Hello Patreon family! I hope you enjoy my detailed psychological analysis of episode 11 of Your Lie in April! There are many unsung heroes in our lives, similar to how Kousei is a hero for Takashi, but, at the same time, we are all humans, and no need to put anyone on a pedestal ~

My main takeaways from the episode

1) Heroes are men (and women) who have not fallen off the pedestal yet, but they will because we are all flawed humans

2) When we place our belief in another person, equally fallible as we are, we will invariably be disappointed, but that is okay, and it too is a part of our growth

3) Perception is not reality, which was portrayed powerfully through Takashi's perception of Kousei's performance and how I, Emi, Kaori, Tsubaki, and Watari viewed it

Happy new week, everyone~

Waiting4Erik

Kaori in the music room with Kousei - recall their exchange on the Bridge of Bravery… Kao: “We’re all moved by something…something that compels us to play.” Kou: “Is that how YOU feel..I don’t deserve to be a performer.” Kao: “I’m sure there are plenty of musicians in the same boat!” Then as Kaori opens her violin case and embraces her violin for the first time since she fainted she says to herself: “Sorry. I’m sorry I dropped you. I don’t deserve to be a violinist.” We see the obvious that Kousei has been carried by Kaori. Since her performance in episode 2, Kaori has not done anything without Kousei’s support - including jumping from the Bridge of Bravery. Quietly she’s been leaning on him for support, too.

The firefly scene hits so much harder on rewatches. And the OST…is too perfect 😭. The song is titled “My Truth.” It is Kaori’s voice actress singing. So it is Kaori’s Truth. The truth she can’t bring herself to say. The music is inspired by and contains musical themes from “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso” by Camille Saint-Saëns - the song Kaori chose for them to play in the competition. The violin playing is full of so much tenderness, love, longing, melancholy, sorrow, regret. The singing is tender and soothing, yearning for hope, heartfelt. The drumming adds a periodic steady heartbeat rhythm. The piano playing provides space and gentle support for the violin and singing. “It’s so weak, but it’s shining with all its might.” It’s all Truth in this scene.

Even Kaori said the same thing when she performed back in episode 2. "Will it reach them?" Also this is the last episode with this opening. I'm not sure what spoilers there are that you were warned about, but it would be cool to give it a watch at least once. It's a great song and the art in the opening deserves to be seen!

I don't consider there to be any spoilers in the 2nd opening either, but I understand if you decide to wait til the finale to analyze it. I understand you've probably already seen episode 13 by now. I cannot wait to see your reaction to it! It's by far my favorite episode of the entire series!

Psychotherapist Reacts

In small towns here in Japan its kinda normal to leave your door unlocked! My friends have told stories of how they'll arrive home to like bags of vegetables on their kitchen tables as a gift from the farmer neighbours sometimes lol, crime rate is extremely low especially in smaller towns.
