“Great Shaman,” I said as I looked at the lines and the name of my new class.
I am happy, more than happy.
I had been designated as Great Shaman, but the designation was secret until yesterday. It was based on my craft, but now I got the levels as well.
This will increase my salary further, and I need that, given the academy my eldest wishes to attend.
It's not cheap.
My class had advanced to Spirit Shaman of War and Blood; it feels imposing, but the name suits it, given the power I could feel from it.
It is now a lot stronger than my old class.
With my class, three of my skills have also advanced, and I also got a new one. Seeing it, I couldn’t help but start laughing joyfully, as it is a skill I prayed for.
Every shaman does.
It is the skill most shamans of all types desire. Even the witches desired a similar skill present in their class.
This skill will help me alleviate my biggest weakness. This skill will let me store my power. Means I won’t need a ritual to access the power.
It will not be huge, but it will be enough until the ritual starts harnessing blood.
It might not seem like it, but I am quickly understanding my lacking in offensive power before the ritual harnesses the blood.
I only have one offensive skill and one strengthening one, which work more on strengthening the spirit, but they also provide physical enhancement.
I do not have a movement skill, an ocular skill, or a second offensive skill.
I also do not have as many skills as others. Even at Lv. 40, I have fewer than ten skills. That is why I have Yard and the other two as my bodyguards.
So, Spirit Reserve is going to be very useful. It will give me access to power before the ritual.
It wouldn’t be huge, but it would be lifesaving.
I looked at my upgraded skills. Spirit Strength became Spirit Enhancement; it is focused on spirit as before, but also gives enhancement to the body.
Warden Swing became Hammering Swing. I could feel it was a powerful skill, and it needs to be, since it is my only offensive skill.
The last is Steady Advance, which has become Unwavering Advance, making my army skill more powerful.
I looked at two attribute points and put them in intelligence, taking it to twenty.
Immediately, I felt the powerful rush. I felt like my mind was galloping like a beast; I could think about everything. It took a while before everything calmed down.
My charm was already above twenty, and now with my intelligence reaching twenty, my mental capabilities would be even greater.
I needed that because shamanic magic is highly taxing. After the battle ended, I could barely stand. It was a test of will to stay awake until midnight.
There were too many things to do.
Since I was the highest-ranking officer, I had to be present to lead things.
I looked at the clock, and my eyes widened in alarm. It was past nine; I immediately got up, nearly crashing into the wall, before stopping myself.
I might not have put any points into physical attributes, but I had leveled up, and my class became powerful.
I increased the weight of my attributes by a lot. The weight is even more prominent on the mental attributes.
I took a deep breath before I moved again. I walked around my room for a minute, getting a feel for my strength, before finally stepping into the bathroom.
“You should have woken me up,” I said to Sarad as I stepped into the living room.
“I was ordered to let you sleep,” he replied simply. I glared at the man, but he only smiled.
“Congratulations, General,” he said, and I smiled, despite feeling a little irritated at him. “Thank you,” I replied before I walked out of the room.
“Any messages?” I asked.
“A lot, but nothing that warrants your attention immediately.” I felt relieved hearing that.
“You will have a call with General Stone at twelve, with Lord Silver at one. Deputy Chief Sable’s call had moved to ten and a half from eleven.”
“Speaking of which, her people arrived at dawn with a group from Greltheaven.”
The undead army may have escaped, but a lot of their people are in the city.
Some of their officers and most of their officials have remained and have been secured in jail. I have done everything that is required, and now intelligence will handle those things.
“How is the condition of our people?” I asked as I walked out of the mansion and stepped into the carriage waiting for me.
The casualties were not great, but still people died, and many were injured.
“Two died during the night, but the rest will survive,” he replied. I sighed upon hearing that. We tried, but we could not save everyone despite all the healers and potions.
I looked out of the window at the state of the city.
It is one of the areas that was kept in proper condition; the rest are just as bad as Panar had been.
It’s a really beautiful city; most buildings are made of white stone that is mined here. This gives it a distinct feel from the rest of the cities of the dominion.
I wish I had been in the mood to enjoy it, but there is too much pain in this city.
There are around nine thousand living people in the city, less than a fourth of the original population, and their condition is bad. Not as bad as those in Panar were, but bad.
The only reason for the better condition was that we have been negotiating their release from the undead, like the people in Ashton Harbor.
So, the undead had given them just enough food to remain alive, but not enough to provide all nutrition. Once the intelligence is finished with them, they will be transferred to other places to recover.
Soon, the carriage stopped in front of city hall, and I stepped out of my carriage.
Even in my current mood, I couldn’t help but admire the most beautiful building in the city before stepping inside.

[Skill Gained: The Land Knows Its Master]
“The last level-up,” I said as I looked at the three lines in front of me.
It will be the last level-up of my class for quite a while.
I do not believe I will cross the great chasm in a short time. History has shown it will be years, decades even. There is a good chance I might never cross it at all.
There is a reason, Lv. 50 is called a great chasm.
Viremont had been at this level for years, but he could never cross it; there are many others like him.
My eyes fell on my new skill, The Land Knows Its Master.
“Yes!” I said, shouting in joy, before taking a deep breath to calm myself and then closing my eyes.
Immediately, I felt all my territory.
I felt my cities, all of them, including Norke. Unlike the four vibrant ones, this one is sickly, with barely any vitality remaining in it. I focused for a while before focusing west of it near the coast.
There I sensed the dark heaviness that spread the foul taste in my mouth.
The heaviness is made of the defeated horde, along with the reinforcements
It is the same off the east coast in front of Gailhorn. Both undead armies are waiting for the right moment and chance to attack me.
I turned to Greltheaven, my most vibrant city, and felt the Velvet Garden. It is like the sun, basking the whole city in its light. There is nothing comparable to it.
The skill is not omnipresent, but it lets me feel things, be it threats or my own cities. I could feel the location, but also vitality and vibrancy.
It is one of the most desired skills by the powerful rulers.
It makes it very hard to fool the lord. I will be aware of all the big things happening in my territory. If an army entered my territory, I would sense it, just as I would sense any big powerhouse.
But it is trickier with them; they know how to hide themselves, even without specific skill.
To say, at least, I am happy. I am ecstatic, given the threats from all sides. This is the best skill I could get.
I have comprehensive combat skills; I do not need another, nor do I need any army skills; my generals have them. I need skills that will help me with managing the dominion, and it is one of them.
I watched it for a few moments before I got out of bed.
An hour later, I was having breakfast with General Azalia. She still looks tired, but much better than she did yesterday.
“Most of the soldiers would recover within a day. We will be ready for the battle if they come at us.” She stated. We may have had fewer soldiers than the enemy, but we defended from the wall and circulated our soldiers.
Not to mention, the battle ended within hours.
That kept the losses and injuries manageable. Now, after a day, many have recovered.
“Those three might agree, but it might also be a trap,” she said after nearly a minute of silence. It is worrying me too, because if it is, I will be sending Jon to his death.
“It is, but we don’t have a choice. We cannot have Grimvale coordinate an attack on us.”
She too understood what was at stake. Grimvale is at least as powerful as Viremont, and he too had gathered powerhouses; with Viremont’s army joining, I will have to bring out everything to go against him.
That would mean abandoning Gailhorn, Nakar, and Norke. Something I don’t want to do; these cities are vital to me. Especially Gailhorn and the Baronies.
“How are the advancements?” I asked, changing to a good subject. Immediately, a smile appeared on her face.
“A lot of our people advanced, including General Jarvis; he finally hit Lv. 40.” Hearing that, a big smile appeared on my face. He did very well in the battle, and now with this, he will do even better.
A moment passed, and her expression dimmed a little. “Unfortunately, Colonel Uram didn’t,” I sighed, hearing that. He too was at Lv. 39.
“His class is powerful, and there are many conditions to advance, given its aspects. Until he fulfills those, he won’t advance to Lv. 40,” I said.
It is disappointing, not as much as I would have been if it had been General Jarvis or others.
Colonel Uram has powerful skills, and he has already proved that he could fight a Lv. 40. He just needs to keep focusing on his aura until he satisfies the conditions of his class and levels up.
I do not doubt that he will.
