He's a real wife now, finally, after all these years 🥹

While some of my drawings of these two take place after they're already married, I'd never actually drawn their wedding before! And what's a better time to do that than for Mystic Messenger's 10 year anniversary!!

For years, in a way, I've felt too afraid to draw their wedding because I felt like I needed to make it absolutely perfect, and I felt like I didn't have the skills to do that. Or that on the long run I wouldn't be happy with the choices I made for their outfits and the piece as a whole. I put a lot of pressure on it in my head, just like how in real life people often want their weddings to be perfect.

But for the 10 year anniversary, it was about time. I pushed through that dumb idea that it had to be "perfect" because I realised, I literally have free will, I can just redraw it in another 10 years with updated outfits and techniques if I want to!

This piece ended up taking over 70 hours in total (without counting the time spent looking for references etc.) and with that it's the largest single illustration I've ever made 🥲 I hope y'all like it! These flowers probably took years off of my life but man was it an experience. Definitely gotta do some simpler and smaller pieces now for a little bit to recharge hahaha

With this being the last piece in the Mystic Messenger character x OC series, I need to explain about Saeran and Sunset as well! I'm sure many of you already know about them, but since I haven't posted them as much these past few months due to drawing the other couples for the series, if you started supporting me during that time you might not be as familiar with them yet🤔 If you already know about them feel free to skip till the next divider!

SPOILERS FOR MYSTIC MESSENGER

Saeran is our beloved malewife who loves flowers, ice cream and the sky. He didn't really get a great start in life, his mother being an abusive alcoholic who treated him and his twin (Saeyoung) horribly and used them to get money out of their politician father.

As a result of his childhood he developed multiple "personalities". "Multiple personality disorder" is the outdated term, and though the specific disorder he has is never stated in game, he's said to have multiple personalities/personas. I headcanon and depict him with dissociative identity disorder specifically and will refer to the different "personas" as alters from here!

This was mentioned in Saeyoung's post already, but when they were teens he had to leave Saeran, hoping he would be able to protect him that way. This did not go very well for anyone involved. A few years later Saeran was kidnapped to a cult by Rika and made to believe Saeyoung abandoned him, and Saeran was manipulated and drugged into seeking "revenge" against him.

That's how he ends up working as a hacker for the cult. Rika's and his "revenge" plans include getting an outsider to the cult, and that's where the player steps in. You're told to "test a dating sim" made by him, but the dating sim actually isn't a dating sim at all and you're actually talking to real people and without realising it, getting information from them for the cult.

The alter we as the player meet at the cult at first is Ray, who wishes to be a charming prince, and he certainly is, but he's also a little shy. He's VERY into the player from the start and would do basically anything for you. He's very cute and deserves a lot of kisses.

The second guy is just called Saeran but the most commonly used nickname for him is "Suit" because he wears a suit lol and that's what I always call him as well! But in-universe his name is just Saeran. Suit seems to be very different to Ray, he seems cruel and angry all the time but in fact he's just afraid. He's the protector and he's trying his best to protect Ray, the player and himself, but his ways of doing this are misguided. He's very lovable as well and desperately needs hugs.

And finally, when the player reaches the good ending on his route, there's another Saeran. His name in-game is also just Saeran, but to differentiate between these guys I sometimes call him GE Saeran after "good ending" or more often Saeray, because many of his traits came from Ray and Suit. Sunset also calls him Saeray! He's very devoted and a literal angel, he's so kind and sweet to everyone, even those who hurt him in the past, but he's also kind of a teasing little shit sometimes :3

So, eventually they are able to escape the cult and also deal with other issues that made it unsafe for them to be outside of the cult in the first place (but you're gonna have to play the game to find out what that is and how that happens cuz it'd be too long to explain here, this is already so long💀). I believe all three alters still exist after the good ending of the game, and most of my art of them nowadays depicts their life happily together after that!

(There's also another timeline in the game which includes another alter, Unknown, but I mostly focus on the timeline his route takes place in, so unfortunately Unknown doesn't get drawn as much 🥹 He's very emo and the most focused on getting his "revenge". He also needs love like the others.)

Sunset on the other hand is in the "player's" place in this universe. I originally created her as an OC/self insert mix for a roleplay back in 2019 when one of my friends asked me to, and while that roleplay hasn't existed for over 6 years, she still does! She was partly inspired by the playable character of the game, but also myself or what I wanted to be/do when I made her.

So she's also an artist, though she mostly does traditional paintings of flowers. She wears a lot of pink and loves detailed dresses! She's pretty bold and sometimes even cheesy and cringy with her flirting lol, and she's more dominant-leaning🤭 It's quite hard to make her blush but she has no trouble making him flustered :3 And she loves all of her malewives!💖

This game has meant so much to me over the past 10 years. It's hard to believe it's been that long since I first opened Mystic Messenger back when I was 14, and now I'm about to turn 24 in a couple of weeks. I didn't play the game for 1.5 years between 2017-2018, but got back to it at the end of 2018 and that's when I fell for Saeran.

I spent my teenager years growing up with this game and it shaped me into the person I am today. It shaped my art style and I grew my identity around the game. I wouldn't be the same person without this game, and it genuinely got me through so many hard times. When I was badly struggling with my mental health to the point where I had to drop out of university on my 3rd year, it was one of the very few things that brought me joy. Drawing Saeran was able to distract me from the things going on in my life at the time, multiple times over the years.

I've met so many wonderful people and made so many good friends all thanks to this game, and now some these friendships have lasted for the better part of a decade. MysMe was also the reason I figured out I was into submissive guys in the first place, god bless this game and its many submissive-coded love interests, this page wouldn't exist without it. This game motivated and pushed me to draw every day for 453 days while we were all waiting for Saeran's After Ending and I lowkey think I peaked there, drawing consistently for so long was so cool and I'll never achieve something like that again- LMAO

Mystic Messenger has genuinely been such an important part of my life and I can't believe it's been 10 whole years!

I don't think there could ever be a character more perfect for me than Saeran. He's exactly all the things I like in a character, but all of that in one. He's a sweet devoted prince who's a little shy (and, affectionately, a freak in more ways than one and we love him for it), but he's also an emo touch-starved catboy-coded tsundere fucker who pushes people he loves away out of fear while trying to protect those he loves, and he's also the kindest loving angel on earth who wants to grow flowers and bake and cook for you as your malewife every day. If I could choose he'd probably be 80% of what I draw! I love him so much TwT💖💕

The alter in this piece is Saeray, since he's the host, in control of the body most of the time. The paintings above them are based on some of my old pieces from many years ago, and this whole piece is actually a loose redraw of this drawing from 2020! That piece was also used for the first painting, while the middle one is this one I did for a zine in 2021 and the third one is this one from 2024.

Her (and mine lol) favourite flowers are pink roses and peonies, but there's also quite a few lilies of the valley around them and in their outfits, especially Saeran's, because that's his flower and their promise of happiness has come true. There are some sprinkled here and there on her dress, one on her bow, his earrings and his cravat, as well as both of their crowns! They're a princess and a prince and both of them get veils because he's also a wife 💖

That all said, now that the series is done, I'll get back to regularly scheduled programming 😼 I've got some commissions and Art Fight stuff to do and I also finally can get to drawing that Miro x Noel thing I've been meaning to draw for months but didn't have time to do! And I have some plans for Saeran and Sunset as well....👀 (And will talk more about NSFW plans in the next NSFW post :3)
