as. Now I'm realizing I'm definitely the outlier with how I approach games and now, IFs. I never really made an OC before... and I'm not familiar with tumblr, twitter, and any fan culture in general (I only made a tumblr account to read ask replies 🙊well, and to recommend a doujin that reminded me of Val and Serax, but it took a lot of internal debate to even do that). You inspire me, I'll try making a different character when I replay the game in the Nightborn edition since my old saves won't transfer.🥰Right now, I'm in the process of learning to use drawing apps on my phone, so I can draw my character. A true first for me... It's been a decade since I really drew anything, but I love this story! I'm all for whatever our benevolent queen Mortish decides 🙇‍♀️I eagerly await each crumb. Any details, the more the better, let it loose cause I'm obsessed. The sithrak secret route killed me. But that's exactly the type of secret thing I look for when I'm replaying and trying to find every possible path. It also reminds me of another of my top 3 IFs, but it might be a little too extreme for most people, so I won't mention it here. 👀 I hope there's a discord server in the future so we can yap more.
