r2-r3 is mostly script edits (typos etc). It's a completely optional download.

PC: HI-RES - COMPRESSED

PC PATCH (from 0.7.5a1 and later): HI-RES - COMPRESSED

You can use the patches to upgrade any version beginning with 0.7.5a1 to version 0.7.6r3, just make sure to get the right flavour (hi-res/compressed).To use a patch, place the .exe file into the game’s root folder and launch it.

always wondered but, is there a difference between HI-RES and compressed?

The compression strength. Compressed version is much more heavily compressed, but if you're playing on a smaller screen or have a very poor internet, you might want to use it.

I just downloaded ahitr_comp_0.7.5_to_0.7.6r3 .exe and the Windows Defender identifies this as Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml - even if I would trust it, it gets instantly removed.

I just redownloaded the files from the sources and I don't see any issue with them. If you can, please try disabling the defender and then uploading the file to virustotal. I can only see one false positive from Zillya, but I have not experience with this AV

It probably is just a false positive but I downloaded AHouseInTheRift-compressed-0.7.6r3-pc.zip now and then applied ahitr_comp_0.7.6_to_0.7.7r1.exe - worked just fine.
