Would infantry squads have removable heads? That would be beneficial for conversions and an upgrade pack further down the road.

due to gasmask hoses, heads can not be made separate

Guard does not have many options for alts and their is so many people that want a custom army and all you find is SM, wait just wait once a image of mounted option gets made, i see a big in flux coming...
