Does Jeff Kent have a case for the HOF? He leads 2nd baseman all time in home runs and had the longevity that people seem to love, plus was a good postseason performer.

Matthew Sims

*Edited* Previous Braves related video question answered in November Q&A. AA gives you the keys to the Braves this off-season, you’ve got some big name FA issues to solve, but also a few that while they maybe aren’t the biggest names, they will have a large impact, what do you do with these World Series profits (listen and there are a ton, I went to game 3, they had several pop up shops selling $50 shirts) to defend the A?

Braden

If the Toronto Blue Jays were able to make the post season, do you see a Toronto vs Atlanta reunion in the world series? Toronto winning, of course.

Liam Frasier

As an Angel's fan that has done their fair sure of suffering over the last decade, I truly believe that pain may be coming to an end soon. What is your outlook on Reid Detmers stuff and potential to be a cornerstone lefty in the Angel's rotation? Do you think he has that potential or will he be relegated to the bullpen at some point in the future?

Keegan Tatum

How do you navigate the ups and downs of life while also remaining consistent with your channel? How do you avoid burnout? Looking for some advice as someone newer to YouTube.

Max

What would you do for 2022 if you were the Twins FO?

Brian Lang

In what ways do you anticipate COVID to play a part in the upcoming lockout discussions? For example, could we see larger rosters to account for players needing to quarantine?

Sean

Across all of MLB, what do you think is currently the weakest position?

Eli Presberg

I know you’re probably feeling disappointed because there hasn’t been enough HoF discourse for you recently, I mean barely any at all to speak of, so I thought I’d be nice and ask your opinion on a theory I have, just so you can get to talk about the Hall at least a little bit: Even tho steroid guys seem like they won’t get in, their unnaturally long peaks and careers are creating a catch-22 situation for players like Jones because the writers have an unfair expectation for how long players should remain good, but don’t like guys who used roids. Also, on a scale of 1-420, how much do you think Mel Ott looks like Dennis Quaid

Jackson Ingram

Currently in MLB, hard change ups are in style. I’m sure this trend will persist; however, prospects like Grayson Rodriquez and Ryan Pepiot have developed screwball-like changes and seen great results. Along with these two, Devin Williams has become one of the best relievers in the majors with his change. Do you think more pitchers/farms will develop/teach screwball-like changes?

Will

Can you defend Derek Jeter’s defense?

Jonah Bernstein

I have been doing some light research into what I’m calling “the pitcher hat trick” which is a starter striking out the same batter 3 times in a game. I’ve found it to be pretty interesting, and I’m wondering if you have any thoughts on it.

Happy new year, Foolish! I was going through my old YouTube playlists and found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EF91gJ6D0E (DMCA Warning). The video is worth a laugh for sure but it got me thinking that at the time I was super high on Kris Medlen. I loved watching him pitch which makes sense since Maddux is my favorite pitcher I have ever personally watched pitch and people were making those comps at the time. Let's assume my question is in an alternate reality where Kris Medlen did not suffer his multiple TJ injuries. Do we have enough data on Kris Medlen to support the speculation that he could have been a top tier pitcher for the rest of his career in the style of Mad Dog Maddux? TL;DR If not for injuries, is there enough data to support Kris Medlen becoming an ACE for the rest of his career as someone who pitched more like Maddux than the rest of the fireballers of the time?

Trent Thomas

What is your opinion on Joey Gallo? Dude gets a bad rap from non/anti-sabermetric fans but pro-saber fans seem to love him. However, 0.25 WPA for his career and is only worth about 3ish wins per season. BB rate is good but his K rate is atrocious. I know Joey Gallo is a talking point right now, I just can’t seem to get a good read on him. As a Ranger fan he was always disappointing to me yet people really seem to like him. Is it just his defense? I guess what I’m asking is, is Joey Gallo actually good?

Stephen

Was Barry Bonds intentionally walked an adequate amount, not enough, or too much?

Nolan McDermott

Its been 5 full seasons since an MLB player has hit 15 triples, and the league leaders weren't even in double digits in 2021. There was also about 100 fewer triples in 2021 than in a normal year, what is happening to the triple? Any theories? 7 inning games maybe?

Harry Lewis

Bit of a niche one, so feel free to skip if you want. What's the deal with Brooks Raley? He's shown up in a few of your videos on the basis of having really quite outstanding peripherals and a hell of a Savant page, but his actual performance has been mediocre at best, occasionally straying towards 'bad', and he spent five years in Korea as a decent but not great starter. Is this just a case of someone being incredibly unlucky, or is there something else at play?

Max Greineder

If you were a baseball scout, would you either take a catcher with good hitting (for a catcher) and average defense, or a great defender, with weak hitting. How much does the glove save a catcher and at what point in the bat do you give the guy up, even if the fielding is great

Brian Cashman

My hot take, is that Rick Porcello’s 2016 season might be the most underrated Cy Young winning season this century. He probably didn’t deserve it, but it was unbelievably tight between him Kluber and Verlander, in ERA and IP, among other stats. What are your thoughts on this take?

Wyatt Huggins

As a Braves fan, despite the emotional connection, would you be alright with Freddie leaving the Braves if he was replaced by Matt Olson?

Tanner Kingery

Do you think there will be a universally accepted tacky substance that would satisfy pitchers, hitters and fans alike? Or do you think other proposals like moving the mound back are more likely?

navman32

If Kyler Murray did end up choosing baseball over football, how good of a career do you think he would've had?

Anthony Leeds

What are your favorite stats to use in fantasy baseball?

Paul

I enjoyed hearing your interview on Effectively Wild last week. What did you think of that whole process? I know you’ve mentioned being a fan of the pod and of Ben in the past, we’re you star struck at all or was it more or less like a normal conversation?

Max T

Do you think the Orioles could actually trade Cedric Mullins? If so, where do you see him going and how big of an impact could he have on a playoff contender?

Chris Collum

Which team has the best uniforms in baseball today? What about favorite uniform from a previous era? (If you don't say original 1998 Devil Rays you're a phony!)

Jason Timmerman

Moving the mound back three feet and/or the fences back 25 feet. How big of a difference do you think it would make and do you think the game would be more exciting and attract more fans or is baseball destined be a niche fanbase?

Brad Borrell

I was arguing with a Mets fan the other day and want your input. Who was the better player: Chase Utley or David Wright?

Grant

What are some of your favorite baseball books?

logan smith

Do you think Robinson Cano can still make the HoF? Thanks Bailey :)

Nolan Costa

Are there any modern baseball players that you really don't like for whatever reason? (outside of character reasons i.e. Addison Russell)

Jack Budington

If we were going to let in every reliever about equal to or better than Papelbon who would be on your list?

Burt Oldirty

Is Kevin Newman an above average to great shortstop defensively? What stats would you suggest using to answer the question/evaluate?

Jeremy Jones

With Buster Posey and Kyle Seager retiring I’ve been thinking to myself; who are the most beloved active players who have spent their entire career with one team? Freddie Freeman is the obvious choice I think, Brett Garner is obviously a life long yankee but if he as well received? Who are some other players that fit the bill, and who are some young guys that, assuming they stay in one city, could be their town’s favorite son

NowIOnlyWantATriumph

Assuming nothing changes to the Hall of Fame induction process, who among active players do you think are the most likely Veterans Committee guys? The Trouts and Pujolses and Scherzers of the world are obvious BBWAA-ballot inductees, and I think the more interesting discussion is in who’s gonna get in via the alternative method.

Nolan

if you were grand overlord of baseball and could switch any team's division or league for whatever reason, would you switch any and why?

Jaxx Weese

I'm the new MLB commissioner. Just roll with it. I've tasked you to build part of an all decade team for the 2010s, and that part is the bullpen. What would your all decade bullpen be, using individual seasons from players? (For example, 2014 Chapman) Each player can only be included once. Thanks for the content, Bailey, love your work my man

Leo Thomas

Do you think a player good enough could ever be made officially exempt from winning awards (such as MVP)? If they were so dominant that without intervention they would win fifteen or twenty consecutive MVPs. I’m aware it’s probably unlikely that a player of this calibre will ever exist.

Cameron Arato

I’m back home for break and about to take the greatest baseball game ever (Wii MLB Power Pros 2008) up to school with me and super excited to play it again (I was 7 when it came out) who are some foolish players to look out for or reminisce over

Bread

Should the best team in the league be able to pick which team they play in the Division Series instead of automatically playing against the winner of the Wild Card game? Looking at recent postseasons, in 2019, the Dodgers lost to the Nationals, and in 2021, the Giants lost to the Dodgers. I don’t think that they would have lost if they picked a different team, and 2021 Giants definitely would not have picked the Dodgers as their Division Series opponent if they had an option. I think the best team in the league should get a chance to play against the second best team in the Championship Series, not the Division Series. Assuming both Giants and Dodgers move on in this changed format in 2021, we would have had a very exciting Championship Series between 107-win team and 106-win team from historic division rivals, so I think if we make this change, it would be good for the fans and the sport.
