Internal Warfare [Poem] (Patreon)
Content
A few months ago I had a University assignment about writing poetry where the speaker was not yourself. I joked to some friends about writing a poem as Bakugou, to which they replied "that sounds super hard, it would take forever" and thus I was forced to prove them wrong.
I came across it again the other day and decided I may as well put it up here instead of letting it rot on my hard drive.
Explosions bursting in my heart,
A driving force that makes me fight,
With stomach knots like abstract art,
Under the blinding moonlight.
Out of mind, out of sight,
Take me back, let me restart,
So many wronged in my hindsight,
Explosions bursting in my heart.
Knowledge straining to impart,
Pride taking it as a slight,
Even with my vast headstart,
A driving force that makes me fight.
And so we stand in dead of night,
Searching for our fresh start,
With shaking fists of fading might,
With stomach knots like abstract art.
The time has come to take our part,
To set this pathway right,
Together after years apart,
Under the blinding moonlight.
Your smile shines so blinding bright,
Or at least did at the start,
But now begins our last goodnight,
Into a course we didn't chart.
Explosions bursting.
