At some point after the original comic, it seems Trevor's two brain cells developed the capacity for self-awareness.

I don't know if it really needs to be explained, but "Strive for Five" is a mnemonic I heard championed at the various supermarkets I worked at. It was supposed to remind us to try to fit at least five items in every bag. Generally good advice unless the customer bought a bunch of gallon milk jugs.
