I gotta say, I love the background for this movie

Yeah John's character is not really a "good" guy, he's just not as bad as those other guys. I agree with what you said about redemption at the end, the mafia boss guy was probably just spouting all that nonsense about being cursed because he doesn't want to take on the sole responsibility for his own actions and the consequences that come with them. As far as the level of violence and gore... Yeah it's a bit much for me too. I won't speak for anyone else on Patreon but if you aren't comfortable watching the next movies in the series you shouldn't push yourself, after all it's hard to make reaction content fun if the person reacting isn't having fun.

Fun fact Keanu Reeves (John Wick) actually underwent U.S. special forces military training for this role. All the tactical reloads, the martial arts, military style firearms handling, he was essentially a special forces soldier for this movie lol. I'm kind of in the middle regarding the divine retribution aspect, I truly do believe that God does give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves but at the same time great evils can lead to terrible consequences one day and it can be looked at that way in the sense that God took his wife as punishment for the many many lives he took. It's a very difficult thing to think about because most ppl can be redeemed but sometimes the question should be asked, should we allow it because like how John spared some ppl and it lead to even greater loss, giving someone the opportunity to "redeem" themselves can lead to greater tragedy and pain. That's what makes it difficult. I'm more of the mind set where if you have caused death and destruction, you have lost your chance at redemption since you have already proved that you can and will kill for your own selfish sake and you cannot be allowed to do more harm. But that's my take on it. There are many ways to look at it, but the one thing to always consider is what can happen as a result of your decision and if it's worth taking that risk

Baba Yaga is another name for "the Bogeyman". The Bogeyman is a children's tale of an evil spirit that will find and kill you if you are awake past your bedtime. The name evolved to include any sort of "unforeseen act of evil" or just "the thing I am most afraid of". Basically, John Wick is the guy you call to kill the highest value targets imaginable. Like the Pope or something

apoc9

Does it not translate to witch? I find the usage in the movie kinda weird.

Kosumi

Yeah something like that, but in this situation I just went along with what the movie is saying to explain things. Both the Baba Yaga and Bogeyman are known for killing children so at least that's the same

I heard that "John Wick" was actually very close to being due to monetary restraints. It was with an actress named Eva Longoria that they could complete the movie and it would be released. Even to this day, Longoria gets checks from the franchise.

Off today so this was a perfect re-watch early morning - Glad you had fun watching it. its one of those movies that started a franchise, its a plain and simple revenge plot in a world that's complex and I love that kind of story telling

I think the baba yaga is a Slavic fairytale figure told to frighten children, so in that way its the equivalent of what the English world would call a bogeyman. Not the exact same but serves the same purpose

awesome reaction sprinkle just one thing, do you rent your movies from youtube? because i think for some reason youtube caps the quality of the movies at like 480p when watched on a computer. i dont know your settup or if you found a way around it, it doesnt matter to us since we watch on a small screen. but id definitely want you to watch on a better quality so your experience can be that much better. id recommend another site like amazon or a streaming service. now, i could be completely wrong, if your getting better quality than 480p, just ignore this post haha especially if you dont watch on youtube, i cant really tell.

SprinkleVerse

you are right it is capped at 480p I will checkout Amazon! 😉 Thank you so much for the advice 🥰 and I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction 💖

it was interesting to see something new for sure, I just look away or close my eyes when I can't look at something 😆 Thank you so much for looking out for me 💖

Wow, he actually went through serious training for this movie?! That’s insane 😆 I totally get what you’re saying. Even though I did say I believe everyone can be redeemed, I don’t think it’s simple at all. I feel like it really depends on the person, whether they genuinely want to change and turn away from their actions or not. If someone is truly evil to the core and never wants to change, then yeah… I don’t think redemption is possible for them. I just believe that everyone has the choice to change themselves. That said, if I were to see evil right in front of my eyes, I’d definitely want that person to face consequences for what they’ve done. I just still believe there’s a possibility for people to stop being evil, even if it’s rare and difficult.

Kenneth Flores

That's why John seemed like such an action star because he had a metric butt ton of training for this movie lol 😆 And I get you, wanting to be redeemed is truly the most important aspect and not just the consequences. After all you have to really want change for something to change and if you want to redeem yourself, you're gonna have to really want it and work for it. Otherwise you're just another villain who needs punishment. I'm just more of a hard liner kind of guy. I have little mercy for evil and I always want it to be punished unless I see a window of a chance at redemption which seldom ever shows itself.

SprinkleVerse

Thank you so much for the info!!! 💖I didn't know what those names were 😆

You did good Sprinkle, I know it was a tad rough on the gore for you. This movie is a tad more grounded than most, the way John held the gun and the way he fights with it. To think Keanu Reeves did most of this stuff on his own is surprising to me since most actors use stunt doubles and such for these action scenes.
