Hey all!

It's time to submit questions for a Patreon exclusive video Q&A. This is something that I do quite often, but haven't had the chance to since our recent influx of new patrons following the channel hack.

Below, please leave your one question. Could be about baseball, Youtube, or just life in general. I'll be back to answer in approximately 7-10 days.

You can also check out the dozens of hours of previous Q&As here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3lJFzNSaN7SE7AAWRLGyfnf4S2oONOm-

If you put prime Mike Trout in the murderers row Yankees lineup in 1927 and assume he'll play exactly as he plays in the modern game with regards to approach and style what is he OPSing? Also where are they planning him in the lineup?

Daniel Kohl

Do you ever dream about what Major League Baseball would be like if Joey Terdoslavich panned out the way he did in your OOTP 23 save? Would he achieve cult hero status, complete with a cheering section similar to the King's Court but instead known as the Terd Herd? Would do you suppose a catcher who consistently puts up .420+ OBPs would earn in free agency? I think about the often.

Jason Coppe

What are some of your favorite baseball books you would recommend? I’ve been trying mostly biographies/autobiographies and it’s been hit or miss, wondering if you have any must-reads. (P.S. you were right in the last video, it’s pronounced “copy” )

Dan

If you could force two current players (must have either career under 90ops+ or era+) to get married and live a sitcom marriage who would it be and why?

DiscoKazuma

I read in an article the other day that Darin Ruf's slump for the Mets 'confounded the analysts'. Is there anything in his stats and peripherals from the last few years that would've worried you, or do you think it's just aging or plain old bad luck?

Paul Bauer

Which fan bases (top 5) do you think most “deserve” a World Series title in the immediate future and why?

Riley Nahlik

Favorite play/at-bat/moment from the first week of the season?

ice_denier

You haven't posted music opinions on twitter in a while and I want to know, what bands did you listen to for the first time in the last year that you have become a fan of?

Leo Thomas

If you made a Foolish 50 back in March 2013, where would Mike Trout land?

Leo Barlach

Which MLB team do you think is definitely not going to win the World Series, but that you believe you could definitely get them to win if your took over on Out Of The Park?

Eli Presberg

Why does fWAR use FIP for pitchers? I know it’s a better projection of future performance than ERA, but isn’t WAR meant to measure value produced?

Ty Jans

Where do you get your ideas for videos? Do you just go on a site and go “damn that’s a cool stat” or do you have these ready in the back of your mind for videos?

Paul

All the swing and pitching improvements at the start of the year have brought me back to a question I’ve had for a while: why isn’t there a Driveline-style clinic for defense? Obviously some elements of defense are limited by the body (for example, Max Muncy won’t ever be a good CF) but it seems like with enough practice a player should be able to move up a notch on the defensive spectrum or maintain their defensive abilities later into their career. It just seems strange that seemingly every element of the game is broken down into minutiae and “solved” when the answer for improving defensively seems to be “hope that Ron Washington is on your coaching staff”

teeballer25

Which of your foolish 50 picks do you feel most/least confident about? Are there any players (like Jose Abreu on your 2021 list) that you didn't want to include, but felt like you had to?

Tristan Wille

any initial thoughts on Jazz Chisholm at CF?

Bo Brown

Currently listening to The 3-0 Show and everyone is giving 3 bold predictions for the season. Do you have any? Mine: Twins win the Central Ozzie 30/30 season Rockies make a mid-season trade that actually makes sense

Jon Wondrasek

Happy baseball season! What are your thoughts on the Cubs outlook for the year? I know they're not better than the Cardinals, but how delusional (1-10 scale) am I for believing they could steal a Wild Card spot?

PeachyPapillon

How bad is the Madison Bumgardner contract for AZ? Im a big DBacks fan and thinking about it makes my teeth grind, am I justified in being upset?

ajnrules

Any thoughts on the first Best Picture winning film to feature a baseball bat with googly eyes: Everything Everywhere All at Once?

Daniel O'Leary

If I appointed you the tsar of prospect media, what rules (if any) would you institute to improve how we talk about prospects?

Joshua Watkin

Kerry Wood and a few others struck out 20 batters. Do you think we’ll ever see the elusive 20+ strike out game? Especially with the pitch clock and automatic strike violations.

Chris Waind

What’s the most effective position player you could build if you had to build them from Baseball Savant’s percentile rankings but you were limited to five 100 percentile attributes and the rest were around 50. So for example a CF with 100th percentile sprint speed, max exit velo, average exit velo, hard hit%, and OAA, with everything else in the 50th percentile Also, after previously asking you a baseball related question mentioning the Strokes, watching you rank their discography with Spencer Strider felt like a fever dream

Will

Do you think MLB is in a poor position going forward, from a popularity standpoint, because it isn’t as well suited for gambling as the NFL or NBA? Point spreads, over under totals, and other betting standards I feel like are more accessible in other sports compared to MLB, and allow for better gambling engagement. Obviously there are plenty of ways to gamble on baseball games, but in my opinion, it seems like the other leagues are more exciting from a betting perspective, and that worries me about MLB’s future

Zachary Birger

What are your thoughts on the potential unintended consequences of the new shift rules? In particular, could it lead to further adoption of a three-true-outcome approach for power-hitting lefties because the lack of a shift mitigates the cost of such an approach?

Ryan McGovern

In 2010, baseball history nerds rejoiced when a full game TV broadcast of Game 7 of the 1960 World Series was found in Bing Crosby's wine cellar. Seeing as how no other lost game find could ever top this, what is the next best possible find of lost TV full game broadcasts?

Jeremy Jones

Who are your favorite broadcasters/broadcast teams in Major League Baseball? National or regional, who do you get excited to listen to behind the mic?

Big Al

Who are some players that are currently scuffling at the major league level, but genuinely might be one adjustment away from becoming a star player, and what would those adjustments be?

Josh Getto

If you could replace the three traditional pitching triple crown categories with advanced pitching stats which ones would you pick? Are there any others pitching stats you wish existed?

Brad Borrell

What are your three favorite movies?

Evan A

You may or may not be able to answer this but -- I saw that you and streaming service Nebula interacted with each other while you were tweeting at YouTube attempting to recover the channel. Did anything come out of that? As a fan of yourself and a Nebula subscriber it would be really cool to see, Foolish Bailey for Jet Lag Season 6!

Burt Oldirty

No “sub2babies” through the first weekend games. How many will we see this season?

Stephen

Is there a baseball related website or game that you wish existed?

Liam Delehanty

It feels like there have been a ton of high scoring games/blowouts early this season. Is that because of adjustments to the pitch clock? higher babip? early season randomness? This question could be irrelevant by the time you answer this but curious to hear your thoughts

Keegan Tatum

You’ve said Babe Ruth never faced a slider. When did the slider first start getting thrown? Christy Mathewson threw an “out curve”. Was that a slider? What other pitches are relatively new?

David Pulido

You have the chance to send Shohei Ohtani to any team after this year or keep him with the Angels. Who do you send him to: a playoff contender or a smaller team that can build around him?

alursai

Pirates ceiling this year? Thoughts on Endy Rodriguez?

Max Greineder

Where do you currently stand with Robo-Umps, or my potential alternatives? I personally don't really like the idea of robots, because catchers would lose significant value, but I do want some change. My two plans are as followed. One; I think there should be some sort of pitch challenging system. I think it would need to be severely limited, as to that not every call is challenged, and initiated by the player themselves. The current plan I have is a 3 pitch challenge allotment, and if a player gets it correct they retain. This accounts for the average miss per game/ per team as per Ump Scorecards. My plan is probably terrible but I think it keeps catchers value but also takes some show away from the Umps. My other plan is to replace every umpire with either Pat Hoberg, Tripp Gibson, Alan Porter or John Libka. Sure, baseball might take a lot longer, as thats only enough to field one game per day, but I personally like that plan more

Seán Meehan

What player's career makes you feel sad when you see how much they have dropped off compared to their peak? I think for me it's Craig Kimbrel. Thinking back on how dominant a closer he was and having to watch him go out there and blow saves hurt. Hopefully he'll have another bounce back year.

Maxwell Skipworth

A lot of talk these days about the new rules changes. But what do you think has been the most impactful rule change in MLB history?

Vertildr

What do you think is the achievable future for Jordan Walker's career? Not the absolute peak, but something that that is realistic.

Chris Collum

With MiLB games available on MLB TV this year for the first time ever, what are some minor league teams with loaded/fun rosters that I should make sure to watch? Apart from top-100 type guys and my own team's system (StL) I feel like I don't really know which systems are loaded, especially towards the top

Nolan Murphy

Favorite old timey baseball names? (Recently discovered High Pockets Kelly)

Sam Horton

Hi Bailey! Hope all is well. Glad to see you brought back the OOTP content for the release of 24. I recently got into the game and although I have a solid knowledge of the MLB, I’ve found the game especially interesting for learning about lesser-known, fringe prospect type guys. Are there any players you have learned of through OOTP and have gone on to breakout in the Major Leagues? Thanks.
