Hey everyone. I have to preface this message by sending a wholehearted thanks. Thanks to every single one of you who even opened this Patreon page to support the channel, let alone donate to it. I never expected this level of generosity and I'm absurdly grateful for it. Thank you.

I wish that this could be the only thing I write about today. However, recent events at Patreon have proved to be a little bit screwy and as a creator of this platform, I'd feel far too guilty not to at least talk about it directly to you all - since even though I've been fighting against it on Twitter, I realise not all of you HAVE Twitter! A very recent change Patreon made to their charging system means that you guys will be covering extra costs that should, ideally, be covered by me alone. Not you. It's been better than this for years now so why they decided this change is beyond my imagination - especially since every single person seems against the idea (and I'd like to think that nobody is 'for' it. More money for creators is NOT a good thing when it's at the expense of the pure-hearted selflessness of you guys). We're still fighting against Patreon to change this and go back to the way it was and complaints have been filed, people have left and all that stuff - but until then, I'm deeply sorry on behalf of Patreon for the inconvenience to you all. If you want to stop support, please go ahead. If you want to stay, that's fantastic - but I TOTALLY understand if you rather would not. Either way I'm unbelievably thankful for everything you've all done to help keep this channel uploading as often as it does - and if you'd like more info on what's happened, here's Patreon themselves talking about it. Doesn't make sense to me on why they implemented this but there you go. https://blog.patreon.com/updating-patreons-fee-structure/

Sorry again, guys. Dealing with YT was one thing but now the nice guys are starting to go down a slippery slope - fingers crossed it gets better!!

thank you for this caddy <3 i've also been tweeting at patreon to express my disappointment, purely because i have a set budget for my patreon pledges each month that i can afford and due to this i've had to let a couple go so i can support my favourite creators. i'm sorry that this is happening to you all over again.

Personally I agree with their decision. Increasing what I pay by 3% isn't bad at all. Considering how much more of a step this puts patreon creators to being more stable and professional. I don't mind shilling out a few extra bucks a month if it means more stably solidifying creators in their work. Somebody has to pay for this stuff, and the impact of these fees spread out over a multitude of people rather than a single person will be much more manageable for creators. So don't feel bad Caddy, I for one ain't going anywhere.

I'm sorry, but why is this a bad thing? The whole point of this site is for US to give YOU money, you shouldn't have to pay for it! I'm not a creator, I'm just a patron, and I think this is a great idea! Maybe I just have too much spare money, but I fail to see why this change would be so negatively received. I'm not joking or trolling, I genuinely don't see why this is a bad thing; again, the whole point of this site is for those of us who have money to fund artists who lack funds, this is just us doing that, it's what I signed up for. Can you be a bit clearer about the negatives here? You're a sweetheart and all, but I don't understand this post. V_V

As a person who managed an A* in GCSE maths (then swore to never take maths as a subject again), the Patreon e-mail had me scratching my head a lot. It's amazing how business-speak can make anything sound like the best thing since sliced bread, and yet being largely immune to that it did piss me off that they were essentially saying we would be the ones the bare (or bear? I forget the correct usage of the word) the costs. I agree with you, Caddy- this is the kind of fee that should be borne by the content creator. Not out of selfishness on my part, but simply because it keeps the relationships simpler. As a donator (and, I apologise, a pretty lowly one at that) my relationship at present is squarely with you. And your relationship is with us as customers, and then with Patreon as paying for them for the service they provide. Their business-speak is essentially saying they don't want to look bad by eating into content-creators, so instead want to pass that fee onto us... In order to "save the perecentage content creators can keep". This is bullshit for one simple reason: the *percentage* of money I hand over that ends up yours will go down. In effect, they are trying to pass the buck onto us. For me to now pay an additional fee to Patreon means I am now wanting to investigate how they spend that money, whether they are efficient in spending that money. Because I am now paying them directly for the privilige of their service. I don't appreciate that. When I purchase something through Paypal, I wouldn't appreciate having to pay them as well as the person I am paying. Even though, let's face it, there is a percentage added to PayPal/Ebay fees that indirectly will come from my pocket. If there is any way I can support you through other means like Paypal, or even a direct bank transfer, I'd gladly oblige. Again... I haven't got a lot of money myself at the minute (and in the process of moving house), but still. You provide a product I very much appreciate viewing and supporting.

Hey Caddy, Appreciate the statement and if you'll allow i'll make one in response. You are the most humble, deserving and awesome guy on YT. The fact you've shown such understanding regarding the changes and have allowed people a pass to cut their support if they need to is incredible. When i met you @ EGX i was a nervous wreck yet you allowed me to ramble at you about how much your videos have meant to me. Both you and Cerys were so amazing and responsive it really made my day, but then came your EGX video and to think that the little 3 second throw away clip you caught of me before our picture made it into the final product? i dont believe it was by circumstance, i truly believe you knew how much it would mean to me and put it in. Regardless it MADE. MY. YEAR. My girlfriend said the smile didn't come off my face for weeks! Dude, despite everything going on w/ patreon I've decided to double my pledge and i'll happily take on any extra costs if it means more money in your pocket. Keep being you Keep being awesome Much love!
