Welp, this was probably the weirdest video release I've ever had. Initially wanted to upload this about a week ago, but of course, life had other plans. Still, it's here and it's good to go.

Just a heads up, new patrons through 2/13 got their names in the credits of this one. This was a few days before, err, "the incident." If you pledged after that date, your name will be featured in the credits of a future Baseball Bits. I might have a sponsor for March's video, in which case you might not see your name until April. But it will happen!

Thanks for supporting what I do. This past week or so has given me some serious perspective. Just glad to be putting out content like it never happened.

How to Lie with Baseball Stats | Baseball Bits

I've been lying to you all with baseball stats. Now it's time to tell you all my secrets. Baseball stats like AVG and ERA are easy to lie with, because they aren't park-adjusted stats or era-adjusted stats like OPS+ or ERA+. Baseball defensive metrics are can also be used to obfuscate the truth. Fielding Percentage is a bad stat, but even Defensive Runs Saved and Statcast Outs Above Average can be manipulated for the narrative. And that's honestly what we're doing here: playing narrativeball. We're taking a look at MLB players like Ken Griffey Jr., Jacob deGrom, Dustin Pedroia, Craig Biggio, Yordan Alvarez, Jeff Conine, and even player from many years ago named Roy Cullenbine. Indeed, what happened to 1947 Roy Cullenbine ties in with a point I'm making. I hope you'll all enjoy this episode of Baseball Bits, a Foolish Baseball production that has absolutely nothing to do with Tesla. Hopefully you'll learn how to use baseball analytics and baseball sabermetrics to spot baseball lies in the future. __________________________________________ Roy Cullenbine SABR bio: https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/roy-cullenbine/ Zach Star on lying with statistics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVG2OQp6jEQ Soundtrack from Maxo: https://soundcloud.com/maxoelectronic https://maxoisnuts.bandcamp.com/

Do you plan on doing a foolish Bailey episode about your debacle? Or do you prefer to put it behind you as much as you can

Glad it all worked out bailey!

Foolish Baseball

If it were a slower time for content (still in the offseason), I'd probably milk it for what I could. But I have a lot of things I want to put out in the next month or two. Gonna just stick to baseball as if it never happened.
