First off, let me give a warm welcome to new patrons. I was lucky enough to receive many new pledges last month, so I thank you all for doing that.

This is the post where you all can drop off your questions for this month's video Q&A. Please just one question per patron. I will say that I'm planning on releasing this one much sooner than last month's, maybe on or around August 7th?

Previous Q&A's can be viewed in this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3lJFzNSaN7SE7AAWRLGyfnf4S2oONOm-

If the MLB decides to expand again, what two cities not named Montreal would you want to see get teams?

Robert Emerson

Hello Bailey, hope all is well. Just wondering how you see the A.L east finishing up, with the Red Sox only making one big move while the other three contenders were a lot more active at the deadline. What has to happen for the jays and Yankees to slingshot within 3-4 games of the division lead?

DiscoKazuma

Greetings from the UK! As a Mets fan, I'm happy to see my team being not quite as dysfunctional as usual this season. But I still think that given our record, even if we hold onto first place in the NL East, we will be absolutely embarrassed by most other teams in the postseason. Do you agree, or am I being overly pessimistic?

Taylor Hensley

What are your thoughts on the mlb switching balls to the Olympic ball, or just any other ball?

Taylor Mazzocchi

Hello again, Bailey! Over the last month or so Manfred has publicly said he's getting rid of 7-inning doubleheader, and the runner on 2nd extra's rule, and I see a lot of fans applauding him for that. If I recall correctly, players almost unanimously like both of these rules, so am I just being way too cynical in thinking this is nothing but a negotiation tactic from Manfred? This way when the CBA negotiations come, he can "concede" and keep both of these rules to appease the players, while giving a leg-up to the owners. Additionally, this would help turn fans against the players since fans seem to mostly like both these rules getting axed. What do you think? I'll hang-up and listen.

Ethan

What trade deadline move surprised you the most?

Paul

Say you’re given the ability to go back in time and protect any player from injuries (or at least major/catastrophic injuries). Who are some guys you’d consider going for?

Joseph Titus

Hey Bailey, happy monthly foolish Bailey day, the monthly day where u take all of our money ;) What are some of your favorite stats that are more uncommon, even to some people versed in baseball analytics? For example, I love Barrel% and LD%, because both are highly correlated with wOBACON, etc. thanks and also u should dance more in your videos

Delos Chen

Who was the 'winner' of the trade deadline out of the teams that were selling?

Sean Huff

Hi Bailey. I'm a big fan of professional Wiffle ball, especially the MLW league in Michigan. So I often wonder, who do you think would be the best Wiffle players among MLB players? Thanks Bailey. Also is there any way I can buy your merch if ethically I can't support Jomboy?

Sean

In your opinion, who is the least talented team to win a World Series?

Wyatt Huggins

Not baseball related but how has the move to Atlanta been? What’s your favorite restaurant that you’ve been to? If you like Brazilian steakhouses, Fogo de Chão is pretty great. If you like southern food, OK Cafe off of the West Paces Ferry exit of 75 is good and a really good pizza place is Davinci’s over by the High museum. Hope all is well Bailey.

Keegan Tatum

How do you explain the differences in ERA+ between Seamheads and BB-Ref? Take Willie Foster (Bill on BB-Ref) in 1926. Same NNL ERA on both sites. Foster threw the same 174.2 IP with the same 1.80 ERA, according to both sites. But Foster has a 199 ERA+ on Seamheads and a 252 ERA+ on BB Ref. (Note: OPS+ seems consistent).

Chase Jakobowski

Hey Bailey, hope your doing alright. As someone who loves Baseball and knows a lot about it, would you like to ever work for the mlb in someway? Maybe as coaching or analyst or something. If you had the opportunity would you say yes or stick with what your doing now? Keep up the good work dude!

Max T

I feel like this is always a big debate around other sports, but not so much baseball: who is, in your opinion, the clutchest player in MLB history?

logan smith

How exactly do you compare the value that pitchers provide to the value that position players provide? For example Jacob DeGrom had 9.0 fWAR in 2018 and Christian Yelich had 7.7, Yelich took the MVP even though DeGrom was more valuable based on WAR. Love you Bailey <3

Kurt

What do you think is going to happen in the NL West now that the dust has settled from the deadline?

Troy Lahrman

If you could choose one White Sox position player to join your team who would it be?

Michael Piazza

Of all currently rebuilding teams, who do you think contends soonest?

runrin

What would you think of reducing the number of mound visits, and not giving a free visit for pinch hitters? I think it could be strategically interesting. Do you try to calm down a starter early, and lose a late game scouting report reminder? This would go well with not allowing those little cheat sheet cards anymore.

Nolan McDermott

Did you get the inspiration for the one line from the deGrom video where you say "every pitch he threw in the game was over 91 MPH" from my DM on twitter. Just curious because you said in the past that you read all DM's and it was similar to something I mentioned. If so I'm honored.

Oscar Bergstrand

What is your outlook on the orioles farm system and do you think they'll actually turn it in to major league success?

Harry Lewis

I was wondering if you could talk a bit about how making content about the whole of MLB has changed your relationship with the Braves - do you still consider yourself to be a diehard fan of your team in the same way as Jomboy and Jake, or are you someone who acknowledges your fandom but acts as a fan of baseball first and foremost (like, say, the Effectively Wild hosts)? How do you see that changing going forward?

Lucas

How would you go about determining just how effective a relief pitcher has been in a season? Is there a quick easy way or is it a lot more difficult?

Tom Landry Jackson

The comparison I keep hearing on Jack Leiter is Stephen Strasburg -- do you buy it?

Will

Apologies if this has been asked before FB, but what's your favorite play in baseball to witness live in the stadium? For me, it's an outfielder gunning down a runner trying to score on a sac fly in a close game (great build/tension, thrilling payoff, good athleticism on display, bonus points if it ends the inning). What's yours?

Jared Natsis

I've been seeing some people siding with the Mets on the Rocker situation, and I just don't buy it. From where I'm sitting, they absolutely mishandled it. Either way, what do you think is next for our boy Kumar?

Mike Steele

Hi Bailey. If you ran Major League Baseball with the adjusted minor league configuration, how many rounds would you choose to include for the Rule 4 amateur draft? And, if international prospects were folded in, how would that change your number (if at all)? Thanks for all your great work and content!

Jeff Sneddon

I enjoy when early baseball makes its way into a video. When the subject of early ball is relevant to an idea, do you look forward to any of the necessary research? Or, with the data being a bit on the sparse/vague side do prefer to avoid it when you can?

Eatancoc

When do you think the mariners' window is?

brandon

The question last month about your current dream lineup made me wonder what do you think your dream lineup will be 4 or 5 years from now? Obviously a lot can happen in that time and players you never thought of could break out into superstars, but just going by current players + current prospects, who do you feel confident will be the best at their position a few years from now?

Josh Getto

Adding on to the Kumar Rocker question earlier, a high profile player like Kumar not signing is a clear failure of the current format. Do you think MLB would benefit from locking players into going pro prior to the draft (similar to the way the NFL/NBA draft works) and also taking away incentives for teams to not sign players by getting rid of the compensation draft picks for unsigned players? Is there anything else you would do to improve the draft?

Cody Dutcher

Following the dismantling of the Nationals roster, what do you think the best move will be for Juan Soto going forward? Should he sign long-term with the Nats or test free agency? Also, how much do you think a potential extension or free agency contract would be worth?

Eve H

In the Chris Davis video you mentioned the idea of a tightrope player. For position players, what factors go into whether the description applies? Is there a lot of overlap with three-true-outcome players, or is it usually something more specific?

Jonathan Kae

Now that Degrom is definitively out of the NL cy young race, who is your favorite for the award? I know that awards themselves is frivolous and some might say foolish, but I think it is vindication for players and a testament to the best pitcher of their league that year. I just felt like I should clarify this, especially with my question last week about the hall of fame. Of course, it doesn't matter if Posey makes it into the hall first or the tenth ballot, just as long as he gets in. However, we as fans grow emotional ties with our favorite players and often go out of our way to encourage and support them in all the ways we can. Does Rivera deserve to be the first unanimous Hall of Famer? Of course not! But does it make his induction a little more special than the Willie Mays or Madduxs who were definitely significantly better than him? probably. With that being said, I personally think it comes down to Gausman, Woodruff, and Wheeler. As a Giants fan, I have to lean towards Gausman even with his recent hiccups, assuming they all continue to play at the same level as they have been. Looking beyond the sublime and similar stats of all three pitchers, I feel like Gausman has the edge due to the division he plays in. I just started seriously watching baseball last year and am wondering if my logic may be flawed. It may seem unfair to the other two, but they both clearly play far worse opponents. The NL east and central both possess three teams each below league average offense, while the west contains 2 elite teams above league average offense with Colorado almost reaching the mark. The Mets have been leading the east for the entire season with the 3rd worse offense in baseball! I am writing this very late so I apologize for the length, hopefully, you got the main points. Also thank you for pronouncing my last name correctly as Jonathan Ka with a long a.

ajnrules

I don't know if you've been watching baseball at the Olympics, but the ragtag collection of has-beens, minor leaguers, gaijin players, and a former speed skater ended up with the silver medal. If you have been watching, which member of Team USA do you feel like would be most likely to contribute to a Major League team sometime in the next few years?

Harper-Leighton Scott

Hi foolish, what's your criteria to determine if a player is overrated. A lot of sabermetrics think Tim Anderson is overrated because of his low walks and batted ball luck. But I think that he's properly rated (as an above average ss nut not elite due to his lack of power relative to SS) and that his contact is elite for the third straight year in a row and it isn't he's getting lucky+ a regression is coming soon. His low walk rate can hurt him at times but it's covered up a bit with him at the top of that white Sox batting order. In general I think it's hypocritical for people to rate a guy with hard hit+ walks but has a ton of strikeouts. But not rate high babpip+ wOBA and few walks.
