The Skill Rework (Patreon)
Content
Aight, so per the latest poll, the skill redesign and Android port has won. However, the results were very close and I understand people care about the build variety more than I originally thought. Thus, I have scrapped the old system completely (saved the perks for reference), but I'm rebuilding an Android-compatible version that still keeps the build and class variety:
Skills aren't accessed through the main menu anymore. You may access them (and advance them) only after dying and getting sent to the Reaper's Graveyard. This ties in to the "die to improve" mechanic already in the game.
Skill trees aren't based on generic fantasy or generic RPG concepts anymore. They are thematically tied to each Domina, the idea being you are focusing on a particular playstyle by adopting a Domina's aspect more.
Dominas will recognize you adopting their respective aspects.
You may spec in more than one aspect, but at the cost of not delving as deep into a singular one.
The cryptic "Corruption" mechanic still exists and will affect the game's ending.
I'm not removing any weapon types or weapon specilization.
Learning magic is now tied to the plot, you aren't immediately able to cast Soul Links after drinking Katrina's potion (you're still learning it early on though so you can have a magicka build).
The above rework naturally requires several other tweaks to fit naturally into the game. Namely, I'm giving each Domina a more unique fighting style and reworking each boss fight with a unique gimmick. I'm also reworking the Lost fights in the following ways:
The Lost are now separated to Lost Champions (men like you who failed at their quest) and regular Lost (random men from earth or the Domina's realm that had their souls stolen or destroyed by the Domina).
Lost Champions are rarer and are considered mini-bosses.
Regular Lost are now considered "farming" and mostly exist for plot and easy levelling reasons. Fights with them are either very fast or automated.
I have a few more ideas I'd like to implement, but I'm still processing them and they aren't guaranteed, so I'll reveal them at a later date. I'm also planning several follow-up posts about other mechanics I plan to touch to revitalize the game and give it a more professional feel. Obviously the polls will greatly affect this.
