Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy my full-length, unedited 3.5-hour analysis of A SILENT VOICE! One of the most powerful and emotional movies that I have ever watched.

A masterpiece with important advocacy about suicide prevention, loneliness, and the power of meaningful relationships.

Enjoy :)

I watch this movie like 1-2 times a year because it honestly helps me not want to hurt myself, kinda like a therapy I can afford. Also, id have to say im a nature person, I prefer the quiet and cooler temperature in woods like camping and fishing in lakes and rivers which has way more experiences and activities to experience, also lets me internalize my thoughts. :D and thank you for sounding out your thoughts about this amazing movie, you should check out more movies like kimi no nawa and a whisker away.

Hang in there and I hope my analysis was helpful. It too shall pass, the sorrow, depression, no suicidal self injury, or even suicidal thoughts!!

The cold open was definitely an aborted suicide attempt. He left his job, sold off all his stuff, gave all his money away and crossed off his calendar in a countdown to his last day. He was about to let himself fall forward off the bridge with his arms extended when the fireworks interrupted him and, for some reason, stopped him. He is in a very bad place at that point in the story. His remorse for being a bully has turned to self hatred and a pull towards self destruction.

Lip reading is very difficult. Even very skilled people only catch about one in three words and fill in the rest by context. Even written language can be challenging. Sign languages have their own grammar. Learning to read and write a spoken language is almost like learning a foreign language.

There is huge push to “mainstream” students in regular schools and classes with support (like note takers and interpreters) as needed. Specialized schools for the deaf are great for social development, sign language acquisition, and being a part of deaf culture. Unfortunately, they usually involve living away from family. Mainstreaming helps with integration into the hearing world.

Just as a resource, in the US, the national suicide prevention hotline now has an easy to remember shortcut number: 988
