Patreon Blog #1, 12/06/2016: Love Will Always Win, Molly Part 2 (Patreon)

Needless to say, it's not been a good day. It's an attack on us all, wherever we are - a reminder that so long as we're visible, we can never feel fully safe...and it's hard - especially hard to keep strong in the face of something like this. But we will, one step at a time. There is no better motivation to stay visible in the face of homophobic and transphobic evil than sheer defiance.
With that said, and with self-care in mind, I've been throwing myself into my work. Peter Molyneux Part 2 is still very much on schedule to be uploaded on Monday the 20th...alas, full-time work is keeping me on a biweekly schedule at the moment, but come July I very much expect this to change. As good as things have been going with the channel recently, I expect it to get better once I can consistently upload once a week, maybe even twice (that is the eventual goal)...eventually, I'd like to upload a whole range of vids - proper documentaries and "Whole Story" review vids one day, bass vids/sillier little vids on another. It's all about laying the groundwork.
Covering Molyneux has been, I would say, one of the toughest things that I've done to date - it's such a rollercoaster of a story, a sheer epic with no clear answers...sometimes the documentaries that I do can actually be quite simple to put together - the whole thing just kinda seems to write itself...vids like the Mirrorsoft/Robert Maxwell one and even the Ocean Software video did that. This one surely hasn't! I'm still not even totally sure of just what sort of judgement I'm going to end up passing on Peter Molyneux, really.
But I'm certainly learning a hell of a lot along the way - which is one of the reasons why I do all of these documentary vids. I am not naturally a fountain of knowledge who could tell you virtually everything about a certain company on command - a lot of the time, I do these videos because I'm curious about a certain subject and want to know more...if I'm not writing, playing or editing, then I'm researching and finding a little sliver of knowledge here and there, or an article, and gradually that expands into a full piece of work. The final trigger to do Peter Molyneux, a video that's been at the back of my mind for a while (I did make an attempt last year, around the time that the 22cans/Godus controversy broke, but it was abandoned quickly because the script frankly sucked) was the recent "Lionhead: The Inside Story" article on Eurogamer, specifically a section about Milo and Kate, the game that was actually just a tech demo but no - it actually was a game...from there came the final big push in my mind to take this one on. The one thing I do hope to do also is to do as much justice to the games that I can when it comes to showing it - I don't always have enough time to do that and that'll especially be a problem as I get further and further into the Fable games, but hopefully what's there will satisfy people.
I'm currently also making slight plans here and there for life after this whole Molyneux thing is over...I know what my next vid after it is almost certainly going to be, and it'll take us to Japan for a "Whole Story" on a very strange game indeed. There's also other things to think about: I've just installed a green screen (well, partially - it's more like a green curtain right now, and I'm not sure whether my bedroom looks more like a home studio or part of a hospital ward), I'm hoping to have a mic come soon that will FINALLY fix the rather lousy audio issues that I've had for months now, and perhaps I'll finally properly set up a second channel for vloggy/transy stuff that's been at the back of my mind for ages now. All the while, things continue to grow at a faster and faster rate - it seems as though I'm now getting 1,000 more subscribers every 2 weeks, NeoGAF keeps on mentioning my name (seriously guys <3), and amazingly more people seem interested in what I have to say. Guess I'll just have to keep on giving! I do love it so.
Anyhow, it's about time to get to bed and look forward to a lovely day of putting art boards up, heavy lifting, and stressing over an End of Year Show. Yaaaayyy! And so, as ever - wherever you are and whoever you be, have a good one, take care, and remember - love always wins in the end.
