So, what’s going on? (Patreon)

Hey everyone. Happy new year! Once again, before anything else, thanks so much for your continued love and support. You’re probably wandering what my plans are for 2023 and where your donations have been going - well I’m going to answer both questions right now!

In my separate patron funds pot, I’ve used the money to invest in a few things for the channel/streaming. I picked up a few new bits of hardware for streams (including new camera stands and a new standing portable light), a new high-speed SSD external drive to keep older video files safe, 2 new Apple Studio monitors for 10x better clarity and colour accuracy for editing, and probably the most important thing - an upgraded MacBook for all my work. Before, I was using a 2021 MacBook Pro with this new M1 Max chip, 2tb of storage and 64gb of RAM. It was an absolute monster, and without it, I couldn’t have been able to edit some of the biggest videos of my career so far. Well now, Apple just released a new model of MacBook Pro with an M2 Max chip - which is essentially triple+ the power of the M1, and I can’t wait to see how quick I can edit videos and render them out. On top of that, I opted in for 8tb of storage and 96gb of RAM, which is overkill as hell, but anything to make editing another potential 2.5 hour video easier is fine by me. This stuff was not cheap, and without your contributions, I wouldn’t have been able to invest into it, so I can’t thank you all enough.

On top of that, because of how powerful this new MacBook will be, I’m actually planning on using it to stream. Not to game, but to actually run all the streaming software separate from my PC, and run the footage/camera/mic etc through the MacBook. It’s experimental, but I’m hoping that this will take a lot of stress off of the PC trying to stream AND run games simultaneously, and hopefully should negate some of the glitches and technical issues I get plagued with during streams. I’m also thinking about streaming directly from my second channel instead of Twitch, which is exciting. The MacBook should reach me by the start of Feb, so expect to see some streams slowly return next month.
