Hello, Patreon family! Please enjoy my detailed analysis of the Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Episode 15. What a wholesome, sweet friendship episode. Nothing is sweeter than genuine friendship, not even the best sundae or ice cream!!

My main takeaways from the episode

1) Maomao is about to open up her apothecary-themed ice-cream shop, the first flagship of the Chinese dynasty

2) My heart broke for Xiaolan and her fear about her future, her fear-based freeze response, and the powerlessness of so many other girls similar to her position (or lack thereof) in the rear palace; Xiaolan is a lucky one, but what about the rest of them?

3) I got goosebumps after Shisui, or shall I say Loulan, appeared immediately after I was sharing conjectures about her identity and her whereabouts...Are you listening in??

This episode made me jump toward the end, out of pure excitement, because I got to witness the dream team assemble, Maomao and her mentor, adoptive father, reuniting as one to help Lady Ryokuyou's safe delivery. So PEAK.

Actually, Loulan would have to punish Xiaolan, even if she really is Shisui for damaging her ice. It's basically protocol. Unless she likes her ice-cream. We know Shisui does

Whoa...whoa...whoa...you love Food Wars...then My Dress Up Darling shouldn't have bothered you at all...except for that bathroom scene. Food Wars is so echee. It's nothing but Fan Service.....I am a big fan of Food Wars too. So if you are right then we need to look at who is the real person. Loulan or Shisui just like for decades of trying to figure out who is the real person when it comes to Bruce Wayne and Batman. I think we can all agree that Batman is the answer.

Such a fun episode. Shisui showed up as soon as the Eunuch left... how long was she lingering around? And the dream team together! Hopefully between the two of them Lady Gyokuyou will be just fine. And Suirei... well. We'll see, won't we?

It's the you can't help but want to hug Xiaolan because she is just so innocent and has no bad intentions in her. Maomao's great denial continues with her being unable to say to Jinshi that she loves Xialoan as a friend/little sister type. It's such a huge leap from earlier on when Maomao had said that she didn't think she could get close to anyone besides her Dad and her big sisters in the brothel. If you are at the time of your life that you might think of kids, Lingli is one of those babies that makes you want to have a baby (even though it's Anime). Just call her Empress Maomao with how much she is doing to keep people alive in the Rear Palace lol. I think Maomao's ability to hyperfocus on the small details is part of why so many people have asked for your analysis because it leans towards what so many people see as far as neurodivergent or autistic. This is one of those things that the ability and level of layering so many different things in one episode by the writer of this series is something that is just a different level than most of us are at. Have I mentioned lately the emotional damage you are in for in the rest of this series? I can not mention enough be prepared to feel every single emotion from here on out.

Here we go!! We are going up the roller coaster about to enter the part where it sits on top before the 1st drop🎢 Btw, now may a good time to avoid the comments from here on out. We get so excited about this show as fans but people will still (unintentionally or not) run rampant with potential spoilers. Good Folks let’s please allow Benoit and others the chance to experience the thrill of the ride like we did when we watched for the first time?? Pretty please???!!

Not to undersell the hardship Xiaolan went through being sold off, in the novels it's stated they did so to avoid the rest of her family starving. On a lighter note the ice cream making reminded me of an activity I used to do in kindergarten. You'd take a coffee can and use it to hold the water, salt and ice. And have a smaller can inside with the ice cream ingredients. Have the kids roll it around for a while and you've got what's more or less ice cream.

Your ability to predict things is insane 😭 Maomao the cat of all trades lol Purely conjecture on my part but I wonder if she’s seen/assisted with pregnancies having grown up in the red light district and picked up some knowledge there.

With the upside-down pregnancy thing, I remembered a quote from Detective Conan, where Conan figures out a very difficult puzzle in a very stressful situation because the answer was what he most feared, which made him stay more alert. Maybe that's what's going on with Maomao in this situation. She feared something about the pregnancy going wrong (given also how high was maternal mortality was back then), and that's why she could figure it out with such a little cue...

Maomao is just honest and it's more important to address the elephant in the room now and not later. After all her adoptive father is considered a criminal and an outcast. If she went with praising him first. Building him up and than reveal that he is technically a criminal, it would not put her in a good light.

So Luomen probably was a really pretty young man, if she states he looks more like an elderly woman, and we've seen how old guys look in this show!! Maybe Jinshi will have the same fate when older xD
