Today I want to tell you about an awesome game - What a Legend! by MagicNuts!

This game is one of my personal favourites. The story is well-written and funny, the characters are endearing, and the art is one of the best if not the best among the 2DCG games. And the animations are the icing on cake.

The game is totally free, but you can support the devs on Patreon – they are definitely doing amazing work!

ABOUT THE GAME

What a Legend! is a free adult point-and-click adventure game with both sandbox and visual novel elements set in a medieval fantasy world.

The story is about a young man who goes to the biggest city in the realm to lose his virginity but ends up meeting a mysterious woman who sends him on an epic quest. A quest full of sexual encounters, unhappy housewives, beautiful damsels, comely magical creatures, and the chance to become a legend.

Key Fetishes: Romantic / Vanilla

It's a really excellent, light-hearted romp of a game. It feels like a lot of the inspiration came from things like 80s and 90s rom-coms and high-fantasy movies. MC is a loveable buffoon with a heart of gold, and the LIs are all written with their own distinct personalities and voices. There are lots of well-written supporting characters as well. It's not one of those games where there's only one male in the whole universe and every woman falls at his feet. Chestnut and Pistachio (the MagicNuts) are a married couple working together on the game. She (Chestnut) is the artist and hand-draws everything in-game, and he (Pistachio) is the writer and coder. (Can you tell I'm a fan?)

Co-signing this one. I've pledged to MagicNuts for years, and WaL is one of my favorite indie eroge.

I've been subscribed to their Patreon for a couple of years, and I totally second the above two posts.

While this game boasts exceptional art and gameplay, I recommend caution in supporting it at this stage. It's been a year since the last update, which raises some concerns.

Sh0tgun_Jacks0n

Just curious here, exactly what would those concerns be? The creators post weekly updates, among other things, and I know of larger projects that haven't had (major) updates in even longer.

One of my primary concerns lies in the timeline of the updates. According to the developers' own reports, only about 70% of the next update is complete. Given the current pace, this could potentially translate into another six months of waiting. I think potential patrons should be aware of this. I'm intrigued by the projects you've mentioned that have even longer intervals between updates. Could you share more about these?

It hasn't been quite a year since the last update, as they released an update last December. Another thing to consider is that all the artwork is original, not edited pre-renders ah lah Ren'py. Not that I judge anyone who uses those, as they're still more creative than me. The point is, artwork like that doesn't get done in a day, or a few days, or even a week in some cases. Having played What A Legend to it's current completion, I personally believe it's worth the wait and the support

I have now seen the completion of the cross-promotion between MagicNuts and Zanith. It helps me not at all because I am already a big fan of both games. WaL is an excellent game even though it has an update cycle which demands patience.

Certainly, no one can deny the game's outstanding artwork. I'm a bit sceptikal about its creation time though. Also I'm not aware about the december update. The last I know was in late July 2022

I'll give em another shot. Last time I had hands on the Android build it was quite troublesome
