Hey all,

It's time for another Patreon exclusive Q&A! Please leave your (one) question down below, and I'll return in about a week with my answer! You can check out the playlist of past Q&A's here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3lJFzNSaN7SE7AAWRLGyfnf4S2oONOm-

Try not to ask for any World Series predictions because it'll be over by the time I post

Not a question, and don’t ask how I came upon this, but rate this move back to first by Mantle in the 1960 World Series. 2:09:50 in the video. https://youtu.be/TregDtArakM

Hi Bailey, I’ve loved your stuff for a long time btw, and wanted to ask what your thoughts were on Tyler Andersen and Andrew Heaney this off-season. What kind of contract do you think they will and/or should get?

Tim Ruscitti

Ted Williams wanted to be the greatest hitter who ever lived. Sadly, he spent 4+ years of his prime dropping bombs instead of hitting them, so his final numbers are more like top 10-20. Do you think the Splendid Splinter could have reached GOAT hitter stats if he hadn’t stepped away from the game (twice)? Could he be 1st in career WAR if he didn’t pause his career to go to war?

Chris Collum

RIP Takeoff 🛫 💔 What would it take to get Ohtani? How many prospects, what caliber, would the Angels want big league pieces, etc?

Charlie's Inferno

In your opinion, who is the best pitcher to never get a CY Young, and who's the worst to ever get it?

C.J. Keene

-Gonna need the Bailey take on Matt Quatraro to KC. Gut instinct - Im a fan. -Top little league/legion ball/beer league destinations for Mike Matheny? -Top musicians currently?

Bo Brown

Not baseball related podcast recs?

Ethan

What do you think about the Orioles

Keegan Tatum

Would you have played Jackie Robinson at SS during his prime years?

Tom Landry Jackson

Listen I know they turned the season around for themselves and they're playing in the world series so who am i to criticize but WHY is Schwarber hitting lead off???

Tyler Aven

Has Shohei Ohtani broken the defensive spectrum? Can we properly evaluate his value on an “above replacement” level considering he’s essentially 2 players at once and “two-way replacement players” don’t really exist?

Will

How much of the Phillies late season/World Series run do you attribute to the managerial switch? Apologies if I'm misquoting you, but I believe you're on record as saying "All managers are fine, except for Craig Counsel, who's the best", so I'm interested to get your take on what impact the firing of Girardi/promotion of Thomson has had on the Phillies season.

the year is 2552… after many years of battle and untold bloodshed, an unholy amalgamation of cybernetic body parts known as xxManfredBorg.jpg.html has become the supreme overlord of baseball. In his totalitarian attempts to increase pace of play, ManfredBorg suddenly shortens the game of baseball from nine innings to only six innings. As a time traveling manager, you can cryogenically preserve one pitcher, past or present, from any point in time, to become the ace of the (now underwater) miami marlins. Who is your new 6 inning ace pitcher?

Liam

The Blue Jays have some challenging offseasons ahead and need to sign a lot of guys to long term deals, they need to do something Braves like. Will they be able to keep their core together or will there be an odd man out either via trade or free agency? Also could you give us back Alex Anthopoulos, that might help?

Wesley Potter

What should the Cardinals do this offseason after a disappointment of a 2022 postseason?

Trevin Susanto

What do we do now that Baseball season is over?

Burt Oldirty

What is on your Mount Rushmore of 'I Think You Should Leave' sketches?

With no fences, would there be more or less runs scored?

Sumner Nelson

What happens to Dansby this off-season and how much does his contract total get inflated from the GG and 2nd best OAA this season? I was thinking around a 7/150 contract entering the season but now I don’t know what to think. Where does Dansby go and how much money does he get?

Leo Thomas

Who is the 'worst' player you could make an argument for being the best baseball player of all time? Also I'm curious who do you think is the greatest footballer (soccer) of all time? - two-word answer is fine.

Liam Frasier

Do you think that managers make a big difference nowadays, or are they just fall guys for the front office? Who is the biggest difference maker if you think so?

Paul

There is growing criticism of the analytical side of the games these days. Not only are curmudgeons complaining (as per usual), but there also seems to be growing criticisms coming from analytics supporters who are talking about how the game has been solved or made worse at least in some ways by the movement they once wholeheartedly supported. My question is this: what can analytical baseball people do to rehab their movement’s reputation? Most suggested solutions to these issues seem to involve deliberately making the players less successful (i.e. defenders are too good in the shift so they aren’t allowed to shift anymore, reducing pitching rosters to force pitchers to throw in disadvantageous situations) but to me the appeal of baseball is watching the best players in the world playing their best and I guess these measures don’t feel right. What are your thoughts?

Ty Jans

With the introduction of Robo-Umpires likely in the near future, how do you see the position of catcher changing? Will we see more guys back there strictly for their bat, or will teams still value defence the way that they do now? Since a big part of the catcher’s defensive duty is to frame the pitches

What are your top 5 FA this coming offseason in terms of future outlook?

Ryan McGovern

Assuming the US normalizes relations with Cuba sometime in the next 20 years, should the MLB pounce at the first opportunity to expand into Havana?

Scott Tennant

Who are a hitter and pitcher that each had very good/great seasons this year without any/enough fanfare?

nick podd

Hi Bailey, wondering if you could make a prediction on what the league wide offensive profile will look like 10 seasons from now (assuming only the 2023 rule changes and potentially a pitch clock are implemented). Will offense keep dipping with the technology pitchers have now?

Will Kaplan

Would you rather: Be Foolish Bailey, exactly the way you are right now, with no changes OR Be almost entirely Foolish Bailey with the same personality and everything, however you acquire Trae Young’s basketball ability, but you also have to have to acquire the same hair as him. You also can’t play professional basketball. Thanks foolish boi -notorious baseball bits commenter, Foolish will

Sam Horton

Hey Bailey, I was wondering if you have any experience using R or Python to analyze baseball data? If not, would it be something you would be interested in exploring?

Noah Dorroh

Not sure if this has already been asked, but will you be doing any OOTP baseball content during the off-season? The alternate re-sim series and the rebuilds were great content. Maybe even stream it!

Jake M

Limited/no shift. Who wins the batting titles next year?

Max Greineder

Is it safe to assume that Cal Raleigh could be on his way to a breakout all star, 6-7ish fwar season in 2023? Dude has 85th percentile framing and good pop time, as well as 95th percentile max exit velo and 85th in average. K’s and whiffs weren’t great but he walked a pretty good amount and mostly hits for power which excuses the strikeouts to some extent. Having an increased role early in the season should help too. He’s proved he’s got the clutch factor and mainly he just looks ready to build on last seasons start. Would love to hear your opinion on him Also bonus question because I need to know. How dissatisfied are you with the Braves season ending early despite the 102 wins?

ajnrules

With the season coming to a close, it marks the start of Baseball Hall of Fame season. As you probably know the Hall of Fame made some more changes to the Era Committees, after the previous committees elected 13 players and pioneers/executives in the past five cycles. What are you thoughts with regards to the changes and do you feel it would affect the chances of people getting elected?

Nolan Murphy

Who is in your Pirates Mount Rushmore?

Brad Borrell

What is your ideal playoff format?

Chris Waind

If he didn’t get injured, what would you project for Ken Griffey Jr in terms of his overall career, the potential GOAT? Through his first 11 years he hit 438 HRs with a 148 OPS+, hypothetically if he never left Seattle and played the rest of his career there (11 more years), do you think he goes down as the GOAT? He would’ve been on the 2001 Mariners with Ichiro, maybe he could’ve convinced A-Rod to stay, and would have been injury free in this scenario so he would have aged more gracefully. I feel like he could’ve hit 800 HRs and potentially won a ring in 2001 which would place him pretty high on the GOAT rankings.

Evan A

Bailey, how are you doing?

Ali_

Similarities between csgo and baseball? I see we are a fan of both What great mlb players would you compare to the great csgo players

Jeremy Jones

A good friend of mine plays rec league slow pitch softball and I’ve been going to their games as a fan. It’s got me wondering, which current (or recently retired) MLB players would be the best/most fun to start a team with? Furthermore, do you think you’d be any good in a rec softball league?

Josh Getto

It seems like pitchers are getting taller on average nowadays. We hear a lot about the tallest guys, but who are the shortest active MLB pitchers? Are there any good examples of truly short pitchers (under 5'5") having long term success in the majors?

Eli Presberg

Missed when this got posted so all good if you can’t get to it Between these 5 players, who should be my 3 fantasy keepers for next year in my (relatively traditional) pts league Seager, will smith (C), jrod, Degrom, and Cole It’s a small league…

Harry Lewis

Can we ascribe any underlying cause to Justin Verlander's World Series struggles, or is the sample size still small enough to make that a plausible explanation? Posting this after he got his first win, but that performance was shaky enough to still make the question valid imo

Jack Main

Three ab's between you and Baseball Doesn't Exist. You're on the mound, Joey at the dish. Who takes the cake between Braves YouTubers?
