Not meaning to be critical or anything, and please feel free to ignore me if you don't want to answer, but why do you associate the Pickelhaube & gas masks with the Nazis? I thought the gas mask & the Pickelhaube was a pretty universal symbol of the first world war?

Daniel, time has passed since both World Wars. The younger generations may not have the same perception and/or education as you and me on the subject. Emma, please, check your claims carefully when writing about nazis and both world wars, these are still sensitive subjects to many people. Thank you! :)

I guess they’re portrayed in media in those nice looking uniforms/trench coats and they give them gas masks fairly often. Think like wolfenstein and similar portrayals. And yea I honestly don’t know much about ww1 apart from watching a few movies and very briefly learning about it in school. Definitely didn’t intend to offend anyone, I’ll be more careful with that in the future 😊 appreciate y’all taking the time to explain to me the differences! :))

That's a 100% fair answer, and meant absolutely no criticism at all in my comment, was honestly curious. I suppose there is probably also a fair bit of a geographical element involved, where WW1 in a much bigger thing in some of the Commonwealth & mainland Europe, I don't think that it has anywhere near the same level of cultural relevance (for lack of a better term) in other countries like the US.

Yea.. dumb American here, we got a brief overview of ww1 in school and it was just “‘murica saved the day!” Which I’m sure wasn’t the whole story nor the whole truth lol 😅
