It's time to talk a bit about factions!

This poll is intended to get some feedback on the three new factions I've been working on in the last three months. Please let me know which are your favorites, and feel free to comment as well.

Without further ado, the member states of the Terran Technocratic Union.

Factions and Lore:

- The Fabricarii:

The Noble houses fabricar are, perhaps, the most technologically advanced society on pre unity terra. Many are their illustrious halls of devices, radiant in ancient gold and marble.

In war only a very few organic beings are ever seen, the majority of their hosts seeming to be living statues, or great engines emitting deadly light.

In truth the Fabricarii are a decadent society in decline, their numbers ever dwindling, and their self importance preventing them from seeing even their greatest flaws.

- The Jade Coalition

The Coalition force is gathered from several City-States that cover the North east of the spine mountains.

Primarily a mobile force they go to war with rail and coil weapons as well as the most advanced surveillance and targeting systems on Terra.

The Coalition is armed and armored by mechs, hover tanks, and a variety of combat and logistic drones.

During the wars of unity the Coalition acted as a mercenary force, working both for the warlord of the tempest legions and rogue technocratic enclaves. As unity became assured the coalition threw in wholly with the nascent empire, and as the empire expanded out to the solar stage, the Coalition forces made up a portion of the war fleets.

- The Ionian Biotechnical Institute

Located in the dried basin of a once great sea, the Institute is a sprawling network of connected research centers capable of producing the best super-soldiers money can buy. The institute has grand and lofty goals such as terraforming the now barren western continents, but for now survives by producing and experimenting on all manner of mutant flora, fauna, and prisoners. The results of these experiments are often large, brutish creatures that run headlong into the fray wielding savage steel implements and little else.

Caleb Jackson

I like the look and feel of the Jade coalition, the fabricari are a close second

Sam Middleton

Yeah, the first two are great. The lionmen, island of Dr Monreau aesthetic ain't for me.

Wise Penguin

My only comment is regarding the piece of cloth from the guys from the Biotechnical Institute, that always remind me of the Ood from Doctor Who (and those guys are creepy as hell).

Connor Phillips

I really like the Fabricarii and Jade Coalition as well as the scientists for the IBI, but I'm unsure about the lionmen. I think they'd work better as more mutant, less animal. Though I am quite intrigued about the mutant plant idea!

Joshua Dueck

I agree with Caleb, Jade Coalition followed by the Fabricari! But it’s all terrific stuff!

Zachary Halverson

The Fabricarii to me have the most unique aesthetic, so I'd love to see more of them!

Quinn Shaw

I second that the IBI is a good start but I'd like to see the experiments go in a more grotesque direction. I think they're a good supplemental force to the other two factions.

Zak K

I'd love to see more of the Fabricarii, followed closely by the Jade Coalition. However, the INI haven't really had a lot to show off yet - may not be a fair contest :P

sebastian betancur

I personally believe the IBI has a lot of promise but the consistency in the JC and the Fab have really drawn me to the. As stated above the IBI's promise comes from the potential for great variety in units.

Sergent Silver

I really love the looks of the Fabricarri and Jade, but I really want to see more of the Ionian for it's uniqueness. Proxy AdMech and especially Guard are a dime a dozen.

Raz

I'm looking at things largely through the lens of what I'd want to proxy or house-rule into the WH40K universe, esp what might fit into a Kill Team. No issue if these aren't really aimed at 40k universe though and of course not a dig on what anyone else likes. Fabricarii are very cool, feeling like they could fit into the 40k univ, don't love the powdered wig guy as part of that faction, not quite sure why though. Jade Coalition are ok, but feel like yet-another-guard-proxy and I have enough guard. Ionian I just don't care for, not sure about lion-dudes specifically but also just overall too... clean? for my mutant types.

Setting: VC - RECONEX

I like a lot the Jade Coalition. But my heart is with the mechanicus. Unfortunaly the Fabricarii do not fill that. On the other hand, the droids from previous month hit my heart in a way I didnt knew. Hope you do more Mechanicus Droids

Emmett Stein

The fabricarii are super cool. I’d love to print out a bunch once the range is more fleshed out. Additionally, the jade coalition has a lot of potential I think. I’d love to see them in a fast attack/drop trooper configuration.

Mike Michaels

The Ionians aren't doing well in the poll r/n but that line has so much potential. All of these are great though, and share a really cool asthetic. Keep up the good work!

Cerus

Really liking the Jade Coalition, the Fabricarii are cool as well, I like some of their minis alot! The Lionmen don't really do it for me but interested to see what else comes out for them

Steven Schnepp

I, on the other hand, rather like biopunk. The lion men could make for pretty unique Space Marine proxies for 40k players. The faction would certainly benefit from branching out and going into more directions, though. Really explore what bioengineering can accomplish, rather than just making furries

DarthUrsus

Fabricarii are my favorite by far. I like the IBI in theory but they don't have enough out yet to fairly rate them. That said I feel like the Lionmen are a bit too clean right now. Their posing also is a bit too static and humanlike so it doesn't really show off their animalistic side. Jade Coalition are my least favorite right now, but its probably because I like the wilder ideas rather than another guard faction.

Alex Hunter

Definitely the Fabricarii. Robots, robots, and more robots, please.

Wolf

Mathew Reaume

I love the Jade Coalition, they might be my favourite range at the moment, can't wait to print up a bunch for use as Heresy Era Militia Grenediers.

Daniel Robinette

I honestly love all three. They each have characteristics that separates them and but similarities that make me feel they are part of the same world.

Emma Marx

I like this idea

morgan light

they're all dope AF, though I voted Fabricarii because there's not enough rococo mixed in with sci fi. hope you'll expand on all.

Tony Iglesias

You really captured the atmosphere of the unification between with these factions while I really love the TL it's awesome to see some factions they can fight.

Riocordo

Fabricarii are awesome and something different.

Mathieu Kusberg

I hesitated between the fabricarii and the jade coalition, but my choice will be more on the jade coalition, because we are terribly lacking in proxy for solar auxilia which do not have a "medieval space" look, which the coalition of jade seems to fill in perfectly at the moment.

Anthony Gascoigne

I was thinking of stopping my long-running membership to TMC, some finance reasons but mainly that I wanted something new. AND THEN!!! … you evil sods go and dump these three new factions on me!!! … that is sooo underhand! I like the ideas of all three and considering all the other sci-fi 3D model Patreons, they are all very refreshingly new. Though some more IBI minis before this poll would have been nice. I’m personally not looking for WH40K proxies. What I see here is three factions that would be great for a Xenos Rampant campaign. Also the characters, with a few grunts, would make Stargrave crews. So in the end, after tortuous consideration, I’ve voted for The Fabricarii. I think your wonderful paint jobs were what swung it for me. By the way, I love the guy in the powdered wig. More characters, for all three factions please … it’s the least you could do.

Shadow fund

Honestly looking forward to seeing all three factions grow. IBI I think right now is the biggest unknown which is a blessing and a curse. It would be interesting to maybe see a stable bio weapon and the wild version. Bring us the beasts and titans of the old world.

Danger Draper

I'm going with the IBI purely based on the potential that leaning harder into that biotech element presents and maybe it's too early to write them off

Sebastian Baumruker

I can not pick a favorite here and I am usually not an undecicive person. I love all of them. That being said I think the quality of the sculpts, the flavor and lore is so good it would feel wasteful to use them "just" as proxies. I don't know how your relationship with OPR is these days but if it's still good, have you considered making these into their own OPR compatable factions? I know I would play all three :)

Daniel McCormick

I do feel a little bad, I'm not one to look into lore of models most of the time and just kind of make my own lore for however I use the model in whatever game I use it in... as such I fell in love with the Fabricarii as soon as I seen them and just flipping through the release images the Fabricarii and the IBI looked like two branches of the same overall faction, as such I had ideas for the IBI instantly.... as for the jade coalition, I really like them as well again its really how ill use it in what ever game and the fact that I had a new planet and faction brewing just off a glance at the photo means its great...

David Eynon

For me, I see the IBI as the faction with the most potential, especially from a kit-bashing POV. I look the most forward to how the rest of the faction turns out. That being said, I voted for the Jade Coalition because I have an immediate application for it. I am currently planning, printing, and painting most of the sculpts and I want more...

Nolan Swanlund

Love all 3 but iron hive is my write in favorite ❤️

themakerscult

This is just for the new factions being made by Garin. Seb will continue to make the Iron Hive :)

Rick Nixon

Hate to say it, , the aesthetics of these new factions just doesn't ignite the fires for me, I'm here for the traditional mechanical big stompy robots mechanicum vibe. however I can appreciate the design, they just don't vibe with me, the Iron hive, and UG are keeping my sub alive at the moment.

louis Belibio

Tbh, the IBI has a very small range, so it's hard to judge the faction when there is only 2 units

Rhett Scott

TBH, I would really only have passing interest in the Fabricarii or Jade Coalition...Zero interest in the Ionians as presented thus far

uglyduckling81

I'd like to see a sisters alternative. I haven't seen a single Patreon doing sisters yet.

Anthony Porath

The Fabricarii are incredible. I've spent a lot of time looking for models for a rouge trader/noble house/trader coalition thing, and nothing has even come close to these bad boys. They fill a really cool niche.

Moneypote

One page rules did, but I'm not personally a fan of how they look.

Shadow fund

OPR really dropped the ball on the sisters. :( it was such a let down.
