Hello, Patreon family! Please enjoy my detailed analysis of the Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Episode 16. I am going to say this again, as I did at the end of the video, this was absolutely peak, and my new favorite episode since the Lakan reveal, the colorblind episode, the hunt, the frog, wait...Hold up...You get my point!

My main takeaways from the episode

1) I have had some folks call me out for self-glazing too much with how excited I get whenever my predictions are on point, but hey, that is how much I enjoy the series. And, I was unable to contain my excitement throughout, with all heavyweight characters coming together with some of my conjectures landing; Suirei, you have no idea the wrath you will soon incur from Jinshi, Lakan, Lady Ryokuyou, and the Emperor (Team Maomao)

2) Suirei's chess move, using Luolan/Shisui as a hostage and enticing Maomao with her intellectual curiosity about the secret behind resurrection medicine, was a brilliant display of Sun Tzu's "Art of War ": Know Your Enemy

3) Lady Ah-Duo's surprising appearance nearly had me jump out of the chair, and it represents the intimate knowledge she holds, in relation to Jinshi's true identity, Maomao's importance to Jinshi, their closeness, and how beloved Ah-Duo truly is by the Emperor

What an absolutely peak episode this was. It truly scratched all my itches and left me feeling fulfilled and satisfied. Until next week~

I feel like it's says a lot about Luoman that he's the one that clues both Maomao and the audience to the quacks actual name, the idea of not treating him with the respect of a master physician doesn't even occur to Luoman. Also I wonder if he's warm towards the quack doctor because of how the quacks been treating Maomao. I can't speak for all people but I think most people had that relative or family friend growing up that doted on them. Maomao didn't have that what with the neglect when she was growing up, but now the quack is filling that doting uncle role. ( Speaking of I'm sorry qauck I still can't remember your name!) 😴

Let's start with Happy belated Birthday! I hope you have had the best week since your birthday <3. What is a great character without the older counterpart that keeps them humble? I look at it this way, if you are looking to ask for someone's hand in marriage and asking for the family's approval, you will do something that will make all parties happy. Jinshi is not only helping the concubines by having her adopted father come back to the palace, he makes Maomao happy by her Dad being taken care of and also makes it easier to propose in a more direct way. Now it's just breaking down the great wall of denial of Maomao to get her to understand what Jinshi wants lol. Depression is a vicious beast so many of us that always put the so much positivity out there because we know how rare it is to get so we hope that it will have a karma like effect and bounce back to us in good ways. It makes you understand better why Shenlu has the motive to be angry about being stuck here until she dies because of the old emperor and what he did. The fact that they yet again have around Episode 16 of the season to start to have all the ingredients boil together to the masterpiece dinner they are cooking. Yes from what I have learned Tanuki is basically like a Racoon. This episode it starts to show that Lakan and the whole family when it comes to intellect is playing 4D chess while everyone else is playing checkers. I feel like the grape juice was Lakan's check mate move of him determining who Shishou and his family is and what they are after. Them showing that the current Emperor still having as close of a relationship with Ah-Duo allows you to know that even with the back and forth of who Jinshi's real parents are this proves it in my opinion more than anything if there was any lingering doubts. I keep saying every week as good as this is, somehow someway this show still gets better. There is a reason why there is certain shows that have changed my brain chemistry as to what is needed from shows. I am so excited and can't wait for your next reaction to the next episode.

This episode is crazy, and Lakan's scene is one of my favorites in the entire series. It's amazing how, after putting pressure on Shishou, Lakan gets him to relax by talking about something else (his wife) so that he lets his guard down and doesn't realize that Lakan's final trick is still to come. Impressive.

Happy late birthday. I hope you are going to find your jaw after it drops even more in the coming episodes. Also about Lakan. Lakan is not aligning with Jinshi. He is just doing his job. His job is to keep the empire safe. And that's what he is doing. Granted, he probably put a little more effort into it because someone dared to hurt Maomao during the assassination attempt. And there are two things you should avoid. Do not F with Lakan and do not hurt his Daughter.

Oh I didn't see anyone mention it, but a tanuki is a raccoon dog that looks very much like a raccoon but technically belongs to the canine family. They appear in Japanese folklore often as mischievous tricksters. Very similar to how foxes are portrayed.

Hello & Blessings, from my perspective the Emperor's Fraction is separate from Jinshi's Fraction ( He has personal and private goals different from the Emperor, I believe He will remain supportive and loyal ). One could say that He is a strong supportive Allie to the the Emperor and the Fractions that are on the Emperor's Side. Maomao is a Peace Keeper Fraction with very few persons who She subconsciously allows Herself genuine Loyalty. Lakan's a Lone Wolf Fraction who genuine Loyalty to very few ( Cherished Love Ones). Lady AhDuo's Genuine Loyalty is point towards the Emperor and Jinshi, I believe that like Jinshi Her Fraction is separate from the Emperor and separate from Jinshi; She is both supportive and Loyal Allie to both ( probably more towards Jinshi ). There may be a time in the future where Maomao's Fraction & Jinshi Fraction may emerge ( wither they marry or not ).
