The city was fun and all, but lets go bigger

PAGE 23

Panel 1

Wide shot of what used to be the whole city, the midground is now just a big crater where half of it used to be. Leaking pipes and the opening of a subway tunnel are seen in the cross-section of the ground beneath the buildings. This is a straight-on, high altitude shot for the buildings but a low-to-the-ground one for Isabelle. In the foreground are Isabelle’s legs walking away from the crater, her feet quaking the ground as her figure casts a massive shadow. By her back foot, right next to the edge of the crater, we see the now very tiny slab of city that she stole all of this size from—emphasizing exactly how much mass was taken.

Panel 2

High angle downward tilt shot from near the top of Isabelle’s head. Isabelle’s slightly dusty and dirt-covered body is taking up most of the right side of the frame, while the city is being left behind on the left. The ground seems so far away from this perspective. Her feet that were so large on the ground in the last panel now look small as she continues walking away from the city. She towers far above the remaining skyline past the crater behind her as more footprints are left deep in the ground. Both of her shoulders are visible from this angle, we can clearly see Dave struggling to hold onto as many of the shrunken keepsakes as he can manage. Some of them are falling off of Isa’s shoulder, tumbling down her breast. Isabelle’s expression looks mildly frustrated as she focuses on her next target.

Isabelle: “This city’s finished. Those mountains better be able to actually fill me.”

Panel 3

Wide close up, low angle shot on the tiny chunk of half the city laying in the grass. The dirt edge of the crater is peeking into the very bottom of the panel. There is some tiny commotion visible with the civilians that were shrunk down with the buildings. Isabelle’s full body can be seen weightily walking away in the distance as she makes her way closer to the horizon filled with mountains.

Isabelle: “I mean that was fun and all, but I’ve….outgrown this.”

I love the idea of using a regular sized bird to show how tiny everyone became! Really good!

I have to admit, JAW is quite talented at scale. When Isa's proportions get massive, they really feel that way too. Using similar tricks as the best Kaiju films.

A fantastic farewell to our city shenanigans!
