My theory is that the original Lola died because of fight. Either she got into a fight (unwilling) and died because of the injuries or she was killed in a fight.

It's certainly related to loosing original Lola as she promised to protect her but failed. She might be seething towards Colt hurting her but nothing compares to seeing Lola get hurt again because of Katie's experiment on a criminal.
