'Caddicarus' is changing. (Patreon)

Hello, everyone! Thank you once again for all of your loving support through thick and thin, and I hope you can stick with me as I ramble on for a few paragraphs today. It's quite big news I have to share, and hopefully, you'll see this as yet another evolution and experimentation with my content, which I have commited to doing ever since I scrapped my 7 odd other shows and focused entirely on Caddicarus in around 2016. That was a change for the better, and I can only pray this will be too - for me and for you. I’d also MASSIVELY appreciate it if you don’t share these plans ANYWHERE. This is patreon-exclusive news so those who are directly financially supporting me know what’s going down, and as you’ll see, it’s best if we keep this between us anyway for maximum impact.

Basically, my channel is going through a slight makeover. Taking aside all the nonsense we’ve had with COPPA and channels being completely demonetised for 'tricking kids' into watching 'kid-friendly content' that isn't 'kid friendly' (not to mention the fines associated with it), the analytics for my channel have been very slowly dying on me. The numbers are good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s slowly starting to become financially too hard to keep going on this plateau of figures with the sheer amount of sleepless nights and work each Caddicarus takes to get out per week (I am a one-man show, after all). Over the past weekend I spent a lot of time with an SEO (search engine optimisation) expert to see what could be causing this plateau, and nobody knows. Caddicarus as a show has been VERY slowly bleeding out since my PS Classic video in January. Or, at least, if the numbers still look good, the growth has completely stopped, which is buggering up how visible I am on YouTube, and is negatively affecting how I create videos when YouTube keep changing the algorithm every 2 weeks. I can't keep up, to put it simply!

One thing we did notice with the channel though was that the CTR rant video I made ages ago has actually performed better than ANY Caddicarus I’ve uploaded since then. We don’t know why it’s doing better than the show that got me where I am today, but that’s just how it is. It never used to be that random topical videos like that did better than the bread and butter of the channel, but like I said, keeping up with YouTube's changes is a bit of a bitch.

Instead of looking at this with doom and gloom, however; this gave me an idea. A new show, but in an EXTREMELY similar format to the Caddicarus show. So similar, in fact, that we’ve decided to not notify subscribers about it (with a vlog upload) to ease people in and not put them off. This new show (unnamed, as well) will cover brand new gaming topics/news/first impressions of games and movies, but with exactly the same effort gone into joke-writing and skit-filming with costumes as a standard Caddicarus episode. Same camera, same microphone - and in fact, all on-camera appearances will have audio recorded by my voice-over microphone. There’s been so much going on in my life and so many opinions I have on everything from shitty kids to bad games I haven’t got time to make videos about, that I want to bring you all in and share in a veyr 'Caddicarus' kind of way - just with more of a personal 1-to-1 angle. The best thing though is that this new show won’t take as much editing work as a Caddicarus, so I could EASILY get at least 2 done every week. This also means I can do a lot more with patreon rewards and real-time bonuses within videos, which is better for all of you. If I can give you any clue on what this will be like - imagine my CTR rant video - but with more written jokes and cutaway gags/edited shit flying all over the screen. The perfect mix between Caddicarus and rant.

What about Caddicarus episodes though? Well, they're not going anywhere. They just won’t be as often as usual. Maybe 2 a month, but I’m not sure yet. One thing me and my guy did notice was that PlayStation-exclusive Caddicarus content performs infinitely better than multi-platform games, so I may just keep the show for what I’m best known for - PlayStation. PS1, PS2, PS3, and brand new PS4 exclusive stuff (Last of Us 2, God of War etc). This way, Caddicarus could not only become more of an 'event' (think of JonTron and how spaced his uploads are), but they'll always be about the systems I have branded my channel around. No more multi-platform Caddicarus's like Yooka Laylee, and no more Nintendo like Luigi's Mansion 3. BUT - I CAN always cover those games in my new format that I'm planning. So you'll still get my opinions, just not with as much gameplay and voice-over-only segments.

I wanted to save this until the near-end of the month so that you got a whole month’s worth of what you paid for before I changed things up.
