In some monarchies, like Britains, you can get a ruler and their prince/princess consort. Our last monarch was a prime example. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Married doesnt mean the other becomes a King/Queen.

Yeah, this is important because making them a prince/princess consort keeps them out of the line of succession for the crown. If the King/Queen dies, their spouse does not get the crown—it goes to their children or to a nephew/niece if they have no children.
