Hello Patreon family! I hope you enjoy my detailed psychological analysis of episode 1 of Mob Psycho 100! I came into the show with no expectations and completely blind, as always, and, boy oh boy, I was pleasantly surprised by the over-the-top animation and comedic gold throughout, without overshadowing the important psychological undertone.

My main takeaways from the episode

1) There are people in our lives, similar to Reigen, who represent ambiguous attachment, and they may not fill the role or the void of our primary caregivers or meaningful relationships, but they play a role nonetheless

2) Reigen is a half-fraud-half-mentor for Mob, and I am curious to see the ongoing developmental impact and outcome of their interesting dynamic

3) Mob's emotional flatness does not mean the absence of his emotions, but rather his active emotional suppression because of his fear that his psychic power may lose control; at the same time, what we do not express gets depressed over time, and we must learn to verbalize and externalize our internal pressure and emotions

As always, I made the first episode free for everyone to celebrate a new, wonderful series. Happy weekend, and new series, everyone~

PS., to all Yappers and Seekers, your 1-week early access to episode 2 will be available soon

Good catch Benoit! The writer and original illustrator of mob psycho also created one punch man.

Well connecting to one punch man makes sense. Same writer Fortunately this series never skimps on the animation

Whats neat is that you made the connection from the style of the monsters in the prolonged. Not even from seeing the way faces are drawn and Mobs design and style.

OMG you're reacting to Mob Psycho!!!!! Honestly, I understand how the director wanted to draw viewers in with the promise of epic action in episode 1 but I don't really agree with the decision to spoil the premise in the opening scene with a fight that doesn't really have any other point to it other than that. It's a 10/10 show, and I get why the story did it, but I don't agree. It's kinda like Game of Thrones but not anywhere near as necessary or effective.

Mob: bends a spoon (maybe the weakest feat in the entire show) Benoit: H-He's so powerful... Hahaha, you'd make a good Reigen in a live action 😂😂

I watched the first season of this way back when it premiered, so it's all pretty new to me again. I guess we can add a new recurring descriptor to the list: 1. Sizeable fruits/nuts 2. Sub water flea 3. Buttchin goblin I love it!

Reigen got clocked by you instantly
